I have to say the hero in this book didn't have the best start for me. He was super arrogant and just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. But as the story continued he started to grow on me and ended up being not such a bad guy in the end. I also sometimes had mixed feelings about the leading lady. She was more likable a personality, I just sometimes struggled with how easily she gave into him with the way he acted and the things she thought he was doing. But she also ended up growing on me by the end as well.
The flow of the story wasn't necessarily my favorite. It did not go in chronological order, but instead sometimes jumped back and forth between the past and the present. While I do feel like the glimpses of the past that we got from those chapters and scenes was important, I personally feel like I would have enjoyed the flow better had I gotten all of that past information first and then done just one time jump to continue the story from there. The way it was done just made it kind of confusing at times.
The story really picked up steam towards the end and then I felt like it was on hyperspeed with a couple of unnecessary chapters thrown in at the end. But all of that being said, it was a really entertaining, very steamy story. It didn't go at all how I thought it would from the blurb of the story that I got before reading it though. That's not necessarily a bad thing. This is one of those books that in all honesty I think I might even have enjoyed more had I not read the blurb at all. But the blurb did at least get my attention and piqued my interest in reading the story. I just found myself expecting things to go a certain way and was a little thrown off when they didn't. All that doesn't change the fact that this ended up being a pretty good story in the end.

A story built on misunderstandings; this is a second chance medical romance that will have your heart beating faster and faster as you try to work out the plot twists... whilst we all know the hero and the heroine will get their HEA in the end, the road to true love never runs smoothly. This book gives us one helluva rocky road that will have you laughing, crying, cursing and leave you feeling like your heart has been put through a mangle! I feel emotionally battered, this is the type of story I seek, one that has all the feels.
Told from a dual POV the book is fast paced and character driven; I loved all the characters, even the secondary characters were great. It helps that there is a steamy hot guy to fixate on too. The book alternates between present day and the past. Reagan and Joel have a history, one shrouded in mystery with how it ended, there is YA feel to their past, childhood sweat hearts that went their separate ways... until they didn't! The sex scenes were smoking and explosive, sexual tension was present throughout. Ruby is just the cutest little kid ever. This book will take you on a tumultuous journey with secrets being unveiled, ones you won't see coming!
I thoroughly recommend this book for all lovers of second chance, romantic suspense lovers. Add this to your summer reading list, get lost in this doctor / nurse romance whilst relaxing on the beach. Perfect!

OMFreakingG!!! This book was so good I couldn’t sleep for reading so much. At first I had to read in between appointments but when I finally got settled in, it was over. This is a MUST READ book. I’m going to Chicago to find me a “Joel”. Im so glad Reagan and Joel ended up together...with the family they never thought they’d have. I didn’t want it to end. I’m still going back to it to see if there’s more going to pop up. Dee Palmer you’re awesome.

I've absolutely loved each and every book that this author has written. The author has given us a well written second chance medical romance that I really enjoyed.
Regan is a hard working nurse devoted to her work and her daughter Ruby. Joel is a doctor. Five years ago they were sweethearts however a misunderstanding destroyed that. These two are so hot together.
The story is told through two points of view. We are told the story through the past and the present which I really liked.
This is a fabulous summer read. I highly recommend it. Can't wait to read more from this author.

This book will have you rooting for the hero one minute,
and needing to kick him in the balls the next.
This book will make you smile when you meet the heroine, with the sweetest child,
then make you want to pull your hair out at her stupid decisions.
Regan is a hard working paediatric nurse, trying to juggle her work and family life.
Having come from a broken family she surrounds herself with loyal friends.
So what if she has no love life? She is pretty content in her bubble, isn't she?
She had loved once, in the past, but when he abandoned her for a life abroad she closed that door.
When sexy, self assured and arrogant Dr Lincoln Prescott the third
joins the hospital as the new paediatric doctor, all the ladies swoon.
Joel, Dr Prescott, has eyes only for Regan.
This sex on legs, hot man is Regan's ex no less, the breaker of her dreams,
her heart and her spirit.
Regan may refuse to acknowledge Joel's attempts to forgive and forget,
but her body refuses to get the message.
The more Joel tries to get close , the harder Regan pushes, all the way into his bed.
Regan has a history with Joel, wheather she accepts it or not.

