A lovely winter read suitable for young children. The illustrations are beautiful too. My two year old son enjoyed reading this with me, particularly as we have lots of snow right now and this morning it reached -10 degrees Celsius!
The wintery pictures fill the pages with cold and snow, until this shivering little bear finally finds a place that is cozy and warm, a house with a lonely little girl. It’s a cute story, in rhyme, but the rhymes don’t all work, and the bear can’t find a home because some of the places are filled with other animals and their babies. The problem is that mid-winter isn’t the time for babies. And it is a little strange that the little girl is all alone.
A dark commentary on the harsh realities of singledom.
Just kidding.
A cold, snowy bear tries to find shelter, but there's no room in any of the animals' cub-filled homes. Finally, he finds a toasty house with a lonely little girl inside. The two form a fast friendship and settle in for a long winter's nap.
As usual, a few of the rhymes in this one were a little rough, but the SUPER CUTE illustrations saved it.
Sweet and cozy, perfect for bedtime on a cold and blustery day. I felt so sad for the poor little lost bear, and I was so happy he found a friend and a warm place by the end.
(I was just very curious as to what sort of parents leave their child alone in the winter in a place where a bear can just walk in... overthinking? absolutely.)
Kuvitus selvästi vetosi kuopukseen, sillä tätä kirjaa on luettu useamman kerran eilisen kirjastoreissun jälkeen. Riimittely ontuu mielestäni paikoin ja näitä ystävän löytämiskirjoja on tusinassa 15 samantyylisellä kuvituksella toteutettuna.
In need of a sweet story that will make you feel like you're wrapped in a fluffy, comfortable old quilt? Look no further than Tony Mitton and Alison Brown's Snowy Bear. Mitton's text has perfect pacing and rhyme which, paired Brown's color palette of blue and read and soft illustrations, make this adorable story ideal for bedtime reading.
A "tired snowy bear" looks for a warm place to snuggle down and finds a house with a lonely little girl to nap with and cuddle.
This was a little gem I found in the neighborhood little free library and it's become a favorite. I like the rhymes and enjoy doing voices for the different animals.
Although I don't think books always have to be realistic, I think it's a fair criticism some other reviewers had that most animals don't have their young in winter. The baby animals are an important plot point.
Overall, super cute book. I love the color contrast between the bear's cold blue journey and the orange warmth of the little house.
The kids loved this one and requested re-reads. The illustrations by Alison Brown are super cute - Snowy Bear ressembles a small teddy bear, except that he walks and thinks. (Snowy bear is smaller than the little human girl in this book.) Not really sure why the girl was alone at home but this didn’t seem to bother the kids.
It’s written in rhyme. Some phrases work better than others, but overall, it’s a sweet story about finding friendship & warmth.
Good for: Snowy day reads and fans of walking, talking teddy bears.
It is winter and it is really cold. A lonely little bear is trying to find a home. This book was a book that openly made my daughter sad. She felt bad for the cute little bear. So warning--if your child has any feelings whatsoever they probably will feel the exact same way. No need to fear though; the story ends on a good note. The illustrations were lovely and really enhanced the story. Would recommend.
Ohmygosh adorbs! This picture book tells an adorable tale of a little bear looking for a good home for the winter. He and a little girl find a friend in each other and cuddle up together, playing games, reading books, and snuggling to sleep. The illustrations are so cute and radiate the cold outside and the coziness inside, and the rhyming text keeps little readers entranced.
WoW! What a beautifully illustrated heart touching story about a little polar bear that is looking for a home out of the cold wintery snow. After being drove away from many animal holes and dens, he finds a small cozy cottage with a lonely little girl. No spoilers! I highly recommend this book to kids of all ages especially on those cold winter days/nights.
I thought this was a cute book but I have read better books. It is about a bear who can't find somewhere to sleep and he is cold but he finally finds a house with another girl who is lonely so they hang out and go to sleep
My toddler asks for this one every night before bed. He giggles everytime the tufty gruff Owl shoos away snowy bear and wants a hug everytime Snowy Bear and the little girl cuddle. It may be my new favorite book.
