I just can't get enough of these Kings. But what I really want to know is... WHEN IS FORD AND LIV'S novel coming?

I read this novella to satisfy my curiosity about the reason behind Declan's apology to MaKenna in book one, but mostly to know what went wrong between Emmett and Avery, and it left me hungry for more, my heart broke for them both, I can't wait to read their story. (view spoiler)

This is really a promising series, the author worked hard on building her protagonists with

Kings of Rittenhouse is a great introduction to a new sports world. We're given a small glimpse in the life of 5 high school hockey players. Declan, Heath, Emmett, Colm and Ford are all seniors and preparing for life after high school. Going to college and working hard to make their goal come true, to play in the NHL.

Of course it wouldn't be high school without drama. And this prequel is filled with that and more. Some unnecessary, but what are you going to do?

I simply adored this introduction to the kings. Funny thing is I didn't know it was available till I finished the full story. I still enjoyed it and it excited me to see what Will happen to Emmett.

A fun little preview!
It made me curious about Avery and Emmet (is that the right writing? I'm bad with names..)
It made me think and guess a lot.

I'm excitef for Mak and Declan!

Maya Hughes created a perfect new and addicting sports world for me and I know for a fact this series will be one of those that will take over my life, I just know it. All of the Kings already stole a piece of my heart and we barely got a taste of them. So I know that with every book Maya pops out in this series, I'm gonna fall a little (probably a lot) more for each and every one of these guys.

At this point I'm already dying and praying for more. And of course the one I'm most

This is a free prequel to Declan and Mak's story and I'm glad I decided to jump in and read it before diving into book 1 of this series.  KINGS OF RITTENHOUSE is set in high school and gives us a glimpse of the life our main protagonists are going through to prepare you for book 1 (which jumps ahead quite a few years to college).

I'm not usually the biggest fan of high school angst and all the drama associated with it but Declan and Mak are going through their own difficult struggles at home and

A very short prequel - barely enough to whet your appetite. It's the set-up for Hughes's new Kings of Rittenhouse Series. Filled to the brim with plenty of angst, leaving another batch of questions to be answered on all the "Kings" and their futures as they graduate high school and leave for their respective colleges and hockey teams -- all hoping to finally end up on a NHL team. Betting there will be plenty more angst filling their college days and the girls that will cross their paths.

This prequel introduces us to the Kings of Rittenhouse and their friends. They are the reigning champs of hockey. Each one of them has a secret that will eventually change the course of their lives. Declan and Makenna are the focus. they both have secrets that I can't wait to explore. They hate each other and argue all the time . Misconceptions and assumptions run rampant. this intro will get readers interested to follow the story of these guys and see what fun and mischief follow.

There really wasn't much to this. I started this book while I was about 25% done with the Shameless King book so I knew most of these characters and the idea of friends splitting up for college always makes me so sad and it's such a bittersweet thing. Read this book before the first one since it was written to be read that way but you can skip it if you want to.
So much dramaaaaa

The prequels really got me interested into what is going to become of these kids. The two main characters have so much going on in their personal lives that everyone is clueless about; and that includes what the main characters in the story do to each other. They are both fighting demons on the inside but each other thinks the other one is snotty and thinks the other has it made. If only they knew the truth about what is going on behind the scenes they might realize they have far more in common ...more

Declan can't wait to go to college and get that out of the way so he can go pro in hockey. He has to outdo his sperm donor, but he also wants to make his mom to be proud of him to graduate from school. And Declan has been the King of hockey for 4 years, so he's a shoe in.

So when the big bash party is coming up, he's very much excited to relax and have a good time with his second family on the hockey team.

But Makenna keeps getting in his way. First it was the yearbook information she needs from

I've been given a copy of the book from the author. I like college romances mainly because the characters' age is near my own, so I in some ways I can relate more to them.

This prequel story is the perfect way to introduce us to the characters and their background stories. We meet all the hockey players and find out a little for their lives and the connection they have with the main characters. The book is referring to their last days as seniors in high school, unlike the next book that is mainly

This is a great prequel to the Shameless King book, and just what was needed to lay down the background and the foundation to what's going to be a fabulous series to read!

