As a registered nurse the hospital part irked me. I come across family members like that every day, who curse you and threaten you. I don't cower. You gotta be a fool to threaten the person taking care of your loved one. It's not our fault that they are in the situation they are in. To say you better pray she is ok is assisine. We are the ones who take care of them and save their lives. Be thankful we do all we can. A nurse should never feel scared when she's doing her job. There are some things as a nurse you cannot discuss with family because it isn't in your scope of practice. There are certain things only the doctor can share with family! Even test results. Ki got on my entire nerves. I did not like her. She was a rude nasty person who blamed everyone for her problems! She loved to play victim. If I was her sisters and mother I would have been done with her. Family or not no one gets to treat you like that. Once I found out the reason she was mad at her mother i was like really? At 12 she was naive. What 12 year old doesn't know having a baby and being pregnant is the same thing. To me it was a stupid reason to have been so dramatic. Her husband was a good man but too weak for me. He told her he loved her more than himself. That's an issue there. He had issues. I never love anyone more than I love yourself. I was still waiting for this psychological thriller to happen. This series lasted way too long. I had to keep putting it down because I disliked ki that much. Too many unanswered questions. Who was really the baby father? What happened with ki when she was pregnant and she wandered off and didn't remember? What was the point of bringing Barry's ex wife and child into the picture? Nothing came of it. Ok read overall.
A Mother Within Her 1-3 I don't quite get the subtitle after reading this series. True enough she had some major physiological issues going on but "thriller", I didn't see it as that. But anyways "Ki"...like I said, she had some major issues that stemmed from her thoughts of how her mother raised her and her sisters without a father around. A incident from her past also made her feel unworthy to be a mother. Her issues was beginning to take a major toll on her relationship with a guy who loved her beyond her wildest dreams. Her past had her so hindered she could not realize that. I was so back and forth at first, I really didn't know who side to be on, Ki's or her husband. But Iman, her husband got on my nerves just as much as Ki as the story went on. She wanted to fault others for the poor choices she made, every single thing she did, it was someone else's fault. She was a very ungreatful, insensitive bihh. Finally her lies and secrets caught up with her. There were some really great scenes in this book, but at times I would loose focus for the very reason I see in many first person books, the repetition. This author did it no where near as much as I have seen in some books, but it still frustrates me. Eventhough I had a couple of issues with this book. It was some inconsistencies and parts that had me scratching my head. I heard a lot of good things about this author, so I will try another book by her 3*
Takiyah was/is the biggest, most selfish, hateful, vindictive and irresponsible character I have ever read. A hair's breathe away from death, she's in the hospital b lying, being rude, being crass and wishing death upon Barry when she willingly engaged this man and slept with him. His (Barry's) death without ever getting to voice his side, rekindle his bond with his son or establish one with Jolie. Her was robbed of his basic rights then abruptly cut from the story, not cool. Takiyah is and was ridiculous for persecuting Linda all of those years. It is and was obvious that Linda's actions were those of love. I knew Iman wasn't leaving and that was a pity because he was a good man and did not deserve the drama that came with loving Takiyah. Editing in this book was poor. There is a sentence were Takiyah is pledging her love to Barry when it's clear she meant Iman. Subpar final, charming read overall
This conclusion had me all kinds of emotional.Welp, too bad for Barry. 🤷🏾♀️ But how bout that Heather? I hate what happened to her but the way she handled it was totally uncalled for. After all if she would’ve have stayed professional in the first place the whole situation could have very well been prevented. Now that I’ve addressed that let me say I’m glad to finally find out the backstory on Kiyah and I’m overjoyed her and Linda were able to overcome the past and mend their relationship.Iman has to be one of the greatest men ever.A lot of men would have walked away for less but he remained the stand up guy he was throughout the entire series.I’m a sucker for happy endings and this was literally one for the books!
This series was a struggle for me to the point I wanted to find out how the story ended so I skipped through pages and chapters of this book. It's hard for me not to finish a book once I've started. I didn't like the writing style. I found the books to be very repetitive the way almost every chapter started with a recap of the previous one as if you didn't just read that a minute ago. It felt as though the writer was running out of things to say so the characters kept saying the same things over and over again. This could have been wrapped up in one book. It was drawn out and annoying. I gave it two stars because I could somewhat finish the series.
When I say Kiyah got on every nerve in my body and she was sooo hateful to everyone, police, sisters, husband, Physicians and her mom! Inman was the best and he continued even when he downplayed Heather he thought about it. Trials and tribulations follow this couple and Barry is the ultimate test. He knows Takiyahs secret and when his ex wife shies him from his son and he’s had enough! I love how no matter what the sisters rally around Kiyah and will or allow her to get rid of them and even Linda. Tragedy does bring these feelings together to celebrate life, family and ❤️, The road was long but they made it! Loved this story!
I'm glad Kiah got her happy ending. She been through so much I guess she deserved that break through. I say I guess because I'm still kind of mad about Barry. He died in vain. No justice or nothing. She should have had to pay in some sort of way. All that man wanted was to be in his kids life. He died just for wanting a chance with his kids. That upset me 😤 But I also know it's a book and not real life so I can't get too mad lol my kids laugh at the way I read. I be yelling at the characters and everything, as if it was a movie 😂😂🤣🤦♀ Well I enjoyed reading this 3 series book. I enjoy everything by you. You rock!
