A bittersweet, gently satirical collection of fiction set mostly in Winnipeg's Jewish community and Toronto, the stories in Misplaced Love are often tragedies that border on the farcical.
The first half of this collection is full of wonderfully written, beguiling stories. But the second half doesn't quite know what to do with itself. Is it a swerve into Jewish culture in Winnipeg? If it is, it doesn't last very long, as it swerves quickly away from it into other subject matter. The beautiful writing style remains, but I was thrown out of the comfortable groove that the first half of this collection established.
