The heist of the decade and yet, no one would have guessed… it was her.

The Milanese stars are missing from the famous Buccatino boutique. When American insurance investigator, Samuel Keane is called in to liaise with the polizia, he finds the whole heist odd. A major jewelry heist with no witnesses. Someone is flirting with danger when they rob a mob boss’ shop, but who did it is not nearly as baffling as why a priceless set of pink diamonds, thought to be part of the inventory were never mentioned. American insurance investigator, Samuel Keane smells something fishy, but putting his finger on it could be impossible.

Vita is a beautiful cafe owner, directly across from the burgled shop, but, like the rest of her neighbors, she knows nothing. Intrigued

The Milanese Stars by Pamela Q. Fernandes is a mystery novella that follows the heist of prized pink diamonds from Milan's Buccatino Boutique. When an insurance inspector named Samuel Keane is enlisted to assist the police investigation on a case that is as confounding as it is brazen, he hits the same wall as those who did before him: no witnesses, and everyone who had a front row seat to the jewelry store's pillaging appeared to have their head in the Italian cobblestone, including cafe owner ...more

When I first chose to read The Milanese Stars, the title alone was what I found intriguing, but after going
through just the first chapter, I found it so much more intriguing that I’d even imagined. Set in Milan just
after a mysterious jewel heist, it boasts a range of characters that will leave you wanting to know more
about their lives and just how they are involved in the theft. We start with Vita, a young woman who is
older than her years, the owner of a café just across the street from the

The Milanese Stars is a romantic suspense novel written by Pamela Q. Fernandes. Vita lived a life of quiet desperation. She had resigned herself to having nothing more than that -- no loves to fear losing, no magic to grasp onto only to see it slip away. All her love, energy and life went to paying for her younger sister Tecla’s hospital bills and rehab program; that and making her little coffee shop, Cafe Milano, an irresistible stop-off for locals a

Danger, betrayal, love and lust lurk right below the quaint surface of the Milanese cafe where Fernandes’ The Milanese Stars takes place. In the novel, an American insurance agent, Samuel Keane, is sent to northern Italy to investigate the case of his client’s missing diamonds. An insurance agent is not exactly the type of occupation one would call ‘exciting,’ let alone sexy, but Samuel isn’t your average insurance agent. The book is a fast-paced drama that will leave the reader hanging on Samue ...more

The Milanese Stars is a romantic suspense novel by author Pamela Q. Fernandes, which focuses on the beautiful and bustling Italian city of Milan. The objects of the book’s title are a valuable collection of pink diamonds, which go missing from the famous Buccatino boutique at the novel’s opening. Enter our hero, all-American guy Samuel Keane, who is here to investigate the insurance claim made by the boutique to compensate them for the diamond heist. Du

Samuel is investigating a burglary, but one that has even the next that the insurance investigator had never experienced or would ever experience again. There are plenty of secrets between Don Giovanni, the local mob boss, the storekeepers like Vita who are in the vicinity of his jewelry store, and even the police. However, in the time that Samuel is trying to figure out what was stolen and how, he finds himself attracted to Vita.
The story itself has moments of culture and travel insights that

Pamela Q. Fernandes’ new book, The Milanese Stars, was a delight to read. Early on, you are told a little about a guilty party in the theft, and you will soon think you have solved the mystery. There is a surprise near the end, and you will realize there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. Occasionally, you may realize or suspect that English is a second language for the author, but it does not harm the story. This is a great story of love and sacrifice, revenge and suspense. Romance with a Milan heist backdrop
If you read heist thrillers and romance novels you may enjoy this novel more than I did. I was expecting something more like the Ocean’s movies, or a classic Westlake novel. This book is well written, but instead of being a who did it, or even a how did it- ultimately you finish reading it to find the ‘why did they.’

I somehow didn’t realize this was more of a romance book than a heist book. When I came back over to Amazon, I do see the author categorized it as

I recently read The Milanese Stars by Pamela Fernandes. There was a jewelry heist from the Buccatino boutique in Milan, Italy. An insurance investigator, Samuel Keane from the United States, was sent to work with the police to solve the crime or recover the loot. He did his own investigating and discovered that the Milanese Stars were missing but were not reported as stolen. He became friendly with Vita, the owner of a local cafe, to help solve the mysteries. The relationship between Samuel and ...more

The Milanese Stars was a quick easy read with a good storyline. I really liked the plot and where the story was going, however, it was quite flat and lacked depth. It was a very surface story, I would have liked a little more detail as to what happened and why. Right in the beginning, the readers know who committed the heist, which took the whodunnit out, but you don't know why until the very end of the book. Most of the focus was on the flirtation of the bistro owner and the insurance investiga ...more

A bit mystery, a bit romance and some exotic jewels. A quick cozy read with interesting characters and an even more interesting plot. I felt that the attraction/was a bit quick, but once I got past that, I rapidly got into the storyline. I definitely to lovers of cozy mystery romances.

I enjoyed this significantly more than I expected to, and am delighted to share it with other potential readers. Billed as a mystery, this is honestly more about a romance and an entire group of people banding together to overcome a corrupt mafia don in their community by hitting him where it hurts - a pride piece on which he spent eight figures. The relationship between the insurance investigator and the local Itali

The Milanese Stars are stolen from Milan’s ruthless mob boss and Samuel is the insurance investigator sent to figure out how it happened. He didn’t expect to meet the lovely Vita and fall in love.
I enjoyed this book, but I feel it definitely could have had more. The story was interesting, but I felt like there were lots of holes. A better explanation of the back story would have improved the book by a lo

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The Milanese Stars is not really a "Whodunit" as much as a why and how it was done book. Ms. Fernandes is a wonderfully descriptive writer so you feel you are in Milan alone with Samuel and Vita as he tries to solve a jewel heist and stay ahead of The Don. The characters are fun, funny and very relatable. The reader will find themselves rooting for the underdog in a big way. The Milanese Stars was a quick read for me and a tho ...more

The Milanese Stars was a book that introduced me to a new author. When I started reading this, I learned that it was set in Milan and the descriptions of this town were fascinating. I fell in love with the characters. This was a page-turner that kept me guessing until the end. Even when the story was over, I wished there was more. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be keeping my eye out for more from this author in the future!
