Hamster Holmes and his firefly sidekick, Dr. Watt, solve a colorful new mystery in this Level 2 Ready-to-Read story perfect for beginning readers!
Hamster Holmes and his firefly sidekick, Dr. Watt, have a new case…and for the first time, Hamster Holmes is stumped. It all began when an owl named Rufus Feathers started to design a new tile patio for his house, and the yellow tiles went missing. The hardest part of this case? There is only one clue! Will this be the case that finally stumps Hamster Holmes and Dr. Watt?
Hamster Holmes and his friend, Dr Watt, the firefly, are trying to figure out what happened to the tiles outside of Rufus' home.
This has simple clues to follow, but they are spaced out just enough that readers can't solve the mystery without following where the clues lead. I like that Dr. Watt speaks only in Morse code so that readers have their own little mystery to solve every few pages. The solution of the case is a non-nefarious crime and things are made right quickly. A cute intro to mysteries and codes for readers just venturing into longer books.
I'm so happy to have found this series. I am always on the lookout for detective stories for beginning readers. This one is perfect. It has a detective, suspects, and clues that the reader can use to solve the mystery. Bonus: morse code puzzles and other logic games included!