In this we get a glimpse of the 5 hockey players' lives - Declan, Heath, Emmett, Colm and Ford - as they are finishing high school and setting out on the road to college.

Declan is the leading scorer on the hockey team, player extraordinaire in more ways than one. Makenna is all work and no play, very uptight and known as the Ic

Tasty start to a series about the lives and loves of five hockey hopefuls😛

Well-written, this prequel introduced five star high school hockey players at the end of their senior year before college and Iife sent them off on different paths. By focusing on just a few days and events in the final days of their senior year, it gave an initial taste of the trajectory each would take and introduced the young women who would be caught up in their lives. The five guys come from differing backgr

Need to read this!

The boys who are the Kings: Colm, Declan, Emmett Ford, and Heath. They are treated like royalty after winning their fourth championship for the school. Each dream of making it big. Each has their own story which draws you in right away. This is prequel to the first book and I’m already dying to read first book! Declan and McKenna have this love/ hate relationship that’s so hot! I can’t wait to see that develop. Emmett is very much in love with Avery and ready to get married. He

A new college hockey romance? Yes, please. As far as prequels go, this one was epic. It snagged my attention and never let go. It made me pre-order the first full length book in the series, Shameless King. I loved the drama and the introduction to all of the characters. I know I’m in for a fun ride with Mak and Declan. Funny thing, though, I’m almost more interested in finding out what Emmett and Avery’s story is! I have a feeling I’m going to be waiting a few boo

This is a Prequel for a new series on ice hockey players, all graduates of Rittenhouse Prep School. The book covers Prom, last pep rally, and a fantasic house party. We are introduced to the main Kings, Declan, Emmett, Colm, Ford and Heath, all bound for college and the NHL. Declan and Mackenna have a love/hate relationship. Emmett and Avery have been in love since sophomore year. And Heath is flirting with the student teacher that he says is only two years older than he. What makes this prequel ...more

This is a fast read and an introduction to the characters. We get to see them in their last days at high school before taking off for college. They all had plans but things do not quite end up accordingly. We get to see some of their personalities and see them interact with each other before things start to go bad. This is definitely a prequel as we don't get too much information, more like a tease, and then some bombs dropped before it ends lol. It was definitely intriguing though and I am look ...more

When i recieved this book the first thing i thought was * omg another royal themed book* but i was pleasantly surprised!!
The Kings of Rittenhouse is a start to a new series or rather a prequel and introduces you to the Kings Declan, Heath, Emmett, Colm and Ford who are hockey players in their high school Rittenhouse. Each one of them dreams of making it big in the NHL. I can not wait to start A shameless King hoping that i will have some of my questions answered. This is an amazing prequel to a

Wow! So many secrets to explore…
This is the prequel to SHAMELESS KING and I hope the events in this book will be explored further in future books about all the “Kings” mentioned here, Declan, Emmett, Colm, Heath and Ford. Ms. Hughes has set up such interesting beginnings to their future liaisons. That is, if that is indeed what her plan is. I hope so b/c I wonder about poor Emmett and Avery. Will Heath be successful with the older woman? So many opportunities and I can’t wait. (I know for sure S

Ms. Hughes sets the stage very well for her upcoming novel(s). The setting starts when all the characters are in high school. This is a well written and well depicted tale, so much so, that it attains its goal of whetting the reader's appetite for more. With such depth to all characters, it is easy to see the possibility that more novels could unfold from this prequel. I am new to the writings of Ms. Hughes and I am really impressed thus far. With baited breath this reader awaits the first novel ...more

This prequel is outstanding. It explains so much about the characters and what they’ve been dealing with leading up tot the series. Mak, Avery, Kaitlyn & all they boys have issues they’re trying to deal with getting ready to graduate and head off to college. With Declan and Mak being the main characters of this story, we only see an outside view of the confusion and hurt feelings going on around them, but it’s a view that explains so much already. I cannot wait to get started with the series ...more

Kings of Rittenhouse is just a short prequel or intro to the wonderful characters in this series. By way of senior prom and an end of year party, we get some insight into Mak and Declan's feelings toward each other as well as a few tidbits about some of the other characters. We get a little bit of Mak and little of Declan as the chapters alternate between the two, and from their points of view, we also learn a little about their friends and classmates. One thing's for sure, from what we're told ...more
