Bill & Ted #3

Bill & Ted Save the Universe

Rate this book
The wacky time traveling rockers from the cult ‘80s movie are back in an all-new adventure, moving through the galaxy to rescue their families.

They’ve conquered time. They’ve escaped Hell. But this time, Bill and Ted will have to put their most excellent heads together to survive an all-new adventure spanning the entire universe. Whoa! It all starts when the Wyld Stallyns are kidnapped by a bodacious alien and get handed over to their…long lost family? WHOA!

The adventures continue as writer Brian Joines and artist Bachan, the non-non-non-heinous duo behind Bill & Ted Go to Hell, serve up a stellar saga of totally bogus and most triumphant in Bill & Ted Save the Universe.

A serviceable tale set in the established universe, and one that thankfully doesn't grope for or force a historic time travel angle that wasn't necessary.

With the upcoming Bill and Ted Face the Music movie coming out next week, in addition to watching the movies again, I thought I would look into the couple graphic novels that were released, continuing the story of the first two movies. In comparing the comics to the movies... they obviously chose to go in different directions, but "being excellent to each other" extends in all ways, so I can appreciate both.
Other than continuing the standard jokes: "Station!"; "Hi Missy, I mean Mom."; "I am Bill S Preston..." and many others, this story seeks to fulfill a largely missing element from the originals: Bill and Ted's real moms. Turns out that these ladies have been in outer space, sharing Wyld Stallions music and dogma, preparing a way for a Galactic Tour. But the boys are more grown now, being husbands and fathers (though largely still the guys we know and love) and their initial space adventure and connection with their moms causes more issues than solutions.
Overall, obviously, the story turns out to be very happy and stays in character.
A fun and nice read.

The previous book was decidedly silly (still enjoyable, but silly), this one, though still silly, actually had a much better story to it. I enjoyed how there was more focus on how their life has affected their families and that there were consequences for all that has happened. The fun artwork kept true to the theme which completed this great addition to the Bill & Ted universe.

Campy and crazy like bill and Ted should be. Entertaining and fairly true to their characters while Also expanding the world they exist in. A bit too crazy to be a movie but has some elements that would have been nice in the latest movie

This was so delightful, and I was so happy to share it with my son. He's only 9, and this was great for him to enjoy as well.

The only think I liked about this was the use o Ted's little brother and the boys' moms.

Another most excellent entry in the Bill and Ted saga. Very enjoyable and in the vein of Bill and Ted. It has its flaws but so do the two Great Ones. Party on Dudes!

It's an interesting explanation on what happened to their moms and a what if with Deacon post movies. Nothing really note worthy beyond that.
