Raven is a disabled woman trying to escape from her abusive husband. Her husband, Cole, has contacts that make escaping from him very difficult. She manages to make her way to a new town, but when Cole is unable to locate her, he starts targeting innocent people to bring her out of hiding.

Raven is determined to get away from Cole. Though she is met with additional challenges due to her disabilities, she remains independent and resourceful. Her disabilities are physical (partial paralysis); howe

The book opens with a dramatic escape by the heroine Raven, she’s escaping from her husband Vole who’s love for Raven went from lovingly protecting her to complete control and then to abuse – verbally and physical. It got so bad for Raven the only option left for her was to flee.

Great writing style with an easy time and arrangement of words, plus good use of descriptive words and phrases, draws the reader into the dark world of possessive love,

Reclaiming Raven is an intense thriller by Mary Holt.

If you're looking for a book that will blow your mind, Reclaiming Raven fits the bill. I was truly blown away by the intensity of this book, since I really wasn't expecting it to be so wild. Raven is trying to escape her abusive husband, and she will do anything to keep herself safe. Cole, on the other hand, is doing everything in his power to try to get Raven back (hence the title, Reclaiming Raven). Our lead character has disabilities, but t

Ack! That ending tho!!

I have to say I was captured from the moment I started this book. The author chose a very interesting intro that almost seemed like we were in the middle of the story. It was intriguing and definitely encouraged me to keep on going.

Parts of the book are difficult to read, I’m not going to discount that. The author is highly descriptive of intense situations, and because of that fact, your body is on high alert right along with the characters.

The story depic

Raven Ballback takes a powerful action against her wickedly abusive husband Cole. She strikes him in the cane when he is in the process of attacking her. Rachel is severely disabled, and is rather shocked that she finally got the upper hand against Cole. If she had been in danger from him before, she is even more so now. When he comes around, she knows he will be after her.

Reclaiming Raven Written by Mary Holt
Murder, fear, abuse, flight, when does it stop and what do you do to protect yourself?

The frightened woman, partially paralyzed from her last encounter with him, flees. Unable to locate his wife, Cole burns the buildings that sheltered her in the past and endangers lives. "Marriage to Cole demanded unending praise. Admiration fueled him. Food never did." (6)

For years, Raven has been locked under Cole's menacing trap, and she knew that if she didn't kill him, she would never escape. Once she saw her chance, she made no hesitation and just fled into the night.

Meanwhile, Cole wakes up, dazed and confused, and realizes what she has done. He had to get her back. The chase was on. Raven needed to be reclaimed.

When I first started reading this, I understood this as a w

2.5 stars, rounded up for GR
First the warnings: this is not my typical read. Much more graphic both sexually and violence-wise than I usually read, and so this colored my rating a bit. Trigger warning: abuse, stalking, extreme violence

The good: The ending is fantastic. The characters worked well together as an ensemble.

The meh--I didn't really like Raven all that much. She came across as way too naive, especially with all she had gone through. I admit, I have not experienced any form of domesti

This debut novel by Mary Holt is a real page turner. I read it fast. Only took me two days. There are lots of thrilling events here including train wrecks, buildings on fire, and life-threatening chases. However the main character Raven is the best aspect of the book. She is disabled because of prior abuse by her husband who is now stalking her and threatening to kill her. Raven works hard to overcome the recent disabilities which make hiding and even her very survival difficult. Her guide dog M ...more

I couldn't put this book down! It was an exciting, but also such a savory read that I kept re-browsing the evocative passages describing Raven and her surroundings/other characters. This novel is a game changer for those of us that have dealt with temporary or permanent disabilities; hey - I'll say it - a lot of what Raven has to deal with involves the same type of treatment that plaques women "of a certain age." She is a heroine for the new millennium, overcoming obstacles as she flees a crazy, ...more

Raven's abusive husband wants her back into their marriage. That is not what Raven wants. She finally has moved where he can't find her so he uses other methods to 'smoke her out of hiding'. This story is not a bed time story. This story shows us that love may want to conquer all, but doesn't always make it. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book from Hidden Gems.

I received a free copy of this book to review. Lots of twists and turns in this one. Told in a back and forth manner between the wife Raven and the husband Cole. Once you begin this book you won’t to put it down.

As much as I wanted to hate this book, I really couldn't. It wasn't well written, it was superficial at best, and the ending absolutely sucked (wanted more on what happened next) but I was sucked in to having to know what was going to happen next at every page. Not sure why. Raven was unlikeable but the author did a very good job at showing how mental abuse can really affect someone. The only character I liked in the book was Melissa and that isn't saying much. I might try reading another book b ...more

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This book was a bit intense. It was all about a woman named Raven doing all that she can do to get away from her abusive husband. She does manage to get away to another town. He does everything he can to get her back even hurt innocent people to get her to come out of hiding. The characters were done well. It was a straight forward read.

Biography
For twenty years, I was a foster mom to two profoundly disabled young women. They became the center of the family, and everyone who knew us, knew them. We traveled all over the US and Canada, schlepping wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, G-tube feeding supplies and medications for six weeks at a time every summer.

The idea for Raven was born from my experience with the girls. Though one was non-ve
