One day, Nancy is bored. Her dad suggests she help him clean out the garage. They find a tent, and Nancy has visions of staging a magnificent camping trip, complete with a campfire and s'mores. But rain spoils the plan, and the family is forced indoors.

The message about making the best of things comes through loud and clear. I was also amused by the pictures in this one. The facial expressions are great, and Nancy's fantasy about the perfect camping trip even features some cameos from some familiar Disney characters.

Overall, this is a cute little book perfect for fans of Nancy (and especially the TV-show version of Nancy).

This was such a fun and adorable book. We love Fancy Nancy here, so it's not a surprise that we liked it. We were just talking about taking a family camping trip and after reading this, I think my little one is a little bit more excited. I loved how Nancy and her family make the most of the situation and turned a rainy fiasco into fun and memorable moments anyway. Good moral.

I liked Nancy's constant use of French words which added humor to the story. The details of the house and the outdoors made the setting vivid and certainly will help the young stay interested.

Nancy's family takes a backyard camping trip. Nancy doesn't think it's very fancy, what will she do?

When Dad tells Nancy stories about when he and Mom used to go camping, Nancy knows it's something she has to try. However, she doesn't want to wait. Even though it's too late to go into the woods, Dad pitches a tent in the backyard.

At first, Nancy is upset because there aren't any mountaintops or beautiful views. According to Dad, when camping, you have to make the best of what you have, so Nancy helps him set up the tent. It's harder than she imagined! When it's finally done, rain starts to come down. The tent starts leaking and they have no choice but to go inside. Nancy isn't ready to give up though. She knows her dad was excited about camping too and she doesn't want to let him down.

I love how this book encourages children to get outside while also bonding with their family. Nancy finds the good in a bad situation and doesn't let the rain stop her from camping. It might not be like Dad's stories, but it's even better because they're doing it together as a family. There's also some fancy stickers in the middle of the book that children will love! I know my little girl did!


Final Verdict: I would recommend this to fans of Fancy Nancy, camping, and activities to do with your family, no matter what the weather has in store.
