Gloria Copeland says, "You have a title deed to prosperity". As you read these words think of Paul who suffered in so many ways serving Christ, think of the martyrs and poor believers in other lands, and think of the thief on the cross. Why was HE not delivered and healed of his wounds and made rich? No. He went through what he did with the full knowledge and will of our dear Savior! Gloria Copeland is simply deceived!
"Divine prosperity and abundance belong to you now. We, as born-again believers, have the same authority that Adam had in the Garden of Eden." (Heretic Gloria Copeland)
To "prove" this she reasons from Scripture that God gave Adam authority over the earth but Adam relinquished that authority to Satan. But then, she says, "Jesus came to earth, paid the price, and recaptured that authority from Satan. Jesus, in turn, gave that authority to the believer." What verse does she use to "prove" this? Matthew 28:18-20: "And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”" Oh, dear reader, what part of this command to share the GOSPEL gives ME dominion over ANYTHING, guarantees me healing or prosperity, or assures me that I'll be provided a house like Gloria Copeland's? In order to buy into the prosperity gospel you must not only TWIST Scripture, you must stand it on its head!
Gloria Copeland is obsessed with her power to command things to be and to happen on earth. She gets this right from her reading of Mark 11 she says. She believes she can have the power of God over fig trees, mountains, and anything. Her words will make it happen. How different was Abraham. He KNEW he and Sarah were too old to have children and said those words and yet Christ still caused a child to be born - in spite of their words! No, God is sovereign and does as He pleases no matter what I say. If one keeps reading in Mark 11, by the way, you will find that the Lord Jesus was concerned with the forgiveness of sin and NOT my ability to kill fig trees or move mountains!
Gloria Copeland tries to explain how angels work. This extra-biblical "revelation" is ridiculous and easily proven wrong by reading the actual Word of God. She says "The words of your mouth bind them or loose them to work for you." AND "The angels are waiting on your words. The angels cannot work against our words. They will not work without words." A simple look at Scripture will show how wrong this information is. Let's look at Acts 12 where a real believer (Peter) was ministered to by a real angel and see how Gloria's information holds up. Peter was in jail and the other believers were praying for his release. Guarded by four squads of soldiers, chained to two guards, all of a sudden an angel struck Peter on his side and woke him up. Peter said nothing. We know only that the church was praying for him fervently. The angel led him out of the prison in a miraculous way with gates being opened by themselves etc. All this time Peter went along with the angel but thought it was all a vision. If Gloria Copeland is correct then the angel was not behaving appropriately. Oh, she MAY say that it was not Peter's words but the words of the church that led the angel to act. Let's look at this faithful church. In verses 15 and 16 of Acts 12 we learn that the church thought the servant girl was crazy because she thought Peter was at the door and when they finally opened the door they were astounded to find Peter there - out of prison. So surely it was not their words or their faith that caused the angel to act on Peter's behalf. No we learn in verse 17 that it was the Lord that led him out of the prison! I thank the Lord that He does not leave my salvation or my destiny in my hands or at the mercy of my faith or words! God is sovereign and He does as He pleases!
Gloria Copeland misuses and in Chapter 8 actually changes the Word of God to attempt to prove her false thesis that a right mental attitude can defeat Satan. Notice her "quote" of Daniel 3:17-18 and compare it with this actual quote: "If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”" Notice that Gloria leaves out the three Hebrew young men's statement "But if not" that indicates their willingness to leave their fate in God's hands rather than "decree" their own deliverance from the fire. She left it out because it did not fit her religion of "name it, claim it" and "positive confession". In her world, their "faithless" statement of doubt should have condemned them to burn in the furnace! Oh, dear friend and family, reject this false teaching and put your trust in Christ alone!
