This is my kind of suspense book. Not so intense that I'm biting off all my nails and can't go to sleep, but engaging and compelling and has me turning the pages to see what happens next. The pace is swift as Beth and Corbin are on the run, but the author weaves in time for us to get to know the characters, feel a connection to them, and for them to begin connecting to each other. I liked how they had a friendly work relationship before she made her escape, because they had something to build on ...more

Love a nerve-wracking, heart-palpitating start to a romantic suspense and this one is all that and more. It has the kind of opening scene that sends uneasy shivers up and down a reader's spine. Tension and danger and a wary partnership that makes trust seem impossible. Corbin is all too quick to assume Beth's guilt while she has valid reasons for her lack of confidence in law enforcement. Such a delicious tumult of emotions as these two struggle through their issues while trying to stay alive!

It's always an interesting thing to me when an author goes from one genre to another. Sherri Shackelford wrote for Love Inspired Historical, but since that line has closed, she is writing suspense. I think she hit it out of the park with this “debut” novel! Definitely had all the elements I love; plenty of action, thrill-laced adventure, and characters running for their lives.

Beth knows her life is in constant danger being a forensic accountant. Uncovering money schemes can be a deadly trade! T

Shackelford's historical romances were favourites and now her contemporary romantic suspense will be as well. In No Safe Place, we find two wonderful, complex leads, compelling romance, one fantastically suspenseful scene in a corn maze (also mini-donuts) and an HEA with humour and heart. No Safe Place is my first introduction to Sherri Shackelford’s work. Beth Greenwood is a forensic accountant and discovers illegal activities at the company she works for. She realizes her life is in danger and goes on the run. She goes to Corbin Ross, a homeland security agent, for help. As he investigates the events, it seems as though Beth may, also, be involved in illegal activities. How will this affect Beth? Can Corbin be able to clear her name?

I enjoyed No Safe Place. When I read the auth

Having read great historical western romance books by this author, I was pleasantly surprised to see the change of genre’. I love a good mystery; I enjoy a special ops type story; and, I always look forward to some romance with an HEA. This story-line contains all that any more. Beth is a forensic accountant who is caught up in the middle of a money laundering plot and her life changes. Having been raised by her Dad, the policeman with high ethics, she tries to get the information to the FBI and ...more

I loved reading this story. She did a great a job job going from love inspired historical to love inspired suspense. I loved the story of Beth and Corbin. It was neat how they used a certain field of accounting to create a story. It was full of action and it was fast paced. I loved the way Sherri draws you into the story. I'm looking forward to more stories by her.

SQEEE!!!  A new author to me in one of my all-time favorite lines by Harlequin.  Yes, I read the Love Inspired Romantic Suspense line.  Surprised?  You shouldn't be.  Romantic Suspense is my favorite thing to read.  I cut my teeth on the genre.  Thanks, Mom.  Anyway, let me tell the ways I just fell in total love with Corbin and Beth.

Both of them are lonely people.  Beth has lost her only parent and doesn't really participate in life much anymore.  Work, left all of friends, church everything d

I’m always intrigued by authors who write in multiple genres, and with No Safe Place, Sherri Shackelford is stepping into the romantic suspense genre (from historical romance). And what a switch it is!

Beth Greenwood is a forensic accountant who is about to go on the lam once she turns evidence of money laundering in to the FBI. Corbin Ross has been keeping a suspicious eye on Beth the past couple of weeks and knows something is about to go down.

