Favorite Quotes:

She didn’t deem to use Terri’s ex-husband’s name. Terri had barely managed to get her to stop calling him a rat bastard…

“Your hot neighbor? The man who causes the entire female population of your neighborhood to have hot flashes when he goes for a run without his shirt on?” Melanie fanned herself as her voice got progressively louder and louder. “That neighbor?”

“They say it was a random act of violence.” Mrs. Collins snorted in a very unladylike manner at that idea. “As if viole

This was a cute book to read, a combination of chick-lit and cozy, perfect for the Saturday afternoon.

The story goes thus, Terri finds a diamond necklace in the attic, she wants to give it to the rightful owners, hence goes in search of them. In due course, she finds herself entrusted with getting to the bottom of a murder and locating the right charity for the necklace to go to.

The book started at the right place, I liked Terri. She was a quiet high school librarian, separated from her husband

Terri is in the process of sorting through the boxes in the attic for something her ex husband wants, annoyed with herself for not forcing him to take his stuff when he moved out.

When her friend, Melanie arrives she helps Terri get the boxes downstairs. Later, as Terri is cleaning the now box free attic she makes an astonishing discovery. Hidden in a corner is a necklace. A large pear-shaped diamond on a platinum/white gold chain. Terri is understandably utterly astounded.

Terri is determined to

Every time a D.E. Haggerty books shows up in my Kindle it reminds me how much I've missed reading cozy mysteries. I get so caught up in reading the same few genres, forgetting where some of my love of reading came from. I need to make some changes and expand my horizons again.

What I love about books like this is imaging myself as the protagonist. Growing up I loved reading about Nancy Drew, the Hardy boys, and the Bobbsey twins, thinking how cool it would be to live their lives! To this day I st

4.5 stars!

Terri, recently divorced, was looking for her ex-husband's sweater in their attic when she stumbled upon a beautiful diamond necklace among the boxes in the storage. She didn't want to claim said necklace, nor did she believe that her ex had anything to do with it.

So she went through some digging up about its owner, with the help of her best friend Melanie and next-door hottie neighbor, Ryder, who also happened to be a private investigator. What she thought as a forgotten keepsake beca

If I had been in Terri's position and found a diamond necklace, I'm not so sure I would be willing to give it up or search for the owner.  Especially if I found it in my attic!

I am hoping that this is going to be a new series because the interaction between Terri, Ryder, and Melanie is engaging and comical at times.  Terri is in her early 40's and Ryder is in his 30's somewhere, but that doesn't stop him from wanting Terri or from acting like a "caveman" wanting her to stay out of harm's way.  I

Finders, Not Keepers is a cosy mystery, with a romantic thread, humour and suspense. Our heroine, Terri, is a 42-year-old school Librarian with a madcap friend, Melanie and a rather dishy younger neighbour, Ryder. Recovering from the collapse of her marriage to Alan, Terri decides to clear the attic of the last of his belongings. While there she discovers a valuable diamond pendant, so needs to contact the previous house owner. She is astonished to find out that Jessica, who had lived there two ...more

While cleaning out her attic, high school librarian Terri Patterson finds a large pear-shaped diamond pendant necklace on the floor in the corner of the attic. Terri thinks that the necklace must belong to the house's previous owner. Te

This book focuses on Terri, recently divorced. Finding a diamond pendant necklace in her attic, and trying to get it back to its rightful owner gets her in some unanticipated situations.

With "Finders, Not Keepers", D. E. Haggerty has created an expertly worded and very funny suspense story with a romantic touch. The story comprises a broad variety of believable characters with sufficient depth, hilarious moments, and interesting interactions to solve the case of the diamond pendant necklace. I h

Review: FINDERS, NOT KEEPERS by D. E. Haggerty
(The Not-so-Reluctant Detectives #1)

This delightful and adorable cozy mystery contains all I hope to encounter whenever I start a new cozy: warmth, good feelings, characters who readily elicit all my empathy, an involving plot with suspense, and of course, amateur sleuths. In this novel, we also have a Librarian, an amateur sleuth who is wonderfully kind-hearted and good-intentioned individual, and a feckless heroine. All those facets combine in one

Terri is such a good person. When she found a diamond necklace, she was determined to get it back to the owners. How many people would do that? When she found out the owner had been murdered and her heirs didn't want the necklace, she was in a tough spot. What should she do with it? It was decided that the necklace would be donated to a charity - one that meant something to the original owner. Somehow Terri was left to find the charity. But when she started asking around about the murdered woman ...more

D.E. Haggerty is a true cozy mystery writer. I can say this having previously reviewed a book from the Gray Haired Ladies Detective series. She is also a prolific author of sixteen books on Amazon, so she has a good thing going!
The story: Terri, a divorced school librarian, is cleaning her ex-husband’s belongings out the attic of her home when she discovers an exquisite and obviously very expensive diamond pendant necklace. She wants to return it to its owner, but the previous inhabitant of the

Why have I never lived anywhere with hot, shirtless male joggers?

