Heart Quake by Ishita Deshmukh is a romantic fiction. It is author's debut book. The plot of a story based on natural calamity happened in Bhuj in 2001.

The two main characters of this story are Sonal Patel and Tejas Desai. Sonal is a medical-surgical nurse, lives in Delhi. She is an ambitious and career oriented woman. Tejas is one of India's leading cardiologists and owner of a hospital in Jaipur. He is rich but solicitous. There are other characters too who play an imp

Natural disasters are unfortunate. These cannot be prevented, averted, predicted with certainty. Only thing we can do is minimize the damage or do better post disaster relief work.

One of the most devastating earthquake in the history of independent India hit Bhuj, Gujarat in 2001. There was a colossal loss of life and property. Jagrut Samaj, an NGO under Doctor Shah is working tirelessly for relief work. Soanl also joins the camp. Tejas also joins the NGO and relief work. They come close and the

Heart Quake is the story of Sonal and Tejas. Sonal went to Bhuj, after Earth Quake to search for her friend Smita and also to help in Medical Camps. Tejas, on the other hand, came to Bhuj for work where he found Sonal. Will these long lost lovers meet? What will happen in Bhuj?

The story started in an excellent manner describing the Bhuj Earthquake but later it was getting lengthy and dull. What I appreciated the most was how each of the characters handled the chaotic situations in a great manner

Am not a big fan of romances or love stories, but yes, I do like my chick lits. So when this book, Heart Quake by Ishita Deshmukh found its way into my review list, I was skeptic about the way it would turn out and the hours I’d have to tolerate it. But to my surprise, I was mistaken. One of my good reads, if not the finest, of this year, the author has managed to pen a story that neither tortured me nor made me curse my decision of taking up professional book reviewing for the nth time!

The story was particularly interesting to me as it is set in the aftermath of the earthquake that occurred in Gujarat in the year 2001. As I am a resident of Ahmedabad, our city too was badly affected by the earthquake and I can certainly relate to many of the scenes described in the book.
The main character in the story is Sonal Patel, a nurse. She arrives in Bhuj, Kutch, i.e. the city that was the epicentre of the earthquake, in order to volunteer at a medical camp that has been set up to help

The story is set in the backdrop of one of the most devastating natural calamity that India has seen in recent times- The Bhuj earthquake. The story revolves around the lives of Sonal and Tejas, both from medical profession. Ten years ago they had parted ways owing to a small misunderstanding. The fate brings them together when they reach Bhuj to take part in relief operations and put together in a medical camp. Both come with a different agenda each, Sonal to look for her friend and Tejas to pr ...more

Read about it in the newspapers and bought the book. Pleasantly surprised. Very well paced story and keeps the reader interested and occupied from page 1 till the end. Many of the characters and the issues they face are very relatable and at the same time, the background of the earthquake is very interesting to say the least. Make one think how fragile life is and at the same time, how people have moved on from a natural calamity of that extent. How emotions are still so important to us humans e ...more

It is said that vulnerability is your greatest asset; it indicates that you are open to bounty and beauty. When you are vulnerable, your heart rages with emotions that otherwise succumb to the slumber. ‘Heartquake’ dates back to 2001 when a natural calamity ravaged lives as well as property. The earth convulsed to such a great degree that the repercussions were alarming. But amidst all the chaos and dread, there was also an overflow of emotions.

Heart Quake is a heartwarming story of love in the unlikeliest of scenarios, the aftermath of a natural disaster. The story follows two estranged lovers, who come face to face during the Bhuj earthquake. What follows is not only emotional turmoil but also intrigue (in the form of mysterious deaths). It is fascinating how different threads of the story unravel and finally converge in an exciting ending. It's a great effort by a first-time author and is definitely worth a read.

A very heart touching story based in Bhuj. After the Bhuj earthquake Sonal went there to find her friend and help in medical camps. She meets Tejas there, who is also there to help the victims and promote his hospital.
Life gives them a second chance to rekindle their lost love. They had separated their ways 10 years ago due to some misunderstanding.
Sonal is about to move on in her life, but meeting Tejas again makes it difficult for her. Will they accept their love for each other? Will they giv

A good novel must have five important elements; strong plot of the story, efficient character development, good flow of the story, language of the book and writing of the author. The plot of the story is quite strong; the main protagonists met during an earth quake in Bhuj. The book is failing a little in character development; I couldn’t relate to any of the characters. The flow of the story is fast paced; I’ve completed it in a single go. The language of the story is simple yet flawless. I ha ...more

Heart Quake is a debutant work by Ishita Deshmukh and she has done the tremendous job as a newbie author. The story is sets in the year 2001 when the massive and disastrous earthquake has drifted the city into the two parts and has changed the geography of the region.

Sonal Patel, our protagonist is a medical intern who have come to the city for two reasons one to find her friend, who is somewhere between these miseries and second being a doctor it’s her duty to come forward with a helping hand.

Heart Quake revolves around the emotional crisis undergone by two lovers at the time of the Bhuj earthquake that shook Gujarat in 2001, which is a theme that is rarely taken up.

In the city of Bhuj, after the entire shock, amidst all the chaos and dread, there was also an overflow of emotions in the book - love, friendship, and a whole bunch of confusion, hope in the time of disaster, which is a ray of sunshine.

Honestly, I was bit hesitant when I picked uo this book, post reading my thought was proved wrong. With the backdrop of well known calamity “Bhuj Earthquake” the author has nicely woven an interesting love story.

This is the story of Sonal, a medical-surgical nurse , Tejas leading cardiologist who owns a hospital and their love Which cherishes at an unusual place and unusual time during the course of finding her lost friend smita.

Who is smita ? Did their love have a happy ending?

So Heart Quake is a debut novel by the author Ishita and it is of romance genre. This is a love story of Sonal, a medical-surgical nurse and Tejas , India's leading cardiologists and owner of a hospital in Jaipur. Their love blossoms in an unlikely situation and place. But this book is not only based on a love story but has some mirch masala to it.

The story is set in the time when Bhuj was hit with a natural calamity. Many people died and the city was destroyed. Many Medical Camps were set in wi

There was nothing very special about the love story of Sonal and Tejas but the incidents were certainly different... Nobody will expect to meet your loved ones after 10 years in a bad situation. Moreover every small incidents were described specifically the pain of the people at that condition where nature plays harsh games, struggle of the doctors and of course the life of Sonal and Tejas.

The fact I didn't like is that almost every chapter begins with the death of people.... And in the middle p

Heart Quake so what does the title symbolize, is it a saying an emotional earthquake feeling of the heart. I should say it is a different title and unique by its own way. The cover of a couple kissing each other and the tremor of an earthquake exactly dividing them in the true sense

She has described beautifully every situation and characters. Sonal and Tejas are the protagonist of the story. They have met once again after their break up coincidentally in a same place. Then story goes with its flow. Concept of the story is based on love and a natural disaster, earthquake which had happened at Bhuj in the year 2001. Simple language an ...more

Ishita Deshmukh is, in many ways, a mascot for national integration! Born to Bengali and Gujarati parents, (who have a common Marathi surname) she grew up on a steady diet of Tamil culture and French literature in Puducherry. If that wasn’t enough, she is married to a Telugu bidda. She has this uncanny (and unnerving) ability to switch between six different languages in the course of a conversatio ...more
