Honestly, I could go on and on about my love for Jen Turano's writing until Buttercup came home. She is my favorite historical author. I know that some people have a hard time with the ridiculousness of her stories, but honestly, they make me laugh so hard. They are always the perfect mix of comedy, romance, drama, and inspirational all wrapped into one enjoyable book sized package.

This might have been her most ridiculous story yet and that is saying something since I distinctly rememb

May I have your attention please?

I’ve just read my first book by Jen Turano.

And, now I must collect everything she’s ever published!!

Flights of Fancy, the first book in Jen Turano’s new American Heiresses series features an heiress in disguise, a quirky elderly uncle, rogue barnyard animals, four adorable ginger-haired children, a slimy villain and one dashing hero!

I instantly loved each character in this book! Isadora Delafield is adorably long-winded and has an explanation for everything. Ia

I really needed a laugh and this book took care of that need. There are so many wonderfully crazy things in this book that kept me turning the pages wondering how it would all turn out. Seriously, who would let a chicken or a cow in the house as pets? Would you hire a housekeeper who couldn't boil water? Crazy!

Isadora is a New York socialite who needs a place to hide from an unwanted and murderous suitor. She finds it at a farm in Pennsylvania. She struggles and wants to be successful as a house

Turano is the queen of slapstick CF. This books has all the familiar things you’d expect to see in a Turano book— eccentric characters and animal escapades. The plot is a familiar one for CF—a woman of means disguising herself to escape a misfortunate marriage. Julie Klassen did it in “Maid of Fairbourne Hall” and Cathy Marie Hake did it in “Fancy Pants.” But of course each authors brings her own voice to the table.

He had the sneaking suspicion her question was completely serious, which spoke volumes about her experience, or lack thereof, in the kitchen.

Delightfully engaging, Turano once again takes readers on a fanciful jaunt into the countryside with an heiress seeking anonymity from an unsuitable suitor. But fanciful isn’t the only thing going on here. What struck me most about this story is Isadora’s journey to becoming better—a better person, that is.

A delightfully fun read! Jen Turano has such a gift for writing stories that will make you laugh and put a smile on your face. This one is simply adorable and full of silly antics! It also includes plenty of heartwarming moments and a sweet romance.

I pretty much decided Jen Turano's books weren't for me a few years back because they're silly - like to the point where my personality didn't find them fun anymore because they are so unrealistic. I realize lots of people really like this style of book and that's great, I just don't.

And then today came. And I'm fighting off the flu so I didn't feel well. I had a stack of books just waiting to be read, but instead, I wanted something that would be exceedingly lighthearted

A high society lady goes undercover to escape marriage to a heinous man. She lands her self in a predicament (or two) that she isn't quite capable of handling. Cows who can open doors, goats who have a taste for freshly laundered clothes, and chickens...everywhere.
This all shapes up into a hilarious tale you'll want to finish!

The book boasts some adorable characters, from chubby babies to mischievous cows. Many a smile happened while I read this book.

There was instant chemistry between the two
What a fun start to a new series! Flights of Fancy was a cute romantic read with relatable characters and witty dialogue. This book was an entertaining, easy read.

It was impossible for me to not like the two main characters of the book. The author creates a wonderful scene at the beginning of the book to draw readers to Isadora, or Izzie, and make them instantly sympathize with and like her. Ian is equally as instantly likable and the two together are so much fun. It was nice seeing them form a

Flights of Fancy (American Heiresses, #1) by Jen Turano

Flights of Fancy is another wonderful, witty tale by Jen Turano.

It is 1885. Join American Heiress, Isadora Delafield, as she takes her Flight of Fancy to escape the clutches of a most unsuitable suitor. She flees from New York Society to a remote farm in Pennsylvania. There she encounters a successful man of business, Ian MacKenzie, his Aunt Birdie and eccentric Uncle Amos and four endearing orphans. She tries to pass herself off as a housekeeper with hilarious results. While learning a complet

'And you thought it wise to provide a woman who'd gotten herself stuck in the wringer of a washing machine with a rifle and bullets?'

Jen Turano is a particular favorite of mine and she will have you laughing out loud all the way through her books, while learning a wonderful spiritual lesson.

Miss Isadora Delafield is a New York high society American heiress who has everything she could ever want. When her mother begins to pressure her greatly to marry a British duke, she begins to think somethin

It’s no secret that Jen Turano is an extraordinary author. Each and every one of her books brings joy and a smile to my face. There’s not a lot of authors that bring humor to their historic novels, which is too bad, because I happen to think they go together quite nicely. Turano thinks that as well.

