When a friend’s pet bunny escapes into the World of Make-Believe, Daisy and Posey have to track him down in this ninth Daisy Dreamer chapter book!
Have you ever heard the phrase “quick like a bunny?” People say it all the time about me. It means that I am fast. But I just met something that’s even faster than me. And guess what? It’s a cute and fluffy bunny! I am bunny-sitting for my friend, Lily. Bunny-sitting means I am caring for her bunny—not sitting on it. Obviously. Watching a bunny is easy, unless you have an imaginary friend named Posey who draws doors to the World of Make-Believe and leaves them open. Because Lily’s pet is quick like a bunny, and it loves to run through open doors.
With easy-to-read language and illustrations on almost every page, the Daisy Dreamer chapter books are perfect for emerging readers.
Daisy is so excited! Her best friend Lily is going on vacation and Daisy is taking care of Lily's pet bunny, Cutie Pie while Lily is gone. Daisy's sure she can handle the responsibility, but no one expects Posey to be allergic to their new little friend. When a series of glitter-sneezes causes Cutie Pie to escape into the World of Make-Believe, Daisy and Posey must hunt the bunny down and quickly. Along the way they'll meet a series of new creatures and learn just a little bit about judging on rumors and appearances alone.
Anna certainly has a talent for making everything ridiculously cute, and a fluffy white bunny is right up her alley. Obviously! I've said before that her stories within the world of make-believe tend to really shine and this one definitely fits in that category. She infuses lessons of loyalty to a friend into the tale, but the greater message here is about judging "people" by their appearance or by the things one has heard about them from others. Daisy meets three different types of creatures on her adventure this time. None of them are what they appeared to be and none of them are the monsters she was expecting. A little bit of mystery and a lot of fun make this sweet tale a great addition to the series. Anna is hitting her stride.
3.5 stars. This series is about a girl named Daisy and her imaginary friend named Posey. I love these books when they're set in Daisy's world, but when they get to the world of make believe I don't love it. In this one, Daisy is pet sitting and the bunny goes into the WOM and gets lost for awhile. We see some dragons and mythical creatures, but alls well that ends well. I think this series would be great for emerging fantasy readers!
