Brought up in Dublin contains a selection of poems written thoughout the author’s life, but which principally deal with his childhood and university years, as well as moments of Irish literary history, conveying something of what it was like to grow up in Dublin in the years of the Irish Free State. It and the companion volume, Brought up to Leave, provide the reader with a sense of some of the expriences that have influenced Derry Jeffares’ life.