As the two of them escape an attack on Beth and go

No Safe Place has a fantastic blend of clean romance and intense suspense, with the strong elements of mystery balancing the fragile feelings developing between forensic accountant Beth Greenwood and homeland security agent Corbin Ross.
I love the Love Inspired Historical romances Sherri Shackelford has written and got immensely excited when I saw that she has written romantic suspense as well. Her characters always have such depth, they are well developed, they are people you want to spend time

My husband is an accountant so I was anxious to read this book about an accountant! However, he isn't a forensic accountant so he doesn't do anything like Beth in this story but I very much enjoyed Beth's character! As stated by others, the author has been writing historical romance but this is her first romantic suspense and it's fantastic! There is so much action and attention to detail that I felt I was right in the story alongside Beth and Corbin as things were happening! I kept wanting to y ...more

This is the debut novel in a different genre for this author. Excellent job. I loved the page turning suspense and the push-pull of the romance. Beth Greenwood was just doing her job but it put her in danger and to top it off, Corbin, the attractive co-worker, suspects her of criminal dealings. I liked that Beth was smart and determined to do the right thing. Poor Corbin. He was attracted to Beth even though he believed she was a criminal. He too, was determined to do the right thing and it put ...more

This is the author's first book within LI contemporary suspense. Since I'm familiar with her historicals and not a regular reader of mystery/suspense, I've taken the leap with her and it was quite the enjoyable one. The characters were wonderful and the plot felt original and unique. I really liked the somewhat atypical hero within this genre - a cyber specialist with Homeland Security. Although, as a military vet he still had the skills to help while trying to circumvent some of their

No Safe Place is enjoyable and had many intense suspenseful moments. There was also well-written romantic tension between Beth and Corbin. Beth is on the run from those who want to keep her silent. She is very detail oriented, but because of that she is a suspect in the money laundering scheme. Corbin is a homeland security agent who is there to protect her, but can he trust her? Together they are running until the answers come together.

Fast paced with plenty of action, No Safe Place was a rather quick read for me. I finished the whole book in just two sittings and in less than a day. It quickly grasped my attention and held me until the end.
Something I wasn’t expecting about the story was that it really wasn’t about figuring out the details of the money-laundering scheme. It was about Corbin and Beth’s time on the run trying to escape a group of dangerous men while waiting for information to be received by the FBI.

Beth Greenwood is a forensic accountant, when she uncovers a money laundering scheme and her mentor goes to the authorities with the information that she uncovered, her mentor is killed. She knows that she needs to go into hiding, but she is scared to go to the Feds because of what happened to her mentor, and on top of that she looks suspicious because she ran, and she doesn't have the evidence to prove her innocence.

Corbin Ross is a Homeland Security Agent, he doesn't want to suspect Beth, but

Corbin didn’t even realize he resembled Clark Kent, with his ice-blue eyes, dark hair, and glasses. It was enough that the women in the office nicknamed him Clark and even accidentally called him that. He thought they just forgot his name.

Sprinkling just enough wit throughout the story to keep it from being overly suspenseful, author Sherri Shackelford has Corbin and Beth fleeing from one place to another in an attempt to elude their pursuers. She provided just enough clues

Wow, I love this author’s historical stories but I hadn’t read her suspense stories before and I loved this story. This has a lot of suspense and a lot of action involved. I love the hero and the heroine in this story and of course the outcome.
Some funny stuff is discovered by our heroine but it puts her in danger.
A co-worker ends up helping her out when he hers her scream on the top level of the parking garage and barely reaches her in time. They escape too bad dudes but are afraid they will s

If you are looking for an adrenaline-laced, romantic suspense to start off your reading new year, then you need to check out No Safe Place by Sherri Shackelford! This book has it all — engaging characters, danger and intrigue aplenty, and romantic sparks. Staid forensic accountant Beth and hunky superhero Corbin team up to outwit and outrun the bad guys. Cyber crime and terrorism keep this novel relevant and plausible. Plus the chemistry between the two is sweet and sassy. I figured a few things ...more

What fun! No Safe Place by Sherri Shackelford gives readers a quick, suspenseful (and romantic!) read, and I quite enjoyed it.

Forensic accountant (yay!) Beth Greenwood uncovers some dangerous corporate information and must run for her life. Her Superman-esque coworker Corbin Ross ends up along for the ride, but the pair must stay suspicious—including of one another. Costly secrets, imposing mercenaries, and a mysterious email keep the thrill alive as Beth and Corbin handle the complicated situat