Terri is a high school librarian. My impression of her is that she is more observant about what is between the covers of print matter than in the world around her. Her marriage was not perfect, but it came as a shock to her when her husband moved out. They had only lived in their new house for two years, still having many unpacked boxes.
When you are reading any sort of mystery or horror book, you know noting good will happen when t

Finders Not Keepers was a clever book with the perfect combination of mystery and romance!

Terri is cleaning out her attic, going through some of her ex-husband’s things when she finds a beautiful diamond necklace. She knows nothing about who lived there before her, so she decides to find out who the necklace belongs to. Who knew what an adventure this would turn out to be, one that involves a murder, puts her in danger, and possibly on the path to a new love.

I just loved Terri. She was funny an

Dive into a world that I can guarantee is not a cookie cutter version of the genre.
I enjoyed Terri as a main character. She was flawed and had her issues, but I think that it made her endearing.
I personally liked the fact that this novel is not predictable. You get a lot of clues throughout the novel about where the story is going, what secrets are being hidden, etc. But it really does take you a good part of the novel to put everything together. Kudos to D.E. Haggerty for managing to keep the m

I love stories like this that mix and meld together different genre's. If an author can get it right and learn to balance everything, that is even better. D.E. Haggerty has done just that. She has given us a witty, a little out there, mysterious, and romantic. Add to that plenty of action and drama and you have yourself set up for quite the ride. I just felt like this was an overall quick and fun read. It was fast moving and kept me flipping pages furiously.

I liked Terri and Melanie and the friendship between the two women. Terry is still recovering from her divorce and her friend is very supportive. As implied by title of this new series, Terri is not particularly reluctant to take matters into her own hands when she finds out that the diamond’s owner was murdered. She wants to do the “right” thing. If only it was that simple. She decides to find the killer herself. Melanie is all for it. Ryder, her hunky neighbor, is vehement in his opposition. I ...more

This is a cozy mystery at its best. It will make you want to cuddle up for a while and get lost in the story and world D.E. Haggerty has created.

Terri is such a fun main character, I feel like I connected with her right off the bat and that really helped me get invested in the story.

I loved the wit and humor that Haggerty laced throughout. Terri's voice was so fun! Add to that some romance and it's a perfect combination.

Don't miss this Mystery!

Keeper !

What a fun book! It was an adventure in how not to listen to your best friend yet still end up with the "hot neighbor guy"! There is also the serious theme of how a woman begins to recover after her divorce from an emotionally abusive husband. I loved the characters & the surprises along the way that come with a seriously good cozy. Looking forward to continuing this series!

Absolutely loved this whodunnit! Terri a newly separated high school librarian finds an incredibly exquisite necklace when cleaning out her attic. In the process of trying to return it to the rightful owner she gets dragged somewhat unwilling into an investigation of the owner’s murder. All the while her bff Mel drags her into crazy situations. She has the beginning of a new romance with hot neighbor guy Ryder. All in all a well written mystery to keep you guessing and lots of laughs and a bit o ...more

This one is definitely a keeper! Haggerty delivers another fantastic cozy that I couldn’t put down. Fun characters, humor, and an exciting mystery, I was hooked.
While the premise seemed a bit odd, I was quite intrigued by the mystery it created. As the story progressed, so did the stakes. What started off as a simple task became so much more involved for Terri as she got deeper and deeper into things. We get taken on the fast paced adventure along with her and I loved it.

This is the first D E Haggerty book that I have read and I did rather enjoy it. A cozy mystery, with strong characters and a smooth storyline, although Haggerty did throw in a few surprises and enough to make the whodunnit worth waiting til the end for. I did like the strong alpha hot neighbour, although in real life, I would probably not have stood for any of his macho-ness but it is sweet that he cares enough to want to protect and look after her. Also gotta hand it to Terri who found the neck ...more

I liked the diversity and originality of this novel.
Believeable and Relatable characters really help to captivate the reader and get them invested in the happenings of this story.

I grew up reading everything I could get my grubby hands on from my mom's Harlequin romances to Nancy Drew to Little Women. When I wasn't flipping pages in a library book, I was penning horrendous poems, writing songs no one should ever sing, or drafting stories which have thankfully been destroyed. College and a stint in the U.S. Army came along, robbing me of free time to write and read, althoug ...more
