Confusion abounds in a world bent on rejecting a loving Creator's guidance on a life well lived. According to its author, Snubbing God shows how "biblical wisdom is opposed by a secular view that has at its heart a fundamental misunderstanding or outright disregard for God's creation and how he has designed it." Some of the issues Kuligin explores as a result of rebuffing God include gay marriage, abortion, climate change, animal rights, and evolution. Though pointing out the weaknesses of a secular viewpoint, the author provides convincing arguments for why living the way the Creator designed it leads to a rich and satisfying life. " Snubbing God is strong medicine," writes sociologist David Ayers in his foreword. "The reader will find it challenging at points-morally and intellectually. Few will agree with everything in it. Yet Kuligin has no desire to only preach to a choir, though certainly encouraging the saints is part of his aim. He is trying to get us to pull up short, to think, to reconsider the marvelous truths, and righteous demands, of the Bible and of its Author upon us."
Snubbing God is thoughtful and insightful without being unnecessarily provocative. Victor Kuligin challenges secular reasoning without condemning and highlights secular contradictions without being intellectually dishonest, all while promoting biblical truth without being a shill. Mr. Kuligin particularly takes on the philosophy of evolution and shows both its rational weaknesses and scientific problems. This book is bold in that Mr. Kuligin's beliefs and conclusions would be derided by most secular intellectuals. However, he is not writing to that audience, but rather to orthodox Christians to strengthen their resolve at a time when core truths are under attack.
A great book. Well researched. The truth hurts or helps, but it doesn't change. A good reference tool, especially on the topic of climate change. This book begins with the premise that macro evolution is bunk and that an infinitely intelligent (and loving) Creator reigns - even now. What happens when we ignore His will and His ways? I purchased multiple copies of this book.
Totally relevant to the state of our world today. As a Christ follower, Victor Kuligin takes on such subjects as evolutionary theory, environmental issues, gender roles, sexual morality and immorality, homosexuality, marriage, and the sanctity of life. Well researched with an impressive attention to details in his discussions. I found myself cheering his clear and Godly conclusions and his wisdom in helping the reader stand firm in the faith in the face of the cultural wars raging in our country.
Nothing more than complete drivel. A waste of time. You can get the same arguments from your average internet message boards with religious members on them. Kuligin shows a complete disregard for truth in his arguments. You might enjoy this book if you're a fundamentalist Christian. But the people he's presumably making this argument to, it fails on every single level. All in all it's absolutely nothing new. The same old arguments, many of them not even containing a single grain of truth.
