Stealing his heart.

As a thief and a warlock, Noah survives by using his wit and charm to prey on the privileged. His dangerous criminal boss wants an enchanted dagger belonging to a family of wealthy mages, including their pampered—but handsome—son, Ben. Failing to complete the job will be hazardous to Noah’s survival.

Noah bumps into Ben at a lavish party, and as soon as t

Interesting world, of which I wished we had more infos. The MCs were the typical enemies to lovers couple, and I enjoyed reading about their scenes, but I still think that we needed more feelings and probably a better execution of the whole plot. There are still some questions with no answers, and that annoyed me a bit. I'm not saying that the book was bad, bcs it wasn't, but that I hoped for more. Also the characters personalities were intriguing at start, but later lost their attractivn

Much like Lady and the Tramp, this story gives us two lovers who are worlds apart. Ben has been raised in an ivory tower, trained in the best schools, both for academics and for magic. Noah lives in the warlock infested slums, learning his magic piecemeal from whomever he can get to teach him. Ben is swimming in wealth and luxury, while Noah has to pick pockets and steal odd and ends just to feed himself. Mages and warlocks do not, have never, been equal, and if B

The intricacies of a society of mages and warlocks, who have magic but can’t pay to be officially trained and recognized, are at the center of this story. It turns out to be quite a complicated world with more secrets and unexpected revelations than I suspected at first glance. Criminals go up against high society, the rich and powerful are not always what they seem, there are weak and strong houses ruled by a council, and rumored soul bonds have unknown effects on the type of magic someone cont ...more

This was a very interesting read. If I had to describe this book it is a book about two men from different sides of the tracks per say, but with a twist of them being on the paranormal side of things. Though these two men want to be together, they have so much standing in their wsy.

Noah is a warlock with magical powers. The problem is warlocks are considered to be less than other people with magical powers such as mages. Knowing hat he is low on the scale of people makes it hard to make a decen

Another winner in the Dreamspun Beyond series and this one really balanced out the paranormal with the fluff so darn well. I was hooked on Noah and Ben immediately and was ready to learn all about Mages, Warlocks and the mythical/unattainable soul bond.
It isn’t possible. It is a story.

Being a hopeless romantic I am head over heels for the possibility that fate has one person out there for you and that usually, it’s the least person you’d expect. Maybe it’s because my husband and

Although I read a lot of paranormal books with various creatures, I always prefer if the authors put some "context" or background into a story for readers. One of my pet peeves is when I am expected to jump into a paranormal/urban setting without a lot of background; and the author expects the readers to catch up as easily as reciting ABC. Well, it's not, okay? Not for me.

I don't really understand all these talks about "House of…", Council, Enduring Circles, Endless, and oth

From that review: Soul Bonds by J.S. Harker is another first for me.  New story by a new author, something I have always enjoyed.  It was a easy tale to dive into, starting immediately with its great characters and intriguing plot.  Thieves and warlocks?  Fae and wizards?  A divided society and tight social strata?  All great elements and Harker combined them to wonderful effec

This deserves a more thorough review, and I will get to it later, but for now let me just say I thought this one was great, with an unexplored magical caste system and metaphysics that I easily found myself believing.

Well, it had to happen at some point. I knew it was too good to be true that I would continue to love all of the books in the Dreamspun Beyond series. Not that they’ve had a bad run. Twenty-three books that I have enjoyed reading before reading Soul Bond, number twenty-four in the Dreamspun Beyond series.

From looking the author, JS Harker, up on Amazon and Dreamspinner, Soul Bond looks to be the author’s first book. The

Great world building

I don't recognize the author but I think they have some great ideas about the details that make a good fantasy world. I thought the story, the writing, lacked something in comparison but can't put my finger on it, hence it lost one star, well, that combined with the sudden ending!?

A book I was happily fully immersed in and left wanting to know more about this world and what happens next.

I really liked this story. Noah has had to survive on his own for a long time and that causes him to take a bit too big of a risk. Ben has been looking for his soul bond forever and refuses to settle for anything less than true love.

Noah tries to deny the connection between himself and Ben but every time they are near each other it continues to grow stronger. Ben jumps in with both feet determined that Noah has

The magic part of this story was wonderful and very satisfying. I loved how the author depicted the “entwining” and how powerful they become when they work together.

I didn’t feel their personal connection as strongly and I wasn’t always sure of the “rules” in this “world”.

I think – if this becomes a series – more information on how things work and spending more time with the emotional connection would help me warm to the series more.

It was still a lot of fun and I recommend it to fans of soul m

JS HARKER loves stories. She was one of those kids who always had a book in her hands and spent many hours adventuring with her siblings. These days she wanders into her imaginary worlds and conjures up tales of magic, passion, and happily-ever-afters. She currently lives in the part of the Midwest that makes Tatooine look interesting by comparison (not that she’s ever obsessively thought about be ...more
