A poignantly realistic and deeply moving love story that will take you on a journey of fame, fortune, and finding a second chance at love.
Read the complete Love's Encore Trilogy in this special omnibus edition, which contains all three unabridged books in one convenient bundle.
A Road Through Mountains While working back stage at a suburban Connecticut community theater, star-crossed lovers Rorie and Cecily are reunited almost twenty years after their relationship came to an abrupt end. Can they overcome the ghosts of the past to find their happily ever after together?
Your Name in Lights The second book of the series finds Rorie and Cecily embarking on a new life in sunny California, but will the pressures of time, distance, and some very persistent paparazzi be too much for them?
Fifty Percent Illusion In the final book of the series, Rorie and Cecily are looking forward to a quiet, predictable life when unexpected news changes the course of their future forever. Can the twists and turns of fate lead to a happy ending?
Originally from southern California, Miranda now lives in New England and writes heartfelt romances and romantic comedies featuring witty and charmingly flawed women that you'll want to marry. Or just grab a coffee with, if that's more your thing. Before becoming a writer, she spent way too many years in graduate school, worked in professional theater and film, and held temp jobs in just about every office building in downtown Boston. Cecily and Rorie meet again after many years have passed and life took them in different directions. As their story progresses they not only find each other again, but finally, for Cecily, she is getting a chance to make her dreams come true. Between the pressures of family, unexpected situations, and a relationship, both Cecily and Rorie both endure much drama, heartache, and a realisation that the path to true love was never going to be a smooth one, but that happiness is there, if they just work hard to achieve all they ever dreamed of when they were younger, and that it is up to them to make it happen.
The omnibus edition of this series contains all three stories, A Road Through Mountains, Your Name In Lights, and Fifty Percent Illusion, that follow the blossoming second chance romance for Cecily and Rorie. Each story takes a part of their life as they take chances and try to make those dreams they once had a reality at a later stage in life. The stories cover so many realistic elements, from earning forgiveness, owning mistakes, and explaining past actions. There was a really deep connection between Cecily and Rorie, and I am so glad we got the opportunity to embark on this massive adventure for them.
A lot of the first story focuses on Cecily finally breaking free and following her heart, the second story holds equal obstacles for Rorie and Cecily in finding a settled status in their new lives, and on new adventures and it really tests their relationship, but it is the third story that finally connects all the dots and seals whether their ending will be a happy one. This for me was such an exciting adventure, and having a bumper collection of the stories together like this meant not having to wait for an instalment and reading it as a complete series in one go, which was an experience.
I had such an amazing time getting emotionally lost in Cecily and Rorie’s whirlwind romance that I barely put this book down. I absolutely adored the story, and hope these two might make an appearance in another in future (even if it is just a short story) because I would love to see more from them. They really were fated to be together and something truly beautiful was between them. I highly recommend this series, and the bumper addition will keep you busy for days and you can really sink your teeth into it!
Got to say I didn’t know what to expect when I started with this one, but turned out a great surprise, this is the complete trilogy and I couldn’t be happier, Miranda MacLeod did an excellent job and it is a wonderful read.
It is the story of Cecily and Rorie, starting in book one: 'A road through mountains', we witness their reunion after 18 years their relationship abruptly ended, Cecily is working as a volunteer in the backstage of a theatre in suburban of Connecticut and she never thought when they told her an academy award will be joining them to help would be the only person that has made her feel alive and had truly loved, not did Rorie. They both have been mourning their loss on their own way and suffering for their own reasons, the question here is if they are going to be able to go through their past and find each other again, will fate play a role in this?
In the second book: 'your name in lights', Cecily and Rorie are getting on their way to a new adventure together in California, while Rorie is going back to her old life but now with the love of her life beside her, Cecily is starting to fulfil her dream but there’s a new menace to their relationship as being a public figure will cause paparazzi to make an appearance, the question this time is if they will be able to overcome the pressure of the tabloids and being so open in the light.
By the third and final book: 'Fifty percent illusion', Rorie and Cecily are in a new stage of their relationship and looking for a life without any more surprises and to enjoy themselves to the best this time and hopefully forever, but of course life is always full of surprises and didn’t gave them a break, with a new challenge in their lives, the last question is if they will make it and will finally get their happy ending.
It is a well written story, a second chance romance and a clear journey about love, fame, fortune and the most important thing in a relationship…communication, there were times I wanted to shake some reason in them and start communicating as they should from the beginning, I love when great characters are so well written and they grow so much that I get so invested with them, scream at them when they make mistakes, laugh and cry with them as well, they are very lovable characters. The story kept me turning the pages until the end, it is a great read and a powerful, inspiring story about love, trust and not being afraid to face your fears.
I received a free copy of this book form the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Who says you never get a second chance at first love? Cecily and Rorey met in college through the theater and fell head over heals for each other. But when Cecily went home for Christmas her Senior year, she never returned. Eighteen years later, her son is about to graduate from boarding school and she is in a loveless marriage. She volunteers at the local theater, who is bringing in an Oscar winning scene designer to do the sets for their next production. Thus Cecily is reunited with her first love, Rorey. But can love be rekindled after abandonment? This story follows Cecily and Rorey from their reunion in a Connecticut theater, to the sound stages of Hollywood, to the deep south where old family issues are lying in wait for both our leading ladies, to location shoots that separate them and test their trust in one another, to the process of reaching the place where they truly belong. Epic in scope, but sweet and heartwarming when needed. The characters are the real stars. If you're like me, you'll miss them when you finish their story.