I have been excited about Flights of Fancy since I first heard about it. A high society socialite disguising herself as a housekeeper? Sign me up! And while you know what the final outcome of the book

This book was fun...just so much fun...lots of animals...goats, chickens, a cow that loves a lovely home...clumsy socialite woman...adorable man attorney...four ornery and totally lovable children...and an Aunt and Uncle that started it all on a farm. Who couldn’t enjoy a read with all of that ( besides we actually do bring our goat in the house from time to time- FUN!)

It’s a charming story as only Jen Turano can deliver!

Really don’t miss out on this author. She is her very own genre!

This book was a very delightful read! I love Je Turano books and this one is as good if not better than her other reads! This right here is the reason I anticipate every new Jen Turano book. There is a lot of laughing on my part when I’m reading them, but these stories also have depth to them. And Flights of Fancy adds even more elements to that winning combination.

When Isadora Delafield goes into hiding, posing as a housekeeper seeking a position, she lands at Glory Manor. And hijinks ensue. Isadora, now known as Izzie, hasn’t the first clue how to keep house. Her endeavors with a washing machine, cooking, and bo

Jen Turano consistently lives up to my expectations. If ever I want a romantic comedy to brighten my day, her books are always at the top of my list.

Though it may seem far-fetched to have an heiress who's never done a day's work in her life manage a household, this is largely negated by the utter chaos--and unusualness--of the household she is theoretically running. Izzie might be incompetent at basic household tasks like washing clothes and boiling water, but they're desperate, she's there, an

I am not a fan of historical fiction but I never miss a chance to read a novel from Turano. I love the wit and humor and the snappy dialogue. I think I have read most of her novels and this may be the best one yet.

What might happen when Isadora, a young heiress to her family's wealth, flees New York society to escape the the advances of a truly lecherous duke from England? Helped by a butler, she manages to travel to rural Pennsylvania to secure a job as a … housekeeper.

Get ready for some trademark Turano humor and hijinks!

Sadly this wasn’t my favorite of Jen Turano’s novels but it still had all of the things that make her writing so unique! From the creative cast of characters with all their varying eccentricities, to animals that seem to have their own personalities, to a mystery needing to be solved, and a cute love story!

I enjoyed seeing Isadora and Ian come to realize that money and social standing really don’t matter. That it’s the people we have in our l

One of my absolute favorites by this author.

I think I actually liked our hero, Ian MacDREAMY, even more then Izzie herself.

I've looked at the one star reviews for this book, and they just don't get or appreciate this kind of writing. It's supposed to be silly and far-fetched at times. If you're looking for a serious, historically dramatic story, then this author is not for you. Authentically quirky and occasionally zany, this heartwarming story proves that you can indeed take the city out of the city girl and with entertaining results! This book is Jen Turano storytelling at its finest, including the irresistible combination of children and animals.

Jen Turano creates magnificent characters. Her people have every strength, virtue, flaw, and weakness they should to make them believable. If I had a quibble, I’d say that sometimes her villains are just a little too perfectly evil, but seriously, I like them just the way they are regardless.

Not only that, she manages to create storylines that aren’t the same old, done a million and one times, plots that just get tied up in a different colored ribbon. Even the most unbelievable scenarios become

I thought it was fabulous! I think Flights of Fancy is one of my favorite books by Jen Turano. The story was engaging and fun. I giggled a lot. I really liked the cast of character's in this story.  Each day was an adventure and I had a hard time putting this story down. I had to find out what was going to happen next especially with Isadora and Ian. I especially love Buttercup and Elmer.  Jen Turano's regency romances will keep you entertained and smiling long after you've finished.

Flights of Fancy is the first installment in the “America Heiress” series by Jen Turano and I can confidently say Turano set us up for a wonderful series. Not only did she write a delightful Historical Fiction novel set just after the Industrial revolution, but she was true to what we know and love of her writing. For those of you who are new to Turano as an author you can expect quick witted stories that have fun twists and turns. I find myself chuckling under my breath frequently and laughing ...more

There isn’t a storyteller out there that can match with Jen Turano. Her ability to create vivid scenes, loveable characters, and a time machine to the past are apparent in each book. Flights of Fancy is by far my favorite story from her. Isadora Delafield may be a classy heiress but she has many layers to her depths and it was a delight to weave through them.

Isadora is possibly one of my favorite characters of all time. I never read a back cover prior to starting a book for review, an
