Rich Cody joined the U.S. Marshals to hunt down bad guys, not babysit witnesses. Orders are orders, though, and now he’s protecting a hacker with ties to the Albanian and Sicilian mobs. It’s just another exciting day in WITSEC.

Leotrim Nicolosi was born into a world of crime and bloodshed. When that bloodshed hits too close to home, taking down Leo’s boyfriend—the son of a

What's even better? Looks like this is the beginning of a series. Well, dear authors, with this ending I seriously hope I'm right, or dealing with the mafia will be
** 3.75 stars **

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It read like an action flick with elements of angst and romance. By the time the book was over, I liked the MCs a little bit better than in the beginning. I don't know why but I couldn't connect to either Leo or Rich for the first half of the story. Maybe it had to do with too much going on, that I couldn't get a grasp on their personalities. Leo was a bit ambiguous about his revenge. It looked like if his boyfriend wasn't killed, he would have conti
4.5 stars !!!

Bullets flying, bombs exploding, cars chasing and flipping and narrowly escaping. Kidnappings and double crosses. Gah! This is better than an action film.

Half a star missing because I could have used just a tiny bit more romance. But I bet that's coming in book two of this duet which is fortunately published so I can go straight to it.
Quick review until I finish the duology.

1. I had never even heard of this book until last week.

2. I am so glad I saw it on my feed because I ended up L-O-V-I-N-G it.

3. I'm so glad it was free but I would have paid for it.

4. I'm so glad the second book is out already and I'm so glad that it will conclude the story.

Very, very, very good stuff.

I haven’t watched a movie in years but this story was written like a box-office action/suspense hit. Action starts early in the book, continuing regularly and often, up to the last few pages. Rich is a US Marshal on the team protecting Leo, who’s out to take down a mob boss. The attack has them joining forces and on the run. Character building and slow-simmering UST is interspersed with car chases, gun battles and explosions. Chock full of improbable, over-the-top situations, I had a b

This story hit my sweet spot. Law enforcement official and witness pulling together when the shit hits the fan. There are some possible nitpicks but I don’t care, because I’m a sucker for love on the run stories. From almost the first page you’re free falling into their scramble to figure out who they can trust and get ahead of the hydra attacking them. I was breathless as I was reading much of the second half of the story and wondering when they’d catch a break.

I really liked how Z and Witt ha

I liked this one. The pace is fast and the excitement is almost non stop. Both characters are flawed, neither has the perfect plan to stay alive and must cooperate to get out of their predicaments alive.

The book focuses on the beginning of Witsec for Leo and ends before he testifies so there is a lot of shit coming their way. The ending, with so many problems looming for Rich and Leo was unsatisfying after making it through alive. Honestly, I can't see a way these guys are going to be able to m

This was great ! Fast paced, lots of action, twists and turns. I really enjoyed this. Rich is assigned as Marshall to Leo who is turning evidence on the Grimaldis. Leo has been wrongly framed and everything has been taken from him. Rich has his own issues, one being hiding his PTSD. From the first moments these two are thrown together. Some great characters in this book that may come back to surface in the next book. It did finish suddenly- I wasn’t prepared for that but I guess another book wit ...more
Trust no one...

US Marshal, Rich Cody, finds his job of babysitting witnesses to be a bore. Delivering them to the safe house usually goes off without a hitch. That is until his team is assigned, Leotrim Nicolosi, a former hacker of the mafia and key witness to finally bringing down the Grimaldi's. However, on Leo's transfer all hell breaks loose and Rich is left to protect his witness. Problem is how was Leo's transfer discovered? The only answer the mafia has infiltrated the Marshals. 4.5 rounded up. Disclaimer: I was the editor on this book.

An exciting start to a new series! I can't wait to see what Cari Z and Lori Witt has in store for these guys in the next book. Dramatic, smart, sexy, with a lot of bite. You don't want to miss it.

Loved it!
Action. Action. Action. Mafia. Suspense. Ennemies working together...
Everything I love and adore in a romance.
Works every time.

I didn't realize it was the beginning of a series (well at least I hope it is...) but I'm exciting about what's next now!!!

Another great book from an amazing writing duo. I loved the Bad Behavior series and if this is the first installment of another series, I will be anxiously await another story.