Where do I start with this. Joel, WOW!! Who wouldn't love a hot doctor that knows how to please a woman. Shame he's a paediatrician or I'd put my hand up to be his next patient haha.
Joel & Reagan were teenage sweethearts destined to be together forever until the fateful day a misunderstanding sent them their separate ways.
5 years on this hot medical drama takes us on a journey of rediscovery when this great couple find themselves working together. From present to past and back again we find out all the details of what tore them apart and how they both got it so drastically wrong.
Told from a dual POV this author gives us all the feels with love, laughter, suspense, angst and a sexual tension that will set your kindle smouldering as it builds throughout the book. As much as Reagan tries to deny Joel, she's never met anyone since him who can fulfil her dark sexual desires and know who she is inside and out. I loved these two and the secondary characters just add to this great story, especially 5 yr old Ruby who is sharp as a tack as well as cute and funny. You may see the HEA coming but what a great trail we travel to get there.
So if your looking to add to your great summer reads 2018 this fast paced, well written, twisty, steamy doctor nurse romance should be at the top of your list. You won't be disappointed

If you’re new to the books of Dee Palmer, you’re in for a real treat. She has more than a few great books to delve into and I’ve always thrived on the way her characters come to life.
In Bone, we have Joel, who you are bound to immediately both love and hate. He’s as frustrating as they come and it’s only when we dig deeper into the story, that you truly understand him.
Regan is strong and has survived what’s been thrown at her. Her perception of Joel, however, is not entirely accurate.
I was enthralled by the characters and was pulled in, getting to know all the players.
However, I have to admit that I found the latter part of the story slightly rushed on this occasion.
Overall though, I enjoyed this book and would highly recommend immersing yourself in Dee Palmer’s books.

Regan has very little willpower when it comes to her ex, and very current fling, Dr. Joel Lincoln Prescott III. Their hate for each other is only eclipsed by their undeniable attraction and their desire for hot and extremely dirty sex.
Complicated doesn't begin to describe their past and their current relationship.... if only Regan could avoid him forever...

I really liked the plot for this book, and the sex was super H.O.T.
Regan and Joel once had relationship that seemed like it was going places, but when circumstances had them splitting up, they both moved on with their lives. Until Joel moves back to town, and Regan is faced with the man she just can't seem to say no to.
I loved the back and forth sexual tension and steamy sex between Regan and Joel. While the plot was really fantastic and the story was set to be a great one, I just didn't love the book as a whole. I feel like there was just too much of everything going on, and that ended up detracting from the story as a whole. Sometimes simpler is better, and the elements of this book could have made up about three different stories I would have loved to read on their own.
Regan and Joel's relationship had a whole lot of drama which seemed to never end, and as a result, I couldn't love their characters much either.
While I was excited for this book and enjoyed reading it as a whole, I just wasn't invested in Regan and Joel.

I am wrecked. An emotional mess. This book really took me through a maze of feelings and I couldn't have predicted going in how much I would love it.
Regan and Joel have history. This is a second chance romance with an added layer and some twists along the way. Regan has walls up and has tried to be strong for a long time, but as the story goes on, she crumbles and then just fights everything, even when it doesn't make sense. At first I didn't think I'd like Joel, he just seemed like a big ol player. And it still bugs me all the girls he was fooling around with. If I could give any complaint, I wish there was a bit more at the end where they deal with that and working together.
I really can't say more without spoiling anything, but if you are looking for an angsty book, with deliciously deviant love scenes, and a fantastic story, this is it.

My first read by Dee Palmer and I really enjoyed this one. It wasn't what I expected. It was better! I fell in love with this story. Not only is it a second chance romance but there are some twist in the story that will have your jaw dropping to the floor and not once either. I love little surprises like this. Dr. Prescott will literally have your panties melting right off. The sexual tension and chemistry between him and Regan is off the charts HOT!!! I look forward to reading more from this author.

