Warm, sassy, and delightfully entertaining!

The Heat is On is an adorable tale that takes us back to The Mercury Travel Club and into the lives of Angie Shepherd and her gregarious gang of friends as they take on a competitor who's nefarious and ruthless and a new business endeavour that may be just beyond their reach.

The writing is witty and light. The characters are loyal, genuine, and dependable. And the plot is a splendid tale about life, love, friendship, heartfelt moments, hilarious hijinks

Now when I saw that the second Mercury Travel Club book was being released I thought yay! then oh no! because that meant that this lovely bunch of people were going to face major problems again and boy was I right! I did see how the gang were getting on at first, in fact they were looking to actually buy a hotel but things went down hill rapidly when competition moved in across the street in the form of slime ball Lorenzo.
This is a super book to get you into the holiday season mood as it dangled

Just the kind of book you need on a warm night outside lounging on a deck chair with a glass of something bubbly in your hand. The Mercury Travel club was a fun read and now they’re back on more travels but this time with bumps in the road. A rival travel agency has set up shop and problems ensue. That’s the simple version of the plot but thanks to Helen’s writing, there’s a lot more to enjoy and it’s the characters which shine the most. There’s some nice location

Angie Shepherd and her wonderful, crazy friends are back in THE HEAT IS ON by Helen Bridgett and boy did I miss them!

After all that has happened to her over the past few years, Angie Shepherd's life is finally back on track with a successful career that she loves, friends that are worth cherishing, a new home on the horizon, and a lovely man to cuddle up with. Things are finally on the up. That is until they aren't. When a new travel agency opens their doors across the road from Mercury Travel,

Thanks to Netgalley for my copy.

The Mercury Travel Club are back with even more shenanigans as a rival travel agency opens up across the road. They offer deep discounts and modern technology. Can our cast of characters hold on to their business?

This is a fun filled story of friendship, loyalty, dating perils and life in general. I would have loved more of Angie's mum and her penchant for freebies.

This is the second book in this series, it see’s the return of Angie and her band of co-workers Charles and Josie, her larger than life friend Patty with their various partners. The arrival and opening of a rival shop causes some moments of panic as the new owner uses less than friendly tactics to lure in customers.

I was so glad to see the return of this totally mad cap bunch, they are a fun and caring group that put their customers first. Although this could be read as a stand alone you will ge

The Blurb :
The sequel to The Mercury Club sees Angie successfully running the business with Charlie and Patty. She is in a relationship with Michael and everything is going well. Charlie returns from a Caribbean holiday with exciting plans to take over a hotel out there - a new but risky venture for Mercury. It all seems perfectly possible, until a rival travel club opens up over the road, and threatens their livelihood and the future of the business. Launch is run by Lorenzo, a smarmy young man

In this follow up to The Mercury Travel Club we rejoin Angie and friends at the point where the sky's the limit for their quirky little Manchester based travel agency. The award winning travel agency is firmly established in the high street and they have plans to invest in a luxury hotel in an exclusive resort. It seems like everything is going right until the vacant shop across the road is revealed as 'Launch', another travel agency and the high street is only big enough for one of them.

I was a big fan of the first outing for The Mercury Travel Club, so I couldn't wait to get back to Angie, Patty and co. As with most books in a series, it took me just a little bit of time to remind myself who everyone was and what had happened before but I was soon settled in and loving being back with these engaging characters.

So, Angie and Charlie are running their travel business and doing a grand job of it with the help of Josie, who comes up with all sorts of ways of getting people signed

The Heat is On is the sequel to The Mercury Travel Club. Now I haven't read The Mercury Travel Club, but this was not a problem as the author has woven enough information into this story for the reader to understand the important points from the first book. The Heat is On follows Angie and her good friends Patty and Charlie as her beloved travel agency faces stiff competition from a rival opening just across the road. They need to find a new unique selling point, a new 'next big thing' if they a ...more

Mercury Travel has successfully been selling holidays for many years ran by Charlie, Patty and Angie. Holidays not for the masses but for discerning clients wanting that something a little bit different. When Charlie visit a resort and see the uniqueness of it and a business opportunity presents itself, it appears that Mercury could have a buy in to an extended part of their business. The trouble is that a rival has opened his doors across the road and is being rather underhand about how he is g ...more

This is a second book of a series. I hadn't't read the first book but enjoyed this as a stand-alone book.

Angie is one of the partners of a successful travel agency- Mercury Travel. They accompany their customers on their travels and have enjoyed every success.
They are about to enter into a financial arrangement with the bank to run an island resort which will offer weddings and special events. All is going well until a new travel agency- Launch- sets up virtually opposite.
Launch is undercutting

I am reviewing this book for Helen Bridgett, and NetGalley who gave me a copy of their book for an honest review.
Never read a book set in a travel agency so it was interesting to see how they work. An easy-to-read, feel-good chick lit book. Perfect to wile away a few hours. Not read the previous book but that didn’t hamper the enjoyment of this one
