I am, first and foremost, a storyteller and an artist--words are my palette. Fantasy is my genre of choice, and I love to explore the darker side of human nature through the filter of fantasy heroes, villains, and everything in between. I'm also a freelance writer, a book lover, and a guy who just loves to meet new people and spend hours talking about my fascination for the worlds I encounter in the pages of fantasy novels.

Fantasy provides us with an escape, a way to forget about our mundane problems and step into worlds where anything is possible. It transcends age, gender, religion, race, or lifestyle--it is our way of believing what cannot be, delving into the unknowable, and discovering hidden truths about ourselves and our world in a brand new way. Fiction at its very best!

Assigned- I'm going to give this one the benefit of the doubt, especially since it looks to be so well received. Ideally, one doesn't start with book four in a high fantasy series. I'd have read the first three before reading this one if I'd had time before the deadline, but sadly, I don't. However, I was still able to grasp the gist of it for the most part. 3.5 rounded up.

To me these books seem more grown up in content and style than Peloquin’s usual books, which I am thoroughly enjoying.

I really loved the characters in this book both good and bad and the world building is imagination inspiring. All the characters have very interesting back stories and are rich in detail and depth. I really loved the way The Hunter’s personality is portrayed in this story it develops wonderfully from the previous three.

Fast paced and packed full of action, beautiful fighting styles, deceit, demons and characters with rich personalities, this book is as good as the first three with a satisfying ending.

This book begins with some exciting action. The main character, the Hunter, is hanging by his fingertips to the edge of a high mountain. He is on his way to confront the most evil and possibly the most powerful demon he has ever encountered. But first he must survive the climb up the cliff face!

He seeks information about who and what he is and is certain he will be given the details he needs by the demon master, Sage. However, everything is not as easy as the Hunter thought it would be. Another demon, the Warmaster, is also in the same location, and to make matters worse, he is enormously big and dangerously powerful. This is an added complication that the Hunter didn't expect.

Things go from bad to worse, when the hunters young ward, Hailen, is abducted by Sage. The Hunter must get him back and secure the cure for the sickness that Hailen is suffering from, the cure that Sage keeps well hidden.

This is the most exciting of the series thus far. With amazing action and twists and turns coming at us left, right, and center; this book is really gripping and had me on the edge of my seat, especially throughout the fight sequences, which were truly explosive and dramatic. Boy what a rush!

You honestly won't be disappointed by this book. The characters and plot will remain with you long after you have finished it.

Just when you think a series cannot get any better it just does, this the 4th book in the Hero of Darkness Series is I believe the most powerful yet. The Hunter is travelling with Halien, the boy he took from the House of Need after he massacred everyone, he is the only person who ever stilled the voices in his head and now his eyes had turned purple, hunter knew he was special and that he had to protect this boy whatever the cost. He travels to Kara-Ket, to the twin temples at the peak of the highest mountain range, the Shana Laal in search of the Sage who he wanted to kill. The sage is an Abiarazi who seems to be pulling the strings of all the other Abiarazi the hunter encountered. When he arrives at the twin temples he finds out that the Warmaster and his Masters of Agony live in the other temple and he plays a game, playing them off agianst each other, intending to kill both demons never realising the danger he was putting himself into and the game the sage was playing with him as his pawn. He learns a lot about his past from Master Eldor, an Elivasti he knew before and discovers that Halien was in more danger than ever because of the Irrsinnon, the madness which afflicts all Elivasti and which he could not let Halien fall prey too. This book is not for the fainthearted, the experiences Hunter has at the cruel and sadistic Warmaster's hands in his torture chamber are scary and had hunter not been an immortal Buceleraii, he definitely would not have survived. I, being totally human and a big wimp died in his place I think just from fear through my imagination at the vivid and detailed descriptions. A very gripping dark book which continues to keep us wanting to read about this amazing character, the Hunter! So onward to Enarium.

Great book

The Hunter finds himself trying to protect the boy he has come to love. The child stops the demons in the Hunter’s head from screaming all the time and the Hunter protects the boy. Now they are searching for the Sage who has many answers that the Hunter needs.

This is number 4 in the series and I have to admit getting better with every single one. How the Hunter survives is truly baffling. Highly recommended.

The Hunter never waivers in his goal of wanting to keep Hailen safe. This turns out to be a more difficult task then he could imagine. Betrayal could come at any time and from any direction as he tries to juggle the Sage and Warmaster at the same time. There are plenty of action filled battle scenes. Be prepared, as you will see the the darker side of where evil thoughts can lead as the Hunter is tested both mentally and physically.

