Kierra was a poor poet looking for a job while she worked toward her dream of becoming a published poet. One day she accidentally becomes the personal assistant to married spies. For the last three years she's lusted after them, not very secretively, until finally she decides it's time to move on with her life and gives her notice.

During her last week of work, her bosses whisk her away to Serbia for a top secret mission that only she can help them complete. And in the middle of dispatching a European dictator, Kierra and her bosses give in to their deepest desires.

Pink Slip is the first in an erotic/suspense/spy/comedy series that wonders what James Bond's receptionist's life might have been like. If James Bond had a wife and they both wanted to shag the receptionist. But the dirty American version of that. And all of the possible entanglements in between.

soooo Katrina Jackson has quickly become one of my faves and Pink slip was so fun to read! Kierra's frustrations over her attraction to her bosses aaaand on the flip side her bosses' attraction to her fell in really well with the mission they had to embark on.

Sexual tension annd tension over the mission was a pretty damn good combination here and the 3 MCs were a delight. I loved how different Lane, Kierra and Monica are but they just complement each other really well.

And i also loved the secondary characters whose own stories were sort of unfolding a bit as the mains' happened but they never over shadowed them. so there was a good balance there of making us intrigued enough to care about Asif, Chante, Maya and Kenny but at no time did i forget about our main 3. So of course I;m ready for pairings for book 2 and 3 whiic i'm not gonna reveal, so you can read and see for yourself if you don't already know :)

But i'd highly rec this entertaining spy romance. Annnnd there's a pegging scene at the end there soooo enjoy!

Oh dear. Ohhhhhh dear. I am assured by someone I trust that Katrina Jackson has much better books, so this won’t be the one and only by her that I read—although it was a close run thing.

This is a polyamorous setup with shades of Mr. and Mrs. Smith… which sounds great on paper, but it ended up coming across as a corn movie that attempted a plot.

Everyone was horny 24/7, which ironically made the book LESS hot. No one even had to work for it, which was boring.

There were more plot holes than plot, and if Lane (the sleazy Texan MMC) called Kierra (one of the FMCs) “sweet girl” one more time, I was not going to be held responsible for my actions.

Pink Slip is a super steamy spy romance. Kierra is a PA who has lusted after her bosses, a married couple who work together as spies, for three years, and the feeling is mutual. On what is meant to be her last mission with them, they need her to come into the field with them--because they need to go to a menage-centric sex club, of course. That is the kind of porny premise I can always get behind in a romance! From there the story progresses with lots of danger and steamy sex.

This didn't blow me away, but I did like it, and I have to say how gorgeous I think the cover is! It's definitely a fun story that I would recommend to people who like espionage romance or menage, or anyone looking for a steamy and unconventional story.

The author said this was initially meant to be an erotic novella but she got the opportunity to turn it into a full-length novel. It shows.

These three are such fucking losers 😭 What was supposed to be spicy just turned out to be cringy asf because there wasn't a single interaction between them where they weren't panting with lust - literally every other paragraph. One can simply breathe and one, if not both of the others are READY 🥴 Romance? What's that? Conversations like adults in their 20s/30s? Never heard of that. The entire book is just plotholes and thirst.

And so the search for good ffm polyam romances continues...

Normally spy books make me too nervous but I felt like I was in good hands and that Jackson wouldn't let anything too awful happen to our trio. Love how the bisexuality and polyamory exist on the page without being explained and justified. I mean - look at Lane and Monica, they're gorgeous! How could you not be attracted to both of them?

Most realistic book ever? No. But is it meant to be? Totally not. A bunch of fun and one of my favorite books of #QueerLitRead this year - looking forward to continuing the series and reading Jackson's backlist.

I enjoyed the heck out of this story about PA Kierra and the married spies who love her. The plot is wild wild wild - ‘quick we need to have a threesome for the sake of national security’ - but it’s delightfully commitment to its premise. I loved the dynamic between Lane, Monica and Kierra, and once the secondary spy characters were introduced in the second half I was entranced by them too. I’m looking forward to reading more of the series very soon.

Read this if: you liked Alias but wish it had more threesomes.

Ohhhhhh my goooood!! The tension was thick in this book!! Hot damn!! The sex scenes could’ve been fleshed out (pun intended) a little bit more but this was still amazing!

Disappointed to say that I liked the premise of it more than the actual book.
Mostly I was bothered by how childish Kierra came off as and in general I would have liked for the characters to be a little more developed. I was also kinda creeped out by the epilogue. That being said the erotica was very well written and some of the spy stuff was interesting enough if only a little ridiculous. I also liked the dynamic between Lane and Monica and would have enjoyed more of their backstory.

Could any of this actually happen? Not likely. Did I enjoy it anyway? Absolutely! Such a fun, sexy read about polyamorous spies and the admin they love.