A second chance romance with angst and lots of feels. The relationship between Joel and Reagan is tumultuous. Getting over a first love for Reagan was devastating. She could not bring herself to be interested in dating. She devoted herself to her sister's baby and her job. When Joel reappears in her life, she feels that pull they once had, but refuses to allow him back in her heart. Years of anguish and misunderstanding is finally resolved. Is there a HEA? This is my first read by Dee Palmer and if her other books are just as amazing as this one, I will most definitely be reading them. This author told a fast-paced, second chance story with drama, heartbreak, secrets, forgiveness, sexual tension, explosive chemistry, smokin' hot sex, some heart-wrenching moments, healing, family, love, and a HEA.

A second chance romance that hits every spot! An absolute perfect holiday book,wasn't too keen on Joel to start with but by the end absolutely fell in love with him..and Regan,well she was an absolute blast! Love the humour in the book,the hot sex and the passion (not to mention friction) between the two. Quite a few twists and turns that will keep you glued to the pages.A definate 5* for me.

Regan has no time for men or complications, especially in form of Dr. Joel Prescott the smokin' hot doctor, who has in sights set on Regan. Wow this is a hot medical drama where I felt a connection to the characters Joel and Regan. It's a second chance romance that has a very hot but sometimes tragic storyline which will leave you feeling very emotional. Regan doesn't seem to know how to say no to Joel and he knows it.

Wow dee has certainly pulled this one off ..totally deserves to be number 1 best seller for sure. Loved every minute of reading it was very reluctant to put it down. Loved the plot and the characters most of all

If I've said it once I've said it a dozen times, I love Dee Palmer.
Side Effects is fast paced, fun and sexy as hell.
Hard working Regan busts her butt as a nurse during the day and mom at night.
When the only man she's ever loved becomes her boss things are about to get complicated!!
Joel is a pretty good guy despite appearances the man is well worth fighting for not the Regan has to fight, Joel has a pretty tough go of it though.
Throw in a bit of a twist, a life changing shock and some serious chemistry and you have one amazing story on your hands.
Loved it from beginning to end, read in one sitting.

Don't think I could hate this book more. The characters are very superficial and made very little sense in their actions. There were too many plotlines that weren't fleshed out very well and made the book seem "busy" but there really wasn't much happening, or there wasn't enough attention to one story line or focus. There are multiple continuity issues that were too noticeable to ignore.

WTH!!! Spoiler needed to explain the one-star
When I began this book, I was questioning whether the author was really ticked off with women the day she created the MC Joel. I got reeled into the nice guy aspects of him, started to enjoy the book and root for him and Regan almost instantly. Him wanting to meet her child made this a heartfelt read at least for me. Somewhere deep down, I thought he really cared for Regan despite their shaky foundation but sex-filled relationship. Shouldn't known something was off about this story. I digress.
But then, Reagan explained why she didn't want him to meet her child in her thoughts but not to him. Another clue this read was not as it seemed, but I rolled with that. Then, he forces getting in the same room as her child and immediately begins fondling Reagan's lady parts with the child in the same bed as him. GASP!
I understand this is a book, and the author's creation, but if you want others to enjoy it then at least do us a favor and make your creations not perverted while a child is sitting right next to them.
Back to the story, Does Regan punch him in the face immediately and evict dude from her life permanently? Well, I don't know because I was deeply disturbed, pretty sure the author would TRY to find a way to justify this deeply disturbing scene-there is no justification by the way-so I scrolled to end of the book and left this one-star review.
I could get over him choking her during kinky bed play-to each their own- but I draw the line at disrespecting children in real life and fantasy.
Authors, your readers are trying to find a getaway from irritating and sickening reality where things like this really go on. We don't want to get sucked into then spit back out of irritating and sickening fantasy. Where the heck were sane editors and beta readers when you need just one? And somebody tell me what is with the weak-women trend authors are following nowadays. Not a backbone to be seen in books lately and the men are more than aggressive and well, sickening in their pursuit of women. No more new authors. Just no!!!

