(Disclaimer: I received this book from Edelweiss. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

We Unleash the Merciless Storm is a book about development. It's about the conscious choice everyday to be the person we want to be. We always have the choice to revert back to our old ways, but We Unleash the Merciless Storm is about the bravery to be someone new, to open our heart. It was so great to back in the world of La Voz, revolution, and burning hearts. We Unleash the

After a three-month-long reading slump, I have finished my first 2020 read. And oh my, it was an exceptional one. Told from Carmens POV's, we pick up immediately after that cliffhanger from book one and get to experience things from Carmen's perspective, which I really loved. She is such an amazingly complex

This book was sent to me via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

This was an excellent sequel! The story picked up after the cliffhanger of the first book and was full of action. Most of the lead characters are women who were portrayed as physically, mentally, and emotionally strong. The male characters were definitely secondary characters and were portrayed as weak, arrogant, and greedy. This was a nice change from how characters have been developed in the past. I hope to see a

Before I begin, let me say: friends, if you haven't yet read We Set the Dark on Fire, a) why the hell not and b) please avert your eyes. Here there be (very mild yet also deeply important) spoilers.

Second, I'd like to say a thank you to Edelweiss and Harper Collins for graciously providing this ARC. This has not affected my review at all, of course. Luckily for all of us, my review is extremely positive.
But as she called out for a weapon, steeling herself, she knew: this was no longer her home.

Thank you to Edelweiss and Harper Collins for graciously providing this ARC, which did not impact my review. This is my honest and unbiased review.

This picks up right where We Set the Dark on Fire left us and we get to see things from Carmen's point of view. FIrst, if you haven't read We Set the Dark on Fire - what are you waiting for?! This book was even better than WStDoF. Suspense, tension, romance, chaos, rebellion, strong women, revolution and much more - I loved this book!

I think my love for the series may have fizzled and reinforces that often the second book tends to be in a very different direction than the first, especially when it comes to changing the narrator (or adding more) and then answering more questions about the world.

In this case, the book focuses on Carmen and La Voz.

The story itself has all the necessities of a great story, but I just wasn't in to it like I was for the first one, sadly.
