Flying High, Flying on an Airplane for the Very First Time
Lindie Lou is an adorable puppy who loves an adventure. She is named after her father, Lynwood Lou Peek-a-boo because they both have huge front paws. But, Lindie Lou looks just like her mother, Molly. They both have soft brown fur, long floppy ears, and big green eyes. Her owners, Joe and Sherry promised the puppy who looks the most like Molly to a family member who lives in the Emerald City.
Lindie Lou’s adventures take her outside for the first time, to a museum with a ten-story slide, on a puppy play date with children from a local shelter, and on an airplane for the very first time. Come along for the ride while Lindie Lou learns life lessons, discovers what it’s like to find a best friend, flies above the clouds with a wise dog named Max, and arrives in the Emerald City.

Bender's writing talent was discovered early on when she received high praise for her poetry and early compositions. Bender continued to write, sharing her travel stories with friends and family. They encouraged her to put her adventures in book format.
Bender hired a creative writing professor in Seattle to help improve her writing skills. She also continued her education in the UK at Oxford University.
The first book in the Lindie Lou Adventure Series was published in 2015.

Colorful and fun text fonts make this an appealing boo for 1st and 2nd grades. The hints throughout the story are good for introducing research skills.

This is an adorable story about a puppy named Lindie Lou and her four brothers and sisters. They are born in St. Louis and live there until they are adopted. Lindie Lou is adopted by a family in "The Emerald City" which is the nickname for the city of Seattle. When she is dropped off at the airport Lindie Lou is frightened. Another dog, Max is also flying to Seattle. Max helps Lindie Lou learn life lessons and face her fears. Since this book is written through the eyes of Lindie Lou, it makes it easy to instantly fall in love with this memorable character.

This was such a cute book! I’m not familiar with reading levels so I’m not really sure which age exactly to recommend it to but it was one of my only children’s chapter books in recent years. I really enjoyed the cute illustrations and the songs, especially with the QR codes added in. The story itself was really cute and engaging. I’m sure young readers that love dogs will love this book and it’s adorable puppy gang. Lindie Lou went on some exciting adventures before finding her forever home.

One day, Lindie Lou finds that she is going to be adopted by a distant family. She will soon be taking her first flight. This cute puppy conquers her anxieties, gains life experience, and never gives up. Flying High, the book one in the Lindie Lou series by Jeanne Bender is a fun children's read where a puppy named, Lindie Lou makes new friends, visits her siblings, and moves from city to city.
The book is written in a very simple language so that small children can enjoy. The author something uses cool fonts to emphasize few words and make it more attractive. It has beautiful illustration to grab the attraction of any children. There are also few lines of songs that childrens can sing and have fun. The author also have provided quick questions that children can answer. The cherry on the top is the fun fact section. Overall, Flying High is an interactive read that small children are bound to enjoy. I highly recommend this book.

I had grandma duty all week and part of the joy included reading this chapter book with my 5 year old grandson. He loved the story of Lindie Lou and all the puppies. It was fun to read since his family recently added a new puppy to their household. Tonight right after tucking him in after a LONG day, he came running back downstairs to remind me that we didn't finish Lindie Lou and WE HAD TO READ OUR CHAPTERS! That is a solid endorsement! When a VERY tired little boy doesn't want to go to bed until he we have read the chapters of Lindie Lou, you know you have a worthwhile story. We will definitely continue to read the series.

"Flying High: Flying on an Airplane for the Very First Time" written by the author Jeanne Bender and illustrated by Kate Willows is an intriguing read. The main character of the story is a little puppy named Lindie Lou. Lindie Lou along with her brothers and sisters were raised by Molly. Joe and Sherry once made their garage as a Puppy Playground for the puppies.
Sherry's sister Kate has asked for a puppy that looks just like Molly. Lindie Lou is such a puppy but Sherry wants to keep her. However, she also needs to keep her promise to Kate. Read this story to know where Lindie Lou would go.
The adventures of Lindie Lou when she ran out of the door and played with the leaves, when she flew high, etc made the story more enjoyable. Lindie Lou's character is immediately likable. Get to know about her flying high experience.
The characters are written well by the author. I had a great time reading this book. The illustrations are beautiful and make the story more lively. I appreciate Jeanne's storytelling skills. The language used in the book is easy to follow. Parents should definitely add this book to their children's bookshelf. Lindie Lou and her littermates are an endearing bunch of puppies who like to have adventures and learn things along the way. In this first book we are introduced to the litter and to the humans who care for them, they have adventures together and then each pup finds its forever home. Each chapter is a manageable length and contains graphics that help readers to feel accomplished without being overwhelmed. Recommended for early readers, especially those who love dogs. (I received a digital copy of this book through Publisher's Weekly's Grab a Galley giveaway.)
