For the plant-obsessed woman of any age, this humorous, illustrated little book celebrates the devotion and quirky habits plants inspire.
You know you’re a crazy plant lady when watering is a hobby, you can’t resist a cute pot, and just looking at succulents and monsteras makes you smile. This charming celebration of the plant lady lifestyle proves that plant love is the joy that keeps growing. There are sweet puns: Aloe you vera much. Plant lady dreams: thrifting the perfect vintage mister. Relatable mantras: Every day is a good day to go plant shopping. All featuring vibrant art by Isabel Serna throughout—plus, a bonus sheet of plant-themed stickers!
I might have enjoyed this book more if I were truly a crazy plant lady, but I'm more of a crazy cat lady, and one illustration said "Plant lady is the new cat lady," a sentiment with which I strongly disagree. The book seemed more repetitive than the cat lady volume. The illustrations are nice, and it's a gift book I'm sure plant ladies will enjoy. Workman Publishing invited me to download an electronic galley through NetGalley. NetGalley's terms expect an honest review for e-galleys received.
This is a cute and funny little book. It would make a lovely gift for plant lovers. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Like the crazy cat lady book, shorts sentences with illustrated representations, but with plant crazy lady. Not as good as the first one though. The crazy plant lady is a lot less funny probably because the crazy plant lady is a lesser stereotype. I never knew a crazy plant lady or hear of one. If you know one then maybe you’ll find it funny but I didn’t.
This is a really cute little book (You can read this book in 5 minutes) filled with vibrant pictures and little sayings and factoids about plants. I guess I am a crazy plant lady! So needless to say, I was able to appreciate this book a lot! Especially helpful was the "Should I get this plant" flow chart. I loved how everything led to "GET THE PLANT!" Ha! This book would make a cute gift.
Thank you to NetGalley and Workman Publishing Company for the advance copy!
Cute book, but not as entertaining as the Crazy Cat Lady book. I love plants but I guess I just can't identify. It would make a nice gift for a real crazy plant lady.
Thank you to Workman Publishing Company and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
Light on text but humorous, this is a fast read that would make a great gift for someone who self-identifies as a plant lady. Come for the plant puns, stay for the vibrant and cute illustrations.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via Netgalley for review consideration.
CANIJUSTSAYIHADNOIDEAITCAMEWITHSTICKERSATTHEBACKWHATAPLEASANTSURPRISE I LOVE STICKERS!!! I, of course, purchased this #crazyplantlady book since I am both a crazy book lady and a crazy plant lady. I give it 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ based on cuteness and gift ability...AND STICKERS WITH FOIL?? *SWOON* 🌱 LIKED: the illustrations are great, and it will definitely make any fan of houseplants smile. I've found myself nodding or laughing to many of the pages in there, constantly thinking "yep, that's me!" We've all been there! ALSO, STICKERS. 🌵 DISLIKED: I wish there was just a little more written content...but again, cant complain too much cause this was more of a gift book. 🌱 Overall, great present for the crazy plant ladies in your life...or yourself if you are one! If all roads lead to more plants, then this is for you! 🌵 Also shout out to the Workman Publishing booth for killing it at #bookcon2019 ..they had a nice discount all weekend, a great spin the wheel giveaway, and adorable totes..( super cute and PLENTY FOR EVERYONE unlike some other publishing houses 👀) AND their staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! My favorite booth by far this year. .
I feel weird counting this toward my book goal for the year, but technically I read it, though there are very few words.
I haven't looked at her other book so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was thinking this would be more of a true graphic novel (like some of the Introvert-themed graphic novels that are out there and similar in size). This is essentially art combined with instagram-like captions added to them...a book of memes, if you will.
That said, the art is stunning and as a plant-mom I'm totally into it. It's so pretty that I just bought the 2020 mini calendar for my desk at work, and so that I can cut out the images when it's done and use them to decorate with.
A so-so collection of cartoons, flow diagrams and similar things, all designed to appeal to the female plant hoarder. The only thing is that a lot of it is blank, and a great amount of it is hardly a cartoon – it reads more like a selection of cut-out-and-keep self-justifying posters and motivational messages. As a result a lot of it reads like being in a plant-themed gift/card shop. Which is not my idea of fun. And I'd call this out if it shared any more content with the similar book about Crazy Cat Ladies, for they're completely interchangeable at times.
I received this sweet little book as a Christmas present and I so enjoyed it. I love the art by author/artist Isabel Serna. I want to move in and live in her pictures. This book made me laugh out loud every time I recognized myself as a Crazy Plant Lady. Also - it's aspirational! I've got work to do to be a truly Crazy Plant Lady, although I've got more than 10 plants, and at least three of them have names: Frank, Delores, and Lucinda. Sweet book. I also received a 2023 calendar with Serna's art that I can enjoy the rest of the year!
An appropriate addition to any plant lover’s coffee table.
Crazy Plant Lady is a cute, simple book that’s more about aesthetic than substance. The pages are filled with vibrant cartoon-style illustrations and a lighthearted look into the toolkit of a “crazy plant lady.” While there are a handful of genuinely interesting facts, they’re brief and scattered.
This book is perfectly fine and makes for a charming decorative piece. It isn’t designed to be read for depth or great learning, but rather to look nice and set a mood.
With a pink aesthetic and possibly the most adorable art I've seen in a while, Crazy Plant Lady is a quirky and silly book filled with truths, checklists, charts and just so many other wholesome things, It's something that I just need to put on my bookshelf, and also maybe get for my other plant obsessed friends.
This book was aptly gifted to me by a fellow crazy plant lady. The book is adorable, the text is great to read, and the pictures are fun to view! In addition, there were plant stickers, so that was a great surprise. I highly encourage this read for the crazy plant lady in your life, even if it is yourself. :)
Crazy Plant Lady is a really cute little gift book with beautiful illustrations. I bought the book for a Crazy Plant Lady friend who I saw in pretty much every cartoon or quote throughout the book. She seemed to approve.
Fun gift book. I do love my plants and have taken to collecting more since the start of the pandemic. Fortunately, I haven’t quite reached the stays of crazy plant lady yet, as it is defined in this book.
After getting the calendar I felt like I just had to buy the book sight unseen. And boy am I glad I did. This book is utterly delightful for any plant parent, no matter the gender. I want this author to be my friend.
I guess it's a gift book, you buy it for someone as a laugh. Someone bought it for us, as a laugh no doubt. But I thought the observations and cartoons were pretty good. As accurate as cliches tend to be.
I'm buying this book to read again and again. It's super cute, aesthetically pleasing, and will definitely help motivate me to care for my plants and get more.
