Carrie Schmidt (Reading is My SuperPower)
Ava’s Prize is a story of two people who may appear at first glance to be complete opposites, yet in reality are very much alike in their heart of hearts.

Kyle Quinn is, honestly, very unlikable at first – and yet even then there is a glimmer of what really lies beneath the surface of his heart. Specifically, his ultimately-good heart and the loneliness he experiences in spite of his wealth and success. In contrast, Ava Andrews is instantly endearing, the kind of character you want for a friend,

Set in the hot Northern California startup market, Ava’s prize took me for a ride I have actually lived through. There were many places in the book that truly hit the nail on the head for me so know that the things going on in the story actually happen in real life.

At its heart, Ava’s Prize is about Ava Andrews and Kyle Quinn. These two need to come to terms with what they perceive as their own…failings…before they can feel – and be – successful in life and love. Kyle starts off a bit stiff, at

I’ll tell you the truth. At the beginning of this book, I wasn’t onboard or connecting well with either of these characters. Kyle first comes across as self-serving and a bit of a negative Nellie while Ava’s determination to carry her entire load by herself—despite the friends she and her mom are surrounded by—comes across as a little prideful.

And yet, Cari Lynn Webb quickly threw off my misgivings and invested me in her story (in large part due to said friends).

Ava and Kyle live in different wo

I've to be sincere. I struggled with this book...a lot. It wasn't bad but it was a little boring. I don't know what I expected but it was more. I just could never really connect with the protagonists. I didn't particularly like any of them to enjoy the book. I think it was intentional to show them as flawed as they were, and it's not like that is bad for the story, but I felt some things were really slow and others super fast. 80% of the story both of them were like I can't be with him/

I have to admit that Kyle is difficult to warm up to. But that's not totally his fault. He created a medical warning device and then sold it to a large tech company, not realizing that in exchange for making millions and millions of dollars, his product would be denigrated into something it wasn't meant to be. But he likes having the money and he likes doing things to take care of his family. He has filled his home/office with lots of toys to make up for the loneliness that he feels. He grew up ...more

This book has a message in it. Its about trust and love. I loved Ava Andrews from the beginning. Her passion for life and love. Kyle Quinn was also interesting. Because of loss he made a "safe" place for himself so he couldn't feel hurt again. I loved the story for it showed that Ava, altough had a zest for life, had a fear of letting anyone close as well. Hmm a theme here. Caring really draws people into this story for you find yourself routing for these two. You find yourself turning the page ...more

Ava's Prize by Cari Lynn Webb is the third book in the City by the Bay Series. I enjoyed the witty commentary of this book. Ava and Kyle are great. I loved Ava's "nephew". Ava and Kyle grow closer through a contest Kyle puts on. Challenges throughout this contest could possibly put all the closeness in danger. This book has it's highs and lows that can be hard to connect with but the highs definitely out weigh the lows.

I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Can Ava win the contest and keep her heart safe?
Ava's Prize by Cari Lynn Webb is another fantastic book by this wonderful author. This is my second book from Ms. Webb, and I loved it as much as I did with the first book.

Kyle Quinn is the perfect person for Ava Andrews, and they both compliment each other well. These two are such opposites, but
