Although this was said to have been a television show back when I was a child it must have been the only one that I hadn't ever seen or if I had I don't remember it like I do some others that are now long gone. Instead this book was a childhood book of ours and one in which the characters are quite memorable even if the stories aren't.

The book starts off with a letter to the parent that explains how to foster a lifelong habit of reading you should allow your child to catch you reading for recreation and also to read to them quite regularly. As such you will find the excuse of "read me a story" to get out of bed can actually become quite a magical time of bonding for the caregiver and child who follow such a regiment.

As for this book it has nine different stories with some a bit longer than others and a few quite short. Some are quite familiar for they include fairy tale characters, Easter egg hunts and magic lamps with a twist while others are quite a trip into fantasy or even a bit of reality with these fantastical characters.

What makes this a fun book, though, is the fact that there are only three main characters - a blue cat named Granny, a monster creature with eyebrows under his eyes named Kimble and a weird puppet named Upup. With each different story another fun side of their personality pops out and so the further you read into their stories the more you get to know them.

The actual stories aren't really very long but do contain some very nice lessons for young readers. But what will catch the attentive reader's eye the most will be the fact that the book is alternatively illustrated in grayscale and color illustrations. As such you will never know how the colors will splash until you turn the page.

All in all it is quite a charming collection of bedtime tales that haven't been told and one in which you may find yourself remembering their characters for quite a while to come.