I don't know how accurate the WitSec/Marshals procedural stuff is, or whether someone can get around the psych eval given a severe case of PTSD, but given the action/adventure and UST...well, it didn't distract me much. (Having an active Marshal for a Dad, feeding you info & tips, probably helps - but that brings up whole

This writing duo has managed to animate words on a page so well I feel like I'm watching a movie--a very thrilling, very frightening, very sexy, very nerve-racking action adventure. I made a note in chapter one that says it all: "Halfway through chapter one and I have one foot on a banana already. It's going to be an exciting ride." And it was!

Rich is a US Marshal, former Marine, and suffers from PTSD. Leotrim was raised in the Mafia, son of a father in the Mafia and a mother who is Albanian, wi
Woah action galore!! Really enjoyed this!

This is a duet so full review will be done after the second book!
”I’m scared too, okay? I’m scared shitless. But we have to just go in and get the job done. We can think about being scared later.”
“So, if we don’t die, we can stop and be scared later?”
“That’s not much of an incentive not to die.”

What a fleet-footed, action-packed, and adrenaline-rush drama this book is! But first thing first. I thought this book was gonna be a standalone, so imagine my surprise (and glee) when it turns out Rich and Leo are going to have a sequel. So, ya
Well, I didn't know this was set in Chicago, and as it's a Marshals story, my mind immediately ran to Miro, Ian and Sam Kage from All Kinds of Tied Down by Mary Calmes, which is book 1 of one of my all-time favourite series.

While I certainly can't say this story is in that kind of league yet [how could it be, there's no Chickie Baby 😉], I did like the characters enough to maybe take a chance on the next story...which there definitely should be as (view spoiler)

Reviewed for Just Love! And the best news ever is that there is a sequal in the works. So all of the begging I talk about below won't be needed. I'd still do it though! Can't wait to get my grabby hands on it.

Okay, I know I’m a few days late as this came out a few days ago, but I’ve been sick. I’m actually still sick, so give me a pass, would you? It’s hard to use the brain muscle when you’re drugged up on cold meds and you just want to sleep all day. ANYWAY…

Not sure why but I was not invested in the book even though I like works by both authors. Maybe it’s the combination that did not work for me. 😒

Oh, I enjoyed this one! Fast-paced from the get go, and a great romantic suspense romp. Got it as an ARC, but will buy it when it comes out.

I do know both the authors, FYI.

Another really good, really entertaining co-write by Cari Z and LA Witt.

Once I had a sense of the characters I was engrossed and the secondary characters added extra dimension too.

This is a very well paced piece of storytelling which pretty much hits the ground running and keeps going until the end, but it's never frenetic.

There's a little bit of sexy time, a building of a relationship, all while on the run.

The ending is HFN as opposed to HEA but I believe this is book #1 in a serie

Dnf somewhere in the first half. I accidentally deleted it from my kindle so I'm not sure where I stopped. lol
I noticed a mistake in the plot, at least it was a mistake to me, I don't think it was left like that on purpose. And because of that, the story lost it's credibility.
Also I can say the same thing that I said about Risky Behavior. Not exactly what I head in mind when I was looking for a crime book.

3.2 stars〜3.5 stars. Mehh. I did like the PTSD inclusion & how sex didn’t solve it. Narration for Rich was BAD, but I changed the narration speed to 1.10x for his chapters & it was a bit better. I haven’t completely decided if I will read the 2nd book whenever it becomes available in audio format.
EEK! I love Leo! I loved Leo more than Rich, but they were both great. Leo cracked me up at times. I loved how he was all Billy Badass, but he wasn't afraid to show he was scared.

I can't wait for more from these two!

Oh and I want more Smitty!!!!

The way this pair of authors manage action is outstanding. I was unable to stop reading and I simply couldn't read fast enough. From the start to the end, DOUBLE OR NOTHING was an amazing experience. A perfect mix of action and love.

Rich is part of the US Marshal, and his latest job is being part of a team that will protect a witness who's being transferred to a safe house. Leotrim is a hacker who has ties to the Sicilian and Albanian mobs. He's willing to testify to bring every member of the Gr

I knew this was going to be a great story, and I was right. I love the difficult subject matter when the Mafia is involved and there is no shortage of violence and betrayal in this story. I am actually looking forward to listening to this in audio, if that’s in the plans. This story was made for it, in my opinion.

Cody is a PTSD suffering U.S. Marshal, and Leo is the ex-Mafia witness he is protecting. The man who is betraying the family that he was bo