2.5 Stars!
I liked it but I found many elements weird. I sometimes complain that some stories have too much sex and not enough substance. When I pick up a book that is considered an erotic medical romance. I was expecting some of this but that is not what happened. Instead it was a super heartfelt story with added kink into the story. That was the weird part because the kink didn't feel necessary to the story at all. If anything to me, it took away from the story.
Then there was Reagan. Her hostility and anger didn't quite fit to the story either. It felt out of place. I can see her being hurt yes, but she was too hot and cold. She went from all into pure rage. For someone who was supposed to see the good in everyone and give second chances, this didn't fit. This part irked me a bit but I was able to get over it and continue the story.
There was also a few things that went unanswered to me. It was hot and cold for so long. Then Joel was all in 5 years later. And I mean all in. Felt out of no where. Then to Reagan supposedly he was quite the player but that never got addressed. It got mentioned once with her and Joel then fell away. There was quite a lot of mentions about him with others but not talked about except for Reagan's assumption. Plus they kept their relationship a secret and all of a sudden the are together and we didn't see them in that environment after.

This is one beautifully written second chance love story between Regan and Lincoln. Regan is a one of a kind pediatric nurse raising her daughter, Ruby who is 5 years old and barely making ends meet. She loved once and it did not turn out so well and never thought she would see Dr. Lincoln Prescott again but after their relationship ended the way it did time seems to have handed them a chance to work together. Lincoln is a trust fund baby and a very successful pediatric surgeon and is breaking hearts all over at the hospital. He is even having a good time with Regan again but she keeps to just fun and nothing else. They have a very steamy and all consuming heat between them with a history of hurt that has some secrets that have never seen the light of day! Ruby is a wonderful little girl and she has a health issue that causes Regan’s life to come full circle with the ghost of her sister’s miss deeds. What will Lincoln have to do to prove to Regan what she means to him and that he wants more than a quick romp in the hospital closet? Will their secrets tear them apart and cause revesable damage to Regan? How does the heart heal after all the hurt these two go through? I loved when Regan’s Britishism come out from her childhood! Great storyline and absolutely great characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

If you like doctor/nurse romance then this is a really good story. Its a stand alone romance that ends with a happy ever after. Its also written by Dee Palmer a brand new author for me so I didn't know what to expect.
The first part of the book we meet Dr Joel and he is a manslut though he and Nurse Regan are having sex in a closet but he is also having sex with a lot of other people in said closet and that kinda grossed me out. So this was not my favorite part of the story.
That said he and Regan were in love 6 years before this story starts and she dumped him when he took a job in New Zealand for 5 years. Now he is back at her hospital and he wants her back. This is mostly told in Regan's head and we don't hear from Joel until near the end.
A lot has changed in the last six years. Regan has a daughter and part of the story revolves around just whose daughter is she and I am not spoiling that. It also revolves around Joel wanting Regan to give him a shot again.
After he starts to work to that, he is pretty constant that he wants Regan and we don't see him having fun in the closet again. Which is when I started to root for him and really enjoy the story.
As a new author I really enjoyed this story. Though it was previously released with a different title, Bone.

From the very beginning of this fantastic read I quickly realized I was in for a interesting and wild ride with Joel and Regan. This second chance romance checks all the boxes and took me on a rollercoaster ride like no other. Full of sexual tension, drama, angst, misunderstandings, suspense, humor and passion I was kept guessing how their story would unfold.
Regan and Joel share a past that neither can truly forget but when their paths cross again neither can deny the spark that remains between them. I loved the tension between them and their witty banter had me laughing out loud. I found myself swooning over Joel one moment and in the next wanting to smack some sense into him. I really enjoyed Regan's character and kept rooting for her to get her happily ever after. At one point I was tempted to stop reading when I thought the story was headed in a direction I didn't foresee but then I realized I had to know what would happen next and was left smiling like a loon by the end of the book.
The road to happiness isn't always easy and Regan and Joel's journey will tug at your emotions in the best of ways. This heartwarming and sexy second chance romance is sure to brighten your day and keep you riveted from beginning until end.
