Since I discovered her work last year, Melanie Summers has become one of my favorite RomCom authors and I awaited the release of The Honeymooner with unabashed excitement. I am happy to say that the book lived up to all of my expectations. Reading this story was the next best thing to going on a vacation because the author's vivid descriptions transported me to a tropical paradise where I got to experience island life and fall in love, with both the place and the hunky hero, right along with the ...more

I am so tired of reading this phrase: "I'm not that kind of girl"

Most books that are categorised as chick-lit (a term that I am not to keen on but alas it exists) use lots of cliches and tropes, which is fine, since I usually read them for the characters and the humour rather than the story. Here, the characters were far too stereotyped for my liking: she is hard-working no-nonsense, he is laid-back...The whole opposite-attracts can work if you present readers with likeable characters but

I received a free ebook copy of this book from the author but was under no obligation to post a review

Absolutely entertaining and all around great book!

After becoming a fan of Melanie Summers books because of the Crown Jewels series, I became a member of her VIP readers club, who means I get to read and review her new releases. So when I received a copy of The Honeymooner, I was very excited. Not only is it a spinoff of Crown Jewels, but it is another rom-com, so I was pretty much guaranteed a w

This is my first book by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like how light and funny the book is. Libby was uptight, by the book, planner to the nth degree that finally let loose a little at the resort. Of course I felt bad for her for getting stood up at the alter because she is too boring. She was delusional to think her ex-fiancée is going to come back to her—but why would you want him back! I can see why she was so grounded after hearing all about her mother. She is a real piece of ...more

So amazingly funny. I absolutely loved it and I didn't think anything could top Melanie Summers' Crown Jewels series....Paradise Bay series just did. I couldn't get enough of Libby and Harrison and all the crazy stuff they went through. Laughed all the way through it! I can't wait until Whisked Away is available - I need book 2 now!

Another MUST READ by Melanie Summers. Please keep the amazing reads coming! LOVE THEM.

This book is sweet and hilarious and just...perfect. Melanie Summers has a very real authentic voice that I enjoy reading, and the characters felt real too. Highly recommended for fans of Sophie Kinsella and Bridget Jones!

The Honeymooner

I laughed throughout this story, it was very cleverly written. I loved the characters and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I'm pretty sure this is a first Melanie Summers story that I've read and I'm glad I did.

Really cute and fun read. Libby is such an appealing, funny and flawed character. Looking forward to the next book featuring Emma the chef. Hope there are lots of delectable food descriptions as well. Melanie Summers has joined my ever growing list of must read authors.

I received a free copy from the author but as always, all opinions are my own.

The Honeymooner is a funny, heartwarming book. I found the first part a lot more engrossing than the second one, even if there's where the happy ending is, mostly because of Libby's misadventures with her marriage - or the marriage that never really happened. Her initial stay in Paradise Bay is also the best kind of hilarious.
By the time Libby starts to fall for Harrison, surprisingly, a small part of my interest in the book waned. Maybe it was because casual Libby has nothing to do with the ne

I don't know where to start! I loved this book so hard! It pushed every happy button I have and a couple of oh no buttons too... but grab this book and your map will be provided as you join Libby the jilted bride on her honeymoon adventure.
You'll love Libby, the overworked bride who was left at the altar by her prig of an ex with some mumbo jumbo about no spark and let me tell you this gal has plenty of spark. I'm ahead of myself.

I loved the dedication. It was for me, the reader who needs a laugh. Then the story starts with maps (on my ereader bits fell away) and a brochure, which was bordering on boring. But stick with it, it’s worth it! The second half of the book was downright unputdownable! Alternating POV’s between Libby and Harrison in first person, present tense.

I did laugh out loud a few times, but maybe not as much as I had expected by the foreword. And only after Libby and Harrison had met. But I loved it a

I read the crown jewels romance series a year or so ago now and loved it. I hadn't realised until recently that Melanie Summers had started a spin-off series. Spin-off in the sense that it's populated with characters that come from the fictional Avalonia, although most of the action takes place on a Caribean island. This series has a very similar feel to the previous series, with comedy taking as much of a role as the romance. (I did laugh out loud more than once, which isn't that common an occu ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The author sucked me in within the first few pages. Libby Dewitt is a by the book kinda gal, and she has every bit of her special wedding day planned down to the minute! When her fiancé breaks up with her via text message (I am pretty sure I guffawed when it was announced to everyone since Libby had the driving function enabled and all her texts were being read to her!), she figures she can talk him back into their relationship and wedding.

So Richard - aka Dick - stands up his fiancee at the altar and lets her know via text - on drive mode - read read aloud so that the rest of the wedding party can hear it - minutes ahead of the wedding start. Thus, he is Dick.

Libby had set her honeymoon at a remote resort that her firm was looking to buy from the owning family. Real romance, right?

Of course, sand Richard/Dick, she heads off on the trip anyway. After al, career on the line, promotion possible for a win, etc.

On Libby's wedding day she had everything organized down to the second, except Richard's text message saying, Libby I am so sorry I just can't be there today.
Libby is with all the relatives at the church having a photo taken.Everyone heard every word Richard just said.
Now that she is totally humiliated she goes off on her honeymoon by herself. Libby proceeds to get drunk on arrival. In the course of this happy celebration Libby became so drunk she passed out, and one of the bartenders brought her

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I was excited to read this story after just the blurb and it didn't disappoint for me. This is a wonderfully written story about Libby, who gets jilted at the steps of the church on her wedding day by Richard. However, since Libby is a workaholic it seems and booked her honeymoon at a failing resort so she can try and get them to partner with her employer to be bought out, she still goes on her "honeymoon". First off, I could tell in the Forward that Melanie Summers is someone that I could hang out with. She comes across as funny and I think she would be fun to have a pint with and just chat.
The Honeymooner was an enjoyable read and the perfect summer book.

Libby, the main character, is a typical type A personality. She pretty much has her entire life mapped out and although there is no excitement, she seems to be ok with that.
The story starts on her "wedding" day, the seemingly perfect day takes a

Loved this book, my favorite character is Rosy! I want someone like her on my side. Let me tell you, I think Libby is fantastic as well, being left at the Alter and thinking that her ex-fiancé only needs time is quickly forgotten when she gets to Santa Valentina Island, the place where she was suppose to have her honeymoon and meets the resort owner "Reef". I love the interaction between these two the attraction is right there and they dance around it, come close then back off again. I wanted to ...more

Even though she's devastated, she decides to continue on her honeymoon. After all, her job's on the line if she can't get the owner of the resort to sell to the company she works for.

This delightful rom-com features a jilted buttoned-up corporate type and a devil-may-care resort owner. Harrison Banks and Libby Dewitt couldn't be more opposite if they tried. She's at Paradise Bay to try to convince Harrison to sell the resort to her company. He's not going to let that happen. There are missteps along the way but there's something magical about being on a Caribbean island that lends itself to romance and happy endings.

I really enjoyed this story. It was very interesting. It has a very unique story line which grabbed your attention from page one on. I loved all the characters in the book especially the hero, Harrison. He was such a genuinely nice person... Someone whom you would love to know... Libby was understandably so mixed up like a real person would be and I enjoyed her inner discussions as she worked her way through her dilemmas ...... many of them were amusing and witty...