Love’s Encore… WOW… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Miranda MacLeod has deviated slightly from what I usually anticipate as I open any of her novels, or in this case the Love’s Encore Omnibus… with less “Com” and a more enduring “Rom”, what an exhilarating adventure, following Rosie and Cicily from college dorms to (spoiler alert) life together on the ranch as the reach their 50’s! Un-put-downable… I read the complete trilogy in just over a day (plus an almost sleepless night) but it was worth the sleep depravation! Don’t miss this one, it delves below the surface more than most by MM… Love’s Encore provides an unexpected beginning (at least unlike most sapphfic) as to how their life together evolves and takes you along on their journey. Set aside some time, because if you’re anything like me, you won’t want to stop once you’ve started… and enjoy… this ones a ripper!
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher, having previously read and enjoyed books by this same author. I loved the combination of the three books into one volume allowing the reader to follow the lives of Rorie and Cecily beyond them simply 'getting together', which is all one volume would permit. What I really enjoy about MacLeod's writing is that her characters are genuinely engaging, interesting and often really surprising - they don't always 'follow the script' just as we don't in real life - and that makes them interesting and more realistic than is often the case in this genre of writing. This is a 'feel-good' volume, something to read on vacation for pure pleasure or on a long-haul flight to pass the time. The delightful characters and plot twists will keep you entertained throughout.
First, obviously, I think, is Cecily’s difficult journey from put-upon, bullied, martyr housewife, to divorced, out-and-proud lesbian. And that we can see the changes and they make sense, is a huge credit to the author’s gift of writing.
Second, Rorie’s journey back to Cecily’s arms, which she never wanted to leave in the first place, and her continuing willingness to be vulnerable, no matter how hard it was.
Real people have fits and starts in their growth. And real people are brave in some aspects and not so brave in others. These characters are as real as it gets.
This book waltzes right in with enormous baggage and immediately begins the fascinating process of unpacking. By chapter three I felt pleasantly surrounded by full color plot points, endearing protagonists; and couldn't put it down. I'm glad I read the whole trilogy in this omnibus edition.
The story involved two protagonists, Rorie and Cecily, who had a fling in college and are thrown back together for a theater production after being out of one another's lives for 20 years. It's kind of a "second-chance at love" story, but also it's a lovely "coming of middle age" story as well. I adored it all the way through.
Full disclosure, I obtained this about three years ago through a freebie discount offer, but would gladly have paid full price. (As usual with freebies I feel like I owe the author a giant coffee beverage if she ever comes through town.)
Well the great part is that this book had a theme throughout the telling. I found myself siding with Rorie more times than with Cecily. The way Cecily was always having conflicting thoughts and emotions which caused so much turmoil in the relationship was astounding. Rorie on the other hand didn’t feel she could share her feelings about their relationship. Was glad to see the main characters finally worked out the issues. Bring children into the story added a depth of realism to the story. Great book.
I really enjoyed reading the trilogy and getting to know Rorrie and Cecily from when they first fell in love in their twenties to when they hit 50. I also enjoyed Cecily's journey from an unhappy married woman to a newlywed again with her true soul mate. Rorrie goes from a successful career to a career doing something that she is passionate about and loves doing. Great characters,
I am embarrassed to say I purchased these books 3 years ago. Until you sent a recent e-mail I had forgotten. I am glad I checked my library. I loved this story and how love never dies. I hate that they did not communicate what was going on, but true love always wins in the end. I have read your other books, I am just sorry it took me so long to find this one series.
I love reading series, so that I can watch the character development and relationship(s) progress. The flashbacks back to college are short, and almost make me wish for a bit more... but not much more. I like how Cecily transforms from a sheltered rich wife (seriously, Darien, CT is one of the richest towns in the country) to an independent partner for Rorie out in Los Angeles.
Truth, honesty, strength and confidence. Two people who have lost each other at such a young age have found one another again. The book is about taking a chance and learning about the true priorities of what lives we all want to live to accomplish what happiness is.
Cecily DuPont Parker is a wife and mother who hates her marriage but loves her son. Bored, she volunteers to help back stage at the Community Theatre. On the first day she runs into Rorie Mulloy whom she betrayed in college. These three stories are the story of their young love, separation and journey in life. Very good author. Love her books.
Started strong, then became extremely boring, then it became interesting. MS Macleod is a hit or miss books. This one was a miss for me. All three of them.
The adoption part was well written. Overall not bad.
My heart is full of warmth after reading about Rorie and Cici's journey of love. Probably my most favourite work by Miranda thus far. If you are into second chance romance, this would be perfect for you. ❤️
What a great series about overcoming a families way if life and changing southern values. Glad it all worked out in the end and was a book showcasing the older lesbians
Very nice read of a second chance, with slightly older women. Life is a series of ups and downs, and proving you can make it in life and work with a partner.
An amazing trilogy of two dynamic and incredible women that found each other again after 18 years. A second chance that neither woman wanted to lose again.