I hate doing reviews because I feel like it cuts into the time I could be doing in starting on reading another book, 🤣 yea I LOVE to read. Anyway, this series as well Takiyah was OFF THE CHAIN, and chile she did not hold back that mouth of hers either. I won’t give away the book but it was exceptional from book 1 all the way to book 3. Lady Lissa has moved up to being my #1 favorite author, next to Zane and I didn’t think anyone could top her but she did it tho. Well I’d say, they’re both my #1’s, I know you can’t really have 2 number 1’s but oh well, it’s a first time for everything 🤷🏽♀️🤣🤣. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!!!! 🙌🏽
This was a good series. Kiyah definitely needed a therapist because she had serious issues. I hated the way she went off on people, especially clinical and hospital staff. Iman was a great husband and father and while I don't doubt the love he had for Kiyah, he was out of touch with her feelings. She tried to talk to him, but he wasn't really hearing her. I loved Nya and her insistence on keeping check on Kiyah, regardless of how Kiyah treated her. I was glad that there was a happy ending, but Kiyah needs to let go of that one secret she's clinging to.
This installment of A Mother Within Her was good a "teachable" read if you will. We find out why Takiyah was so angry at her mother and why she didn't want to have kids and why she kept trying to get rid of them. That was heartbreaking. It was sad that it took TWO tragedies to happen to her and Iman for her to realize how she had been treating everyone and mad at the wrong person for all those years. Barry was just plain old nuts!!! S by e should've never hooked up with him! Lol but overall I enjoyed reading this book 👍👍
So i gave this book a 4 star because only some of things was discussed like ki did not tell her sisters the truth about there cousin rapping her or about having the abortion when she was 12 years old also iman never got a chance to test joli about her being his little and iman got the which pregnant again... Then the sisters was begining to get on my nerves because they was always raking ki side over iman and joli real father did not have a chance to tell jis story because ki killed the man
This was truly a great series. I hate to see it come to a end. Ki lies and deceit finally caught up with her and hurt Iman to the core. Iman was lost when he found out the truth about Barry , Ki, and the reason behind her tragic incident. He finally got some clarity when Ki mother took responsibility for some of Ki actions. However Ki was still refusing to take responsibility and accountability for her own actions until Iman gave her a ultimatum.
I would have liked to hear more of Brenda and her pass with Barry. I’m so so happy that Kiyah and her mother mended their broken relationship, that made me cry happy tears. I thought that Iman treated Heather rather coldly when she came to him for help, I understand that she stepped out of line with him in the past, but still he was so mean when she came to him for help. Iman and Kiyah went through so much, glad they had a happy ending.
I really enjoyed this series . This is a must read. So glad to see happy ending . This book had me all in my feelings. Iman was such a good Man .ki had some major issues. But now I can see why. Glad she got help. And that all her family is at a better place. Glad Barry got what he deserved but didnt under stand his story .this was a excellent series
So I real,y loved this series! All the twist and turns were amazing. Glad that Iman was able to forgive Ki although she was very disrespectful and ungrateful. Glad her and her mom worked their relationship out. It’s so try how a persons past can lead them to make terrible decisions in the future! Awesome read!
I just read all three books in one day and I have to say I’m a little disappointed. I felt like the ending was rushed but so many other parts dragged on. The books were good but I think the books could’ve gave a little more background on some areas and a little less in others.
This was a good ending to the series, although I still am not 100% team Kia, I felt like the way some of the things unfolded helped me not to dislike her as much as before. The side story about Iman at work was also pretty good and it held my interest until the end. I also appreciated the dialogue which broke down the relationship Kia had with her mom more in depth. Good series.
I enjoyed this series. Ki had some issues that developed at the age of 12. Ki thought due to her past that she was unfit to become a mother. Ki wanted to blame everyone else for her issues. People need to realize things will come to the light. Iman was an awesome husband and father. I’m happy that the Ki and her family was able to become a family again.
This book was so good with unpredictable twists and turns. Iman got shot now I definitely didn't see that one coming. That girl was a certified nut. Now she'll spend the rest of her life in jail. Now that's crazy for sure. I'm just glad everything worked out for the best and Iman wasn't getting hurt anymore.
Really enjoyed this series. With all the drama that Takiyah put Iman through he still remained faithful and stood by his wife side. I was glad Takiyah finally had a talk with her mother and they were able to mend their relationship. Great series.
This series was a roller coaster ride hadn't emotions all over the place but in a good way. I'm happy about the ending it was long overdue for the characters in my opinion everyone had ups and downs. This author nailed it.
Part 3 picked up where the last book left off. It is worth reading. I expected a different ending but this one was good. Everything you have been wondering about from the first 2 books get answered in this one.
This was a great finale. The tragedies were sad but it brought Ki and Oman closer and also the family closer together. I'm glad Ki forgave her mom. Barry did kinda get what he deserved. I loved the ending.
I have Read all 3 series less than 2 weeks. I could not put it down. Ky was a ticking time bomb but she had a real man to stick by her through all her craziness. Now that’s relationship goals🤗
This series turned out great.. Takiyah had a lot going on and she was starting to work my last nerve. I was glad to read what her behavior was so off!!! Linda Linda, I totally get it!!. Wow...
It wasn't what I was expecting at all; hence, is why I have it THREE STARS. It was an okay read ... nothing interesting! I am going to go on to read another series ... I was truly disappointed with this third installment in this series!
This book was awesome. I was intrigued and couldn't wait to finish the series to see what happened. A good page turner. One that will keep you up all night wanting to finish reading it. A must read
This was a great book! I didn’t expect the characters to be like they were. It surprised me and I stayed on the edge all the time. I can’t tell about the book without giving it away. So just read it. I highly recommend it.
I was hoping that the truth would come out. I for one don't think it's right that a child doesn't know their biological father. What if something happens and the child needs medical help? I'm the end I'm glad that she was able to mend her differences with her family.
