Very nice read. The first half of the book takes place years ago when America is moving to participate in WW2. Meeting some of the central characters who will give birth (literally) to the characters who will be featured in the second half. This saga moves from the battlefields of WW2 to the jungles of Vietnam. It is two loves stories in one book. There is a surprise for one of the characters. And audible "Awww crap" escaped me when I got to it. But in the end, everything does come full circle.

Having been part of that Viet Nam war era, I felt and related to every word written by Fran Baker.
It was my friends and spouse who were either drafted or dodged it a painful/stressful time for everyone in my generation.

She (Fran Baker) covered situations and circumstances that now are acknowledged by nearly everyone; allbeit some forty plus years too late.
