53 books518 followersBarbara Devlin was born a storyteller. A Texan, through and through, Barbara hasn’t been without a book in her possession since she was in kindergarten. She wrote her first short story, a really cheesy murder-mystery, in high school, but it was a Christmas gift, a lovely little diary with a bronze lock, given to her in the fifth grade that truly inspired her love for writing.
After completing part of her undergraduate studies at the University of London, Barbara returned home and began a career in banking. But the late 80’s weren’t too promising for the financial industry, and every bank that hired Barbara soon folded. So she searched for a stable occupation, and the local police department offered the answer to her prayers.
Initially, Barbara wasn’t too sure about her new chosen career in law enforcement, but she soon came to love being a police officer. However, on an uncharacteristically cold and icy day in December 1998, Barbara was struck by a car and pinned against a guardrail while working an accident on a major highway. Permanently disabled, she retired from the police department and devoted her time and energy to physical therapy.

She earned an MA in English, continued on a course of study for a Doctorate in Literature and Rhetoric, started writing historical fiction in her spare time, and completed five full-length novels featuring her fictional knighthood, the Brethren of the Coast. Sweet
Very sweet love story of a lord and a stablemaster's daughter.
I loved the unique sensitivity of Ernest...a man not ashamed to cry. This is a kind of Cinderella story done very well.
I would recommend this book to readers of historical romance.

The Stablemaster's Daughter (Regency Rendezvous Book 10) by Barbara Devin is a delightful love story that transcends social classes, a stablemaster's daughter and the second son of the
Marquess of Ravenwood. It can be read as a stand alone.
This is the journey of Henrietta Katherine Graham and Lord Ernest Cornelius Frederick Howe. And what a journey to fulfill their childhood love as just mere children, an eight separation and a happy reunion. While you can't call this story a second chance story, it really is, their love went from a childhood love to an adult love. Fantastic!
A quick read to me, with endearing and engaging cast of characters. I did not feel I missed anything nor did it feel rushed. I enjoyed the plot, which seemed effortlessly written, was very interesting and steady paced. Henrietta and Ernest's story will definitely capture your heart. With the help of family and friends they are determined to prove that a stablemaster's daughter and a Lord can make a powerful and compelling couple.
Ms. Devlin writes a story of romance, love, devotion, secrets, abuse by a parent, passion, healing, and is infused with acceptance from the ton and finding a HEA that will certainly have you holding your breath, as Henrietta and Ernest find their place in society. I absolutely loved "The Stablemaster's Daughter" story. A page turner, that came full circle!
"The Regency Rendezvous" series is proving to be a fantastic series. Well done, Ms. Devlin!

Once again Barbara Devlin has written a story infused with romance, heat and beloved characters from her spicy Pirate series. Fans of The Iron Corsair will rejoice in reading about the devoted and loyal brother Lord Ernest who deserves a happy-ever-after with the one woman he's never forgotten, his childhood crush Henrietta. When these former friends reunite it's page perfect.
Discover what happens when two kindred souls uncover a secret that nearly destroyed them both. Is there room for forgiveness? In order for a relationship to work there needs to be honesty, acceptance, and selfless acts of devotion. Will they finally succeed in being together forever?
I could not put my e-reader down until I finished. The details are rich and vivid. The pace moves fast, and the plot full of twists and surprises. It's time to dive in and read a book that is satisfying in every way and will leave you swooning for Lords, Pirates and romance.

If you're a fan of Devlin's work, then you may recognize some familiar faces. If you've read The Iron Corsair then you will recognize Ernest as Barrington's brother, who was betrothed to Lady Florance. After all his sacrifice for the family, Ernest finally gets his own turn at a HEA with the only person to ever touch his heart.
I found this to be very reminiscent of one of my favorite classic movies of all time. Like Sabrina, starring Humphrey Bogart and Aubrey Hepburn, Henrietta was in love with the master's youngest son her entire life. Unlike Sabrina, Henrietta's love affair is by far not one sided. Ernest has loved Henrietta just as long as she's loved him. However, due to their vastly different stations in life, their parents object to their closeness and intervene.
This spin-off story of The Iron Corsair surpasses my expectations in every way.

Interesting book
4 stars, didn’t find answer to crime at first of book, might have been answered in previous. I kept wondering who was guilty, and if they would show up later in book. I felt neither H/ h were very strong, and couldn’t seem to decide what they were going to do about lives, till end. I enjoyed the book, as author is good author. Have enjoyed her other books this one couldn’t get grip on what would happen. They seemed to really love each other, getting 2nd chance for love as children. Couldn’t seem to understand the other couple in book, it toward end liked very much. It had good love scenes. Not the best from author but good story. Enjoyed. It had. Good HEA. Would definitely read other books. Sorry for some reason can’t see what I M typing at end,can’t correct errors.

Good
I liked the overall story and the characters, but I had a hard time believing an 8 and 12 year old were in love, then went without any contact for 11 years, and knew right away they were in love and wanted to marry. I felt Earnest seemed to act older than his age where as at times Henrietta acted less mature. I did like the book for the most part and will read the next book in the series.

A delightful love story the transcends social classes. The stable masters daughter and the first son of her father’s boss. Rumors fly, wagers are set, and the mystery of forgery. Will truth and love win out! Read to find out.

A beautiful story about falling in love despite social classes. I loved the story and characters,even though at times I was like what is wrong with these vain people .You fall in love with the main characters and hope for the best by the end and this story did not disappoint. Five star read
