I’ve taken a quasi-intentional break from poetry the last couple months, for a number of reasons, and this volume bore the brunt of that, unfortunately. It’s difficult to reflect after such a long period on the quality of the individual poems, but the Comment section was incredibly useful and meaningful for me. I’ll always be learning my craft, and looking for knew ways to express that growth, and I found a lot here that speaks to those areas I’d like to explore and/or improve.
This issue, guest-edited by Heid E. Erdrich, is devoted to Native Poets. The piece that I’m still thinking about is one of the prose offerings, “Words as Seeds,” by Tanaya Winder.
