A World Unimagined, edited by Karen T. Newman

A meaty collection of 18 speculative fiction pieces offering something for every reader. I particularly liked the international feel of the piece. Each author’s country is listed in the table of contents. The stories are all very well written. Here are a few of the stories “exploding the boundaries of your imagination” that I enjoyed:

When well written, fiction stirs the imagination, and often contains more truth than the most assiduously researched piece of nonfiction. Science fiction asks the reader to suspend disbelief and believe in worlds that exist only in the imagination. A World Unimagined, edited by Karen T. As a contributor, I won't rate this book. I will say that it has some amazing science-fiction stories in it that are ideal for summer reading. There are a few genre-blurs in here as well, including my own "Solomon's Key" which blends fantasy elements with sf into a post-apocalyptic noir. Mike Hultquist's "Sickly Sweet" is one of the best horror stories I've read in a while (which is saying something), and G. Lloyd Helm's "The Other Fellow's Shoes" takes place at the intersection of technology an ...more
