Disney Junior Fancy Nancy: My Fanciest Things
Ooh la la! Nancy loves all of the fancy things in her room—like the fabulous tutu she wore at her dance recital, her exquisite tea set, and the magnifique vanity table that once belonged to her grandmother. But Nancy will soon discover that there’s something extra special that Nancy’s fanciest things all have in common… Disney Junior’s Fancy My Fanciest Things is a brand-new picture book with gorgeous watercolor art by Grace Lee and a heartwarming original story, based on the animated show and inspired by the classic picture book series. Disney Junior’s Fancy Nancy is an animated family comedy starring six-year-old Nancy, a girl who is fancy in everything from her advanced vocabulary to her creative, elaborate attire. The show is based on the New York Times bestselling book series Fancy Nancy by Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser.

You know, I didn't think I was going to like this one. I'd read another Fancy Nancy title based on the TV show, so I was prepared for more Disney-fied Nancy... and in this case, I thought I'd just be getting a list of material things without much substance.
Surprisingly, though, this book is actually pretty good. Though it doesn't have much of a story, it still manages to capture some of the essence of the character. Nancy uses fancy words (which are explained in the text), and does everything in the fanciest way possible. Here, she tells the reader about all of her favourite fancy possessions. While this could have been a pretty shallow premise for a book, it actually doesn't turn out that way, since every object and activity reminds her of someone she loves (which is a pretty sweet message, and a nice way of looking at material possessions).
I also like the artwork in this. Unlike some of the other books based on the Disney show, this one doesn't look like the pictures are just digital stills. Instead, the characters are rendered in lovely watercolours. It's a different look from the original Fancy Nancy books, but I actually kind of like it.
Overall, this was a pleasant surprise. While it wouldn't be the first book I would recommend to Fancy Nancy newbies, I would definitely recommend it to fans of the character. It's a different way to see her (and her family and friends), and that's kind of interesting.

Although these are not the drawn style classics, the modern illustrations are so beautiful and bright. I love that these books always have a special meaning behind each material object like family portraits, lockets and family heirlooms.

Surprise! A picture book tie-in for a TV show is aesthetically beautiful and even touching. I never imagined that such a thing was possible. Even though this book isn't on the same level with the original author's work, it got the characters and the tone of the series right, and I appreciate how it explored the emotional value of special possessions created by or inherited from loved ones. This provides a nice counterpoint both to consumer culture and to minimalist trends that downplay the importance of sentimental belongings.

How did I not know that Grace Lee was illustrating these? I love her! My favorite illustration is the closet with all of the clothes lined up. I want to play dress-up with her.

I love the original Fancy Nancy books. The story is ok, nothing really new, the illustrations are more detailed.

It's a really short read, and I think could benefit with a few more sentences on each page. However, the illustrations are really beautiful and full of fun and colour. Fancy. Love that Nancy realises how each item she owns reminds her of the people she loves, and that love is the best (or fanciest) thing of all.
I would borrow this book from the library for a fun read with the kiddies, but it is not a must-keep on our kids' shelf.

Fancy Nancy Clancy invites the reader in her room to take a look at some of her fancy things she loves. She shows her butterflies, her tutu, her tea set that's simple exquisite! ( that's a fancy word for lovely). She shows things that bring her happy memories, and she tells the reader the fanciest thing of all that she has.

As much as I wanted to love this book, it was just average. We are a Fancy Nancy loving household here so of course we adored the illustrations and characters. It's a decent story and has some great vocabulary words for the little one to learn.

My first Fancy Nancy book. I notice that it's not written by O'Connor so I won't judge her work based on this book.

This book has a different author and illustrator than the others. This illustrator is not quite as good as the usual one, Robin Preiss Glasser, but still is very talented.

I really enjoyed this edition of Fancy Nancy. This one touches on her friend and her sister.

This book was really cute but I thought it would have been a better story. But the illustration was beautiful.

At first it was cute how she would say a complicated word and then explain what it was fancy for. But that just got old quick. However, the illustrations are really cute.

Nancy loves all of her fancy things she has in her bedroom. What do you think all of her fancy things have in common?
