Oh hark thee, all and sundry

There is a a new man, a God if I may so say

A bod like nothing I’ve ever seen

And heart so loving has never been

Damaged and a soldier was all he was

Till a gentle touch soothes his scars

She was Jessica, the woman to his man

He was the Tracker, the Dreg, a hunk of a man

A captivating start of the series by Leslie Georgeson, about the Dregs.

Half way lost my excitement about the story

The first story in this series gets 3 stars simply because I give this author the benefit of the doubt and hopefully the writing improves as the series progresses.

I don't enjoy paranormal stories in general but this one attracted my attention as it's really lightly paranormal and science fiction.
After the initial apprehension I started the story that literally sucked me in and then half way through it started to drag and lost its excitement.

So the plot

Damaged souls redeemed!

I was initially attracted to this given it was a 2018 TopShelf Indie Book Awards nominee. The storyline seemed interesting. The aura of the paranormal clinging around the edges, beguiling.
The Dregs! A band of brother survivors, ex military experiments, clinging to the shadows (beyond the underbelly of the city), trained soldiers and killers who overcome their pasts with the help of a good woman (in the case of the Tracker (Liam) anyway.)
I acknowledge the warnings strong l

Thank you netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I wasn't crazy about the characters in this romance. Jess is a timid woman in need of the tracke'rs help in finding her sister. When she does find him he agrees to help in exchange for her servitude. She agrees and they built this awkward living situation where she cleans and cooks submissively but demonstrats random acts of rebellion when it suits her. The tracker is this broken, science project who acts tough b

I was totally lost, felt like I missed a book with the world building/background or something. Gave up by 15%

At my age (approaching 60), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

I've changed my mind about five times about how many stars to give this book. The storyline kept me gripped and I really liked the characters. That would usually result in a good four stars, but, unfortunately, this time, there were a few things that stopped me from giving it.
As I started by saying, the storyline was certainly gripping and I was keen to know how it was going to play out. Set in what I assume is a future dystopia, this book has elements of sci-fi and the paranormal. The 'Dregs'

Jessica and Liam aka Tracker or THE tracker.
Jessica has a hard life growing up and ended up filling the roll of a mother to her little sister. She just got done with law school when a horrible gang war took out her city and her little sister ended up getting snatched up. With nowhere to go. Non of her things literally only the clothes on her back she went searching for help someone had to help her. Her poor little sister was missing. In her effort to fin

The Tracker is the first book in Leslie Georgeson’s The Dregs, and also my first read by this author. The story starts out well and has an interesting plot that unfortunately failed to deliver. The book had so much potential that just didn’t seem to be met. And Jessica’s character deteriorated as the story went on and became annoying and immature. The foundation of this series is complex and commenced with interesting and intriguing world building, but it needs some major work on the character c ...more

The Dregs!

America has changed! The gangs have taken over the cities, the police have been routed after a full out battle and innocent bystanders are the collateral damage. Jessica is a newly qualified attorney who is guardian to her 15 year old sister. But now she is frantic. A gang evicted them from their home with only the clothes on their backs. Then Eliza is taken by the gangs while Jessica was away looking for food. Who could Jessica turn to? The authorities were useless so, in utter desper

I read this in one sitting, determined to finish by the end of the night, and I was not disappointed in the result! This was a unique read, not something I could easily box into one genre - it was romance, science fiction, paranormal, and mystery all wrapped into one. There were so many elements to the story, and I enjoyed each one. While I felt that the character development could have been done a bit more, I have no doubt that the other books in this series improve upon that, now that the worl ...more

The Tracker is the first book in the eight book (not all yet available) Dregs series by Leslie Georgeson. I’ve done despicable things. My soul is damaged. My body impaired. That’s what happens when you are a soldier for The Company. I was discharged a year ago. Now I am a dreg. Worthless. With a bounty on my head. The Tracker is part of a series by Leslie Grorgeson it isn't perfect but it isn't a bad book either. The story feel like it might start to become a little BDSM when he makes her his slave but stay with graphic and simple "steamy romance"

Readers like the concept but many the a little less damaged souls wondering around would have been better. The back story of each characters is thought out and readers of course if you are reading this series will make sure to suspend you belief. Each

The Tracker by Leslie Georgeson is the first book in The Dregs series. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Ms. Georgeson is a new author to me and judging by this book the next 7 books should be pretty good. The book jumps right in with a bit of a Hitman: Agent 47 vibe. Kids being genetically engineered and changed to fit the needs of the ever mysterious corporations.

