Baby Dolphin: At Home in the Ocean made it to my favorite shelf because of the vast amount of information about dolphins all in one small book! This book discusses the life cycle of dolphins focusing mostly on the mother/baby relationship in a dolphins life cycle.
In the reading classroom, teachers could use this as a literacy component to a science lesson. There are also lots of vocabulary in this book that can be taught to students as well, along with life cycles and food chains as well.
I'm impressed with the ability of Sarah Toast to write a good story about animals in their natural habitats in as short a space as is given in these Leap Frog nature books. As with her other offerings, this story moves well and is solidly written, all while presenting some interesting facts about the lives of young dolphins.
