Michelle Obama: First Lady, Going Higher

Rate this book
A Step 3 biography of esteemed lawyer and former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama!

Michelle Obama is a lot like YOU! She grew up on the South Side of Chicago with her brother, Craig. She rode her bike and played freeze tag with her friends. And she and her family ate dinner together every night!

Michelle's parents taught her to work hard and not let anyone or anything stand in her way. That work ethic has propelled her through her whole life—through her magnet high school, her college years at Princeton, and Harvard Law School. Her parents also taught her to reach back and help others once she found success, evidence of which is everywhere in her work as First Lady of the United States and beyond.

Step 3 Readers feature engaging characters in easy-to-follow plots about popular topics—for children who are ready to read on their own.

Really interesting biography - I'm glad a lot of the First Ladies/founding mothers are getting their own biographies, since they so often do SO MUCH and yet get pushed aside and forgotten. "Yeah, Michelle, you're doing some awesome things, but you're not the President, soooooooo."

Anyway, it was great to learn about Michelle's life before the White House and learn about what her great passions are.

I miss them both so much.

The author did a good job of condensing Michelle Obama's life into a beginning reader. I just wished they had settled on drawings or photos instead of doing a mix.
