It gave a quick look at the Bible and its women. It was thought provoking and gave lots of good information. It told you loads about the women we barely know much about and stuck closely to the Bible which I greatly appreciate. However I was sad to see that they left out one woman from Judges chapters 19-20, the concubine that was torn to pieces. It's a gruesome story but one I think is worth mentioning. Overall it was good and I enjoyed getting to know these women a little better.

An easy-to-read, thorough look at the women throughout the Bible. Each section on a different women is detailed, but concise, making it easy to read in short increments if so chosen. Thought provoking to realize how many women are included in the Bible.

I always enjoy books about women in the Bible. The subtitle of Peter DeHaan’s book is intriguing “The Victorious, The Victims, The Virtuous, and The Vicious” and I actually laughed with anticipation. Upon skimming the Table of Contents, I saw several entries that I’ve not seen in similarly titled books. I especially like the ending thoughts, questions to ponder, or calls to action that follow each woman’s story. For example, Dinah’s story ends with “When we encounter injustice, how do we respond? Overreacting may be as bad as not reacting. May we offer justice wisely.” Another excellent wrap-up thought follows the story of one of my favorite Bible woman, Abigail, “Is there some hold action God wants us to take?” I’ve always felt a little sorry for Queen Vashti. Peter DeHaan’s compassionate treatment of her plight acknowledged that doing what is right may still have negative consequences. He continues, “May we hold to our principles and persevere despite the outcome.” Each of these women’s stories include the Scripture reference and are short enough that readers could use them as devotions and journaling prompts.

Good resourceful study

This book studies the women in the bible and aside from one typo it's a really good book on the subject. It's a book that is a good reminder that God made women too and uses them just as much as men perhaps even more so at times from a certain point of view. It's a really good book.

I love reading about the women of the Bible. I was especially interested in this book by Peter DeHann. There are many new women in the Bible that I haven't learned about. What a nice surprise! I think readers will get a lot of great information from this book.

Informative

Thorough listing of women in the Bible. Summaries of these women life's are enlightening. The biblical references allow further pursuit of information, if desired.

Took me six months to finish this book. Wow! But it was well worth it. Peter DeHaan provides excellent food for thought in clear and laconic prose. I definitely recommend this book.

It was a good read

The book was concise and to the point. I was afforded the opportunity to go deeper, studying scriptures to learn more about the women of the Bible.