Good read!

I wasn’t sure if this would be my kind of military suspense but I was actually quite taken with this storyline. There was plenty of action, suspense, and depth to this novel. The steamy scenes were few and far between but well written and the timing was relevant to their situation. I really liked this group of guys, the “dregs”, and given the description I thought it may be more futuristic or post-apocalyptic. It’s not. It’s actually the reason I put off reading it for awhile, bc I’m n

Get ready to join a dangerous love affair that will keep you wanting more. Tracker and Jess are not meant to be together, especially with such a background that Tracker has, but that doesn't stop feeling from developing during a time of need. Jessica just went for him for help finding her sister, but she ended up getting more than that.

This was the first time in reading this author whom grabbed my attention with the story content. The curiosity picked high when I seen that wondering how the spin on this would go.
A trained killer and expert tracker but yet where he is placed in this at the beginning is unusual. Liam is approached by Jessica with this story taking us into its realm. It has a taste of unusual with you becoming snared by this and the flow with its twists and turns taking us along.

This is a new author and series for me. This book was a lengthy read but the story line was interesting enough and flowed well that I found myself turning the pages to see what happens next. The Dregs, are men that worked for The Company as elite soldiers that have become disposable. They are hunted down and when found will be killed. They now live in the shadows of the night to survive and will only consider showing their faces during the day when it is time to punch out. The Tracker now has a ...more

The Tracker

This story is about a man named Tracker who has been altered by a military type of enterprise called the Company. He and the other men like him who have also been altered are living underground in a maze under an old mansion as they have a price on their heads. One day a young woman finds her way to their hideout looking for Tracker to help her find her sister who has been taken by a gang. The story comprises their relationship and the hunt for her sister as well as the overlying stor

YES! EXCELLENT!! Of course ~ in general ~ this is the story of a broken man who is 'fixed' through the love of his 'brothers-in-arms', his 5 year old daughter, and the new love in his life. On the surface, all of that is true ~ but read this story, and you'll see there are so VERY many shades/level/layers to this seemingly 'simply' story arc. Ms Georgeson does a remarkable job with characters and setting ~ I feel/see/smell/feel what they are ~ I'm T*H*E*R*E!! Right there with them, encouraging T ...more

I loved this book! Leslie can write all kinds of genres, I have read other books by her. and like all her other books this is a great read. This was well written, had a great story line, some twists and turns. The characters were well thought out, the side characters added lots to the story too. This book had me pulled in from the start, Jess and Tracker had such a connection. This book pulls at your heartstring, (better have a tissue box). Leslie makes you feel like you are in the story. It was terrible what the general did to Tracker and his brothers with the experiments, but at least they escaped. Jessica went and found him to get her sister back from the gang that stole her. She had no money so she cleaned and cooked for him to pay him for his services. They finally found her sister and got her out, but by then she had fallen in love with him. Then she was kidnapped so the general would get Tracker back and experiment on him more to create more super soldiers. The guys got he ...more
Yeah this was pretty bad. I almost gave up a bunch of times. It was very repetitive and extremely long. Basically she agrees to be his slave and do anything for her sister but then fights him everytime he asks her to do anything. I mean make up your mind. The scifi element was weird and not really my thing but worked alright. The book needs a decent editor. There's potential for a decent book here but the plot needs to be reworked and cut down. The world building needs to be expanded, the romanc ...more

Surprisingly Not Bad

I expected a typical cliched novel and got an interesting storyline. Granted, the female character was shallow and boring, and she definitely did not have the personality to have been studying to become a lawyer. She was even pathetic at times. Then she put others in danger for her stubborn stupidity, endangering the lives of those who were trying to protect her and killing one of my favorite characters.

Even so, the storyline was good. I liked the dregs, who they ard, and wh
