A beautiful, sad story about true love.

Beyond the Pale is one of the most beautiful and heartfelt stories I've ever had the privilege of reading - to start with.....then IT happened. I flick back over chapters every now and then and fall even more in love with this story, even though the twist is like WTF didn't see that coming.

Amelia's childhood is quite traumatic, no child should ever have to endure that suffering.

My debut psychological thriller, featuring Forensic Pathologist Amelia Sharpe (#1)

Dr Amelia Sharpe, a forensic pathologist for the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. has recently moved in with close friend Claire in a prestigious cul-de-sac. When a dangerous and frivolous distraction; Guy Davidson moves in next door, she is drawn into exploring her sexuality. Guy willingly toys with her emotions and pushes the boundaries of pain and p

Brilliant story and cleverly written especially from a debut. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more of what Wood has to offer.
This is the first book I have read by EJ Wood and for the criminal aspect of the book, it is safe to say that Wood has done me proud. It has everything needed to make a good erotic crime thriller, so many twists and turns, characters with in depth personas that kept me on the edge of my seat. It constantly added new questions and for me the mystery was great. It ca

Strong for a debut. I found it was quite well-written, and from a female first-person perspective. The only trouble with that is that you know the protagonist is going to live. However, on the other side of the coin you're tapping directly into the person's first-hand emotional experience and trust me, it gets emotional! There was a lot of description and technical detail, almost like watching a film which I could get used to and I liked how the author showed these details in conversation. I als ...more

Downloaded the book about two weeks ago looking for something to read while EJ Wood is writing her next book. I enjoyed it very much. It's very descriptive, though sometimes a little long winded explaining medical procedures and surroundings etc. but if you're not from a medical background then at least Wood explains what she's on about so you have some understanding, so I can understand why in some aspects it is over descriptive. I found some parts very thrilling and gory and yet other parts ro ...more

This was my first exposure to EJ Wood, and I must say, I'm impressed! The book had plenty of twists and turns while keeping a quick pace. The only turn off for me was it was written from a female perspective so i kept questioning my sexuality with the desirable Mr Davidson haha..
I loved the end of the book, I thought that was very well written. Can't really explain why as I don't want to give anything away, so you will have to find out for yourself.
Overall I did enjoy the book and I read it ver

Very gripping! A brilliant tale and well written for a debut by EJ Wood. I loved the unexpected ending. What a broody Mr Davidson.
Obviously, Wood is not writing chic-lit fantasies. She is a female writer with a female centered protagonist, but she is professional. Personally I feel Wood could possibly become one of the best young women thriller writers to come. I love how you can laugh one moment and be crying the next! Fantastic. And her plot: it's a riveting, page-turning with one twist and tu

"Did you know it can take 5 hours to disassemble a body?"

From the very first page I was hooked. Wood weaved in a secondary plot flawlessly so that the reader is suddenly aware that there is another even more mysterious story line than the first. I really enjoyed the ending, what a surprise! It totally took me off guard. It took me a while to get deep into it, the start takes some concentration but overall a great unusual read.
Well written, fast paced with a satisfying amount of detail. I would definitely recommend. Very interesting, I will be reading the sequel.

5 * Love love love
I love this story. Guy Davidson may I? I think this whole story is out of this world.
Spoiler alert:
It’s about a medical graduate Amelia Sharpe who moves to Washington, D.C to further her career at the Smithsonian. Whilst living in a prestigious cul-de-sac she meets prominent businessman Guy Davidson who moves in next door. Amelia is naive and succumbs to Guy’s temptations and finds herself overwhelmed by this possessive and somewhat controlling handsome man. Her feelings bring

Gets a definite thumbs up I decided to give this book a read and incorporated a musical dimension, when a piece of music was mentioned I quickly youtubed it whilst I read that passage and it added a whole new dimension and tone to the story. I heard about this book through a friend and it captivated me from page one. It was a twist on the usual romantic interlude with a wealthy attractive guy. There is a lot of emotion in this book so beware!

5* A good dirty book
I purchased this book out of curiosity. Whilst browsing for something to read and something to pick up for the wife. At the local library a member of staff handed me Beyond the Pale. “Not for me” I explained.
Another member of staff walked over and said “that book must be good, my daughter is reading that.”
I thought it would be something the wife would enjoy so I bought it.
As I went to checkout, the cashier gave me a cheeky wink as she passed it through. “OK what’s it about?”

Beyond the Pale:

First Beyond the Pale reread was a success! I Loved it just as much the second time around. E.J Wood certainly knows how to create and sustain an edge-of-your seat, tension-filled romance.

When Guy and Amelia meet there is an intense connection. Guy is a rich successful and mysterious man. It turns out that Mr Davidson has a dark side and this intrigues the younger Ms Sharpe. The book is told from Amelia Sharpe’s point of view and I found her emotions very real. I can relate to h
Beyond the Pale is packed with passion.

This sad love story is full of charm, soul mates, combined with eroticism. It will captivate you, obsess you and possess you.
I was a bit hesitant giving this book a read. But I'm so glad I did. Mr Davidson is the perfect man that keeps you on your feet, full of mystery and allure. Amelia is naive and innocent but finds strength. I hated Mr Cross, but who wouldn't? I loved the suspense, the edge of the seat page turning story. Guy's involvement at the zoo

Worth a read!

I started reading this with “oh it’s another chick lit” but I kept reading. Interested in knowing why this was considered a thriller, I soon found out. Beyond the Pale will send you on a whirlwind adventure of passion, lust and betrayal! Amelia surprised me at the end. Some of the medical terms lose me, but in the whole it is simply fantastic.

I really enjoyed this book. Two worlds melt together when Amelia Sharpe meets businessman Mr Davidson and shortly after embark on a passionate love affair.

Between the lines there's a past that resurfaces. A past that Amelia wanted to leave behind.

What are we getting ourselves into when we meet someone? Can you trust your instincts? Will your heart rule your head?

I love Amelia, she scared me at times but I definitely want to read more.

Unique, dark and quirky

Amelia clearly has had a traumatic childhood, which might go to explain why she is the way she is and when she meets the handsome man next door it brings back some memories she had hoped to have forgotten. I think deep down Amelia is a sexual deviant and enjoys the attention from Guy she so lacked from her childhood but hates being out of control and this she battles with.

The book is written from the perspective of that from Amelia and starts with a prologue that

Beyond the Pale’ by E.J.Wood.

This has to be one of the really bad books I have read. The proof-reading is horrific, nothing less.Any number of spelling mistakes, grammatically incorrect language, and incomplete sentences. As if this was not enough, the genre changes from suspense to romance to porn. I valiantly tried to get through it,but alas, could not. There is no reason to write about complex psychological issues, if all you can present is lengthy, verbose extracts, and utter gibberish. I ha