I was looking for a book to deliver a happy ending for its MC in more than one way *wink* and boy did this book deliver!! But not just steam, it delivered interesting main characters as well as the supporting cast (I am immediately going to start the next book and I’m really hoping to get a Chanté HEA in one of the future books)

- There were a few obvious typos and grammatical errors, but I can overlook that because it's an indie author
- The sex scenes weren't as amazing as other reviews suggest since most of them were pretty fade to black (they'd initiate something and then the chapter would end etc.), but they weren't horribly written like other erotica I've read.
- I LOVED the characters so much!!!!!
- I wish the relationship between the f/f/m was more established and they had an open communication about how they were going to be with each other. They kind of just jump into having sex and then at the end it's left pretty open. However, it's still obvious they all love each other
- Lane's sexuality could've been more obvious because it just says they have "men or women" in their beds and it's not elaborated whether he was attracted to the men or not

rep: poly trio, black mc, Puerto Rican mc, bi or pan mc's

I don't remember why I picked this up, I think because it was pitched as female James Bond, her husband and their secretary enter a relationship together while spying at the same time. And yes, it was that but it was far more erotica than romance.

This book is about Monica and Lane Peters, two spies who married before they entered the CIA and are still together years later. They both fancy their secretary, Kierra, and she returns the favour, but there is the slight problem of their dangerous job getting in the way.

I did enjoy this. The plot was, of a sort, nothing particularly new but it was done in a way I liked. The plot involved some danger, some undercover work and some hilarious lines that I really enjoyed. The three characters were all different enough from each other that I enjoyed their POVs and I did like how Monica was the leader in the trio, but Lane wasn't exactly crap at his job. Kierra is a poet, which is something I really enjoyed seeing because it's not a dream we normally see when someone is working as a secretary. I also really liked her relationship with Maya, her roommate who works as a cam girl, and I am interested to see how the next book comes along with Maya as the focus.

The second half of the book, when we're introduced to Kenny and Asif was more enjoyable than the first half for me, mostly because I liked Monica, Lane and Kierra having to adjust to this new situation in their relationship. The relationship between the three of them was done well because it felt like equal attention was giving to all sides of the triangle. The focus was more on how Kierra acted with Monica and Lane because she was the new person but it did give some page time dedicated to showing how Lane and Monica worked together and how well they worked together, which was something I really enjoyed.

My main problem with this I think was how much smut was in this. This is partly my fault because there is a reason why I don't read erotica and that is because I tend to get very bored of sex scenes in books when it feels like they're just there, rather than moving the plot or the characters along. But in this book, it was as if Kierra and Monica+Lane only had to look at each other to get turned on and this happened in every single scene. Your life was in danger - perfect time to think about how turned on you are. Someone just got bloodily murdered in front of you - that person was really attractive doing that. Finding out you have been creepily watched - brushed aside to focus on how much you want to have sex with them. It focused far more on the erotica side rather than the romance side and it just left me without that build up of the romance that I really wanted to see.

I will probably read other books by this author because I enjoyed her writing style and her characters, but I can only hope more focus goes on building up the relationship, rather than just how attractive they all find each other.

3.5 stars!

Proceed With Caution:

This book contains violence, blood, death, and mentions of rape.

The Basics:

Pink Slip is the first in the series and introduces us to international spies, Monica and Lane. They're a married couple working for the CIA and for the past three years, Kierra has been their faithful and sexy personal assistant. It's her final week working for the couple and their last mission just happens to take them to Serbia where they must go undercover as a menage to flush out their target.

My Thoughts:

Pink Slip was so much fun! I definitely have a thing for spies, assassins, and similar careers in fiction. Combined with a MFF Romance? Recipe for perfection! Kierra has been attracted to her bosses since her first interview, and they've been similarly attracted to her. However, they've always acted professionally as she does work for them. That doesn't mean there weren't heated glances every now and then. But this mission pushes them past that professional boundary and no one minds! But what happens in Serbia, doesn't stay in Serbia...

The plot of Pink Slip was expectantly over-the-top and fun. Monica and Lane are posing as rich tourists on a luxury vacation with their "pet" to catch the attention of the baddie. Of course, they also have to frequent sex clubs to keep up the pretense. However, once they're back at their home base, all bets are off! That is where the good stuff happens! Kierra is not shy about admitting that she wants both of them, and they all just go for it, knowing in one week they have to walk away. Obviously that's not what happens though.

More excitement happens after this mission, as Kierra is now a target. Monica and Lane do their best to protect her by staying away, but we all know how that turns out. What follows is a sexy romp across Europe! My only complaint was that Pink Slip is too short! I needed more of Kierra, Monica, and Lane!

Not very well written technically, but if you're just in this for slow motion shoot outs and threesomes, it's fine.

Heat Factor: Everyone is very horny.

Character Chemistry: Horny, yes. Is it love? Eh.

Plot: 50% being horny, 50% spy stuff.

Overall: Are you looking for some horny spies? Then have I got the book for you!

The basic premise of this book is Mr. and Mrs. Smith have a personal assistant who is very very in lust with her bosses. Her last week on the job, they jet off to Serbia to take down a dictator (look, we are just not going to talk about the politics of regime change in this book), and the spies need Kierra’s help. See, Evil Dictator likes hanging out in menage clubs, so Lane and Monica need a third party that they trust so that their cover in all these sex clubs isn’t blown. Now they can finally give in to that lust that’s been simmering for all these years!

This mini-review is part of a list about triads that can be read in full at The Smut Report

The premise of this book is basically: what if Mr. and Mrs. Smith, after they worked out their differences, hired an executive assistant? And then everyone lusted after each other. And then the spies need their assistant’s help to take down a Serbian dictator, as one does. This book is both extremely horny and extremely action-packed.
