With his bestselling Smoke Jensen series, William W. Johnstone has created a hero whose mountain-man roots, trail-driving grit, and gun-blazing sense of justice embody the frontier spirit of America. Here, in one volume, are two of the Western legend's most powerful adventures . . .
TRIUMPH OF THE MOUNTAIN MAN In a land of opportunity, there will be opportunists. But few are as vicious, cruel--or flat-out evil--as Clifton Satterly. This power-hungry robber baron has set his sights on Tua Pueblo, a quiet town in the New Mexico Territory. He plans to seize the timber-rich land through brute force and strip it clean with slave labor. But there's one thing he didn't plan on: a one-man wall of resistance named Smoke Jensen . . .
JOURNEY OF THE MOUNTAIN MAN When it comes to outbursts of violence in the Old West, there's nothing worse than a range war. They're fueled by greed, fanned by gunfire, and fated to end in bloodshed, Which is why Smoke Jensen would just as soon keep his distance. But when his cousin Fae is involved, he's got no choice but to strap on his Colts, team up with four old friends--and get ready for a hundred-gun showdown. This is going to be one hell of a fight . . .
William W. Johnstone is the #1 bestselling Western writer in America and the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of hundreds of books, with over 50 million copies sold. Hey everyone we all love Smoke "Kirby" Jensen, The Last Mountain Man. These adventures of Smoke are action packed, and it also shows he had a lot of friends who never forgot him and Preacher. From the times he was with Preacher and the Mountain Men who he met still come to his aid, if they hear about in time. But it seems they hear and start toward the journey to help Smoke. He loses some of those friends either to death or they just never heard of again...such is life. I also give much "hee ya yah" to Smoke's morality He isn't a "cheater" no matter how attractive he finds these flirtatious women, he doesn't respond..what a man. Strong family values and respect goes a long ways.... Your going to greatly ENJOY reading
I am an avid reader of the Smoke Jensen and Preacher series, I don’t think I’ve missed reading any one of them. This one,(two) did not come up to my expectations. Everything seemed to be just a bit off, it did not have the Smoke Jensen magic. A worthwhile read and certainly worth your time. If you’re not a longtime reader of this series you probably won’t pick up on the difference. Enjoy either way because it is an interesting read!
I would select ALL the stars, if there were more to select from to rate Your books! I keep selecting Your books to read, as You are one of my favorite writers! Smoke needs a cape. I've read many, many Johnstone novels and they are all good to a certain extent. Jensen while a good family man goes off on expeditions and leaves his family alone for weeks at a time. He then kills tens of bad guys while "sometimes" getting slightly wounded
This is one of his best stories about Jensen. Easy reading and makes you want to finish it. These are really interesting western stories. Enjoy them all.
As usual it was captivating and interesting to the end. It was as if I was participating in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and action packed narrative.