This is the fourth book in the Darkblade series and it starts of with a bang . The Hunter will do anything in his power to keep Haileen safe . He is literally hanging by his finger tips on the edge of a cliff on his way to find the Sage the worst demon yet . When he finds the Kara-ket and hopefully the cure for Haileen . Will Haileen and Hunter survive to get everything they need .
This book has taken the hunter to a new level . He has grown into more then an assassin . He has evolved into a protector of Haileen . He wants to get answers to help the young boy in his care . Don't get me wrong it is great to see the other side of the Hunter . But he does still have the assassin in him . When he comes across the Sage and the War master . Two beings that are evil in different ways one is a sociopath and the other is a psychopath. I think that my favourite character in this book is Haileen . He is such a sweet young boy who needs protecting but he also can calm the Hunter down . There are moments you want to wrap Haileen up and hug him tight and the next moment you are cheering him on.
This book has it all , the twists and turns will have you reading well into the night . The character are well written and complex. The story moves at a fast pace and you will be hooked by the third page . You will love the interaction between characters and there will be times that you will take the Sage's side cause you just don't know if he is a good guy or horrible . The twists and turns are great you will be on the edge of your seat through out most of this book . You will want to hug Haileen a few times and cheer the Hunter on through out the book . This series just keeps getting better and better with each story we see the Hunter evolving into more then an assassin . I suggest that you start at the beginning and read the series in order so you know what is happening and you see the Hunter grow and evolve . This series would be great for reading around the camp fire or the pool on those lazy days of summer

Ok, I picked this series up as a random. I was surfing Kindle Unlimited Fantasy and thought it looked worth my time.
It wasn't.
But I plodded on. I kept going, reading Books I-4 in 4 days. I had my kindle read it to me while I work (seamstress work leaves my imagination free).
I ameas going to do separate reviews but, why? I'll take a page from the authors book and just do one review and copy/paste it over and over again.

The author has a solid base story but repeats and recaps everything from whe thoughts of the main character to the series of events, to actual peoples names OVER AND OVER AND OVER again in the same book. Then does it again in each book! This and all of the 4 I read are a repetitive waste of time. I would give it 1 star but it earned a star by being on Kindle Unlimited therefore not something in going to have to ask a refund for.

DNF 4th book, I decided on a new series. I don't think I'll be finishing this series.

Hailen is the Hunter's anchor... It will also be his lost son?
Our hero (or anti-hero) will protect that child against everything and everyone, no matter what the cost. Sage already tricked him once to force him to enforce his own plans and now has become the prey of Hunter, who will chase him throughout Einan if necessary, to carry out his revenge.
The author, as usual, has given us a new and excellent book in the saga of Darkblade Hero of Darkness without losing for a moment the continuity in the stories. I love the way Andy writes, each of his books is a gateway to the world of Einan, where we can accompany the Hunter in his adventures and share in his desire to cleanse the world of the repulsive Abiarazi.

On one level, the Hunter of Voramis is a dark hero, struggling to recover his stolen memories and save, if not the world, at least one precious part of it.

On another level, the Hunter is Everyman - his dual nature, of a human-demon hybrid, externalising the image of the human soul, with its immense capacity for both good and evil. In this dramatic saga, laden with love, hope, betrayal and many deeds of derring-do, we see enacted the old, old drama of good vs evil.

Even at the more superficial level, it's a wonderful story, smoothly written, with well-drawn characters and a ripping fast pace. But on the deeper level, it's utterly gripping.

Highly recommended, as well as to lovers of dark fantasy, to lovers of adventure and of allegory.

WOW again what can I say! 👍👍 and 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Andy Peloquin is on a role! This was intense very intense but awesome! I can't say enough about these books. They are Dark Fantasy, they are disruptive but done in a way that for me does not totally gross me out. I have to say that This set of books will be added to my top ten favorites list. Andy Peloquin is a gifted and talented writer. I won't be surprised to one day find him on the NYT best sellers list along side of Brandon Sanderson! Way to go Andy Peloquin please keep writing!

Tantalizing

Finally through the skin and into the juicy fruit of the mysteriously compelling twisted dark past of the Hunter. This part of his painfully won uncovering of more of his elusive extensive past is well worth the trip. Both the Sage and the Warmaster prove the most enigmatic fascinating potential nemeses of the Hunter. Yet once again he proves nemesis to be his rightful claim. Remain most fascinated by the Sage. Keep up the fascinating complex historical weave Andy Peloquin.

It just doesn’t matter! No matter how many times the hunter tries to do right or get ahead, more and more mysteries, danger, and torture lay in wait for him. I cringe with every page flip waiting for the worst to happen to anyone he tries to protect. I just can’t fathom how this authors imagination gives birth to some of these scenes. Is it nightmares or.....I shudder at the or. A glutton for punishment, the next book is being downloaded as i write this review. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

He was going to go and end them but going there he may find there is more there than he thought. They need to be ended. He will face things he didn't expect. He may learn more about himself but may find something worse. What will he do? Will he release them? See what will happen next
I received an advanced copy and I enjoyed it so much that I want to review

Well Readers, Andy has gone and done it again! I didn't think that Hunter could get any better, but the story just keeps you up reading way past your bedtime. Hunter is really a contradicting character, assassin, protector, and who knows what comes next. I can't wait to see what is next in this great story.

Seeking true

This was an epic book in this series. Couldn't tell who was what till the reveal. Twists anew turns plenty and still the past hidden. This book hooked me further purely with th anguish of being caught between two cheated by one and tortured by the other. Thank the gods for Soulhunger. An amazing series that definitely needs reading in order.

This book is the first of the 3 part finale, if you will. This is the beginning of the largest "mini series" of the big picture story. We get to meet the 2 worst abiarazi, one of which is totally obvious and the other is the mastermind behind all of Einan's suffering. This is a high paced book with non-stop action and suspense. My hands down favorite of the Hero of Darkness series!

Repeat

Once again could be much shorter as many things are repeated over and over. Though I aim to read the series now I have begun do think it could likely have been half as long and would have been better for it
