To Love and to Honor by Heather Blanton is an engaging Western romance. Having read several of this author's books, I kind of knew what to expect and was not disappointed. This is a story of an unexpected love that grows between two broken people. Blanton does a nice job of keeping the reader's interest with evocative characters and a plot that moves quickly and realistically. She touches on themes of forgiveness, unwanted pregnancies, the importance of faithfulness and honor. The historical asp ...more

I loved this story! I know some may say it borders on Christian read because a married man has feelings for another woman. I like that the author shows how real life is in this book. Even though Joel is married he is a broken man. Angela has sinned by having a relationship with a former actor out of wed lock and gets pregnant. They both are drawn to each other and help with the healing process. I love how the story shows that we all sin but God still loves us and can still show us the way we sho ...more

I discovered Heather Blanton’s books due to my love of Christian fiction with historical western settings. Her novels meet that requirement perfectly. Ms. Blanton tends to tackle subject matters that many avoid and for that reason they are usually quite realistic and sometimes gritty. Nevertheless she manages to keep them clean with an emphasis on faith which I appreciate.

To Love and to Honor features a married man who has lost his leg due to a war injury only to be abandoned by his wife. He mee

I initially gave this read 5 stars, or intended to, but my Kindle seemed to think it needed to stop at 3, so if you saw just my rating before this review, please disregard it. Heather Blanton deserves ever one of the 5 stars I've given her above.

I don't usually like, or read, romances, unless they are a minor part of a cozy mystery. Well, this isn't a cozy, it isn't a mystery, and it IS a romance, a blatantly Christian one (so of course I knew it would be clean and "cozy"). But I truly enjoyed i

A beautifully written historical romance that takes place after the Civil War. When Captain Joel Chapman ends up having an amputation of his leg he feels like he's no longer the man he once was. When his wife becomes cruel towards him when he returns he leaves in search of finding employment so he can provide for them. He comes to the aide of a Angela Fairbanks, a damsel in distress who is an unwed, pregnant woman trying to return home to her less than tolerable father. Wonderful characters who ...more

Love it!

I always love the characters Heather creates, but this hero was especially dear to me, being based on Dave Roever. I remember, vividly, hearing Dave speak at a church I attended some forty years ago. Really made an impact on me, and things he said were also in this book, regarding the vows taken and what wonderful woman he had... That was the type of woman Angela, our heroine, is. It's good to see a love story that has a hero who is not physically perfect - thank you for that, Heather. T

Be historical problems or modern day problems, the mentality of people are the same.

Blanton knows how to pull you in to her stories and keep you wanting to know more. As with her other books, it was hard to put this one down. All the characters each have their own unique issues and problems that are intertwined with one another. A man who doubts his self worth. A woman struggling to be the daughter her father wants. Another man battling to be equal in the eyes of others. And A father full of rag

To Love and to Honor: Expanded (Brides of Evergreen Book 4) was a most intriguing book. Heather Blanton is the author. A beautiful love story about a fallen woman and a soldier with a prosthetic leg. The tests they endured were great. Truly blessed they can finally marry and have the life they deserve.

Joel's friend, Long Feather convinces him he can ride a horse again this making it possible for Joel and Angela to have their dream come true.

Great Read!

How will Joel, an amputee from the Civil War, get out of the white lie his traveling companion told?
A fast paced storyline that keeps you turning the pages to find out what becomes of an Indian, widowed school teacher, a woman pregnant out of wedlock, an angry father, and an amputee separated from his wife.

Love all books by H. Blanton

Such a talented, educated writer! Read all her books. This book is one of many she has written. All have interesting, dynamic characters, real love, & inspiring Scripture. This book was an enjoyable read. Looking forward to a resolution on Long Feather's & Miss Laurie's romance.

She was carrying a baby and he was missing part if his leg.

I liked how the story brought about them getting together and the other couple what was happening with them. How he got his self respect and showed the difference between white and Indian beliefs.

I really liked this story. Joel was fighting to be accepted but for Angela he just has to be himself. Stay loyal to yourself, your loved ones and God.
Life won’t always be easy but it is it worth!

This is an updated version! I hadn't read the original, so I can't say what's different, BUT I LOVE THIS BOOK! I could NOT put it down! I made the mistake of starting close to midnight, but I was able to finish with 4 hours or so.

I love how Heather takes sinful people and uses them to heal and redeem each other and themselves with God's power of love and acceptance! Be prepared to walk deeper in your faith as you’re challenged to love unconditionally! I’m really looking forward to Little Feather

To Love and to Honor was the first book I read in the Brides of Evergreen series. I enjoyed the book, though there were some controversial situations that some may find offensive. A prodigal, Angela, with nowhere to go but home meets Joel, a disabled veteran. They devise a plan to protect her and her illegitimate baby with a pretend marriage. Heather Blanton writes a good story.

I received this e-book from the author with no expectation of a positive review.

Loving the expanded version! Joel lost part of his leg in an Indian attack, taking an arrow to his knee. Infection set in and the leg had to be removed just above the knee. His self worth was seriously affected. Tossed out by his wife citing he was just half a man and could not fulfill his husbandly and other duties to her. Angela left her home on a ranch and moved to the city. She fell in love and became pregnant. Left alone and carrying a baby she heads home defeated. Her Father is not a forgi ...more

“Heather Blanton is blessed with a natural storytelling ability, an ‘old soul’ wisdom, and wide expansive heart. Her characters are vividly drawn, and in the western settings where life can be hard, over quickly, and seemingly without meaning, she reveals Larger Hands holding everyone and everything together.”
