What do you do when you share a body with your twin sister, and you want to go on tour with your band? Why kidnap her of course.
My name is Ruby and I rule the night, my sister Jade has our body during the day. You got to hear her side of the story already, so now hold on to your hats, because it’s time for mine. It’s a lot more fun, and wild than her’s.
Reverse Harem Trigger warning contains violent situations. Intended for audience 18+ Language and sexual situations
As readers should know that book 1 is written in Jade's POV and book 2 is written by Ruby's POV, in other words, those are written as journals. Must read book 1 in order to understand what's happening in book 2. Ruby is best described as the wild one whereas Jade is the more reserved type. I was super excited to have had the chance of reading all of Ruby's POV meaning it was more fast paced than Jade's because Ruby isn't the writing type or the express my feelings type, she's a doer and takes no shit. In my opinion, both Jade and Ruby are slowly rubbing off of each other. It feels that Ruby is indeed growing slowly emotion wise, she is slowly discovering that are there more to being in romantic relationships as opposed to just sex and having a good time, it's about communicating and acknowledging others' feelings in the relationship. After reading the epilogue though, I am really looking forward to continuing this series starting with book 3. (I received an ARC in order to review.)
Review copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for a honest review Earlier this year , Bell introduced us to her very unique pair of heroines. Day and night , Jade and Ruby were. Whilst Jade got the starring role probably much to Ruby dismay in the first book Becoming Ruby. Ruby isn’t going to let things go on without her take on things. Ruby isn’t afraid and she more than ready to let loose how things really happened. As much as the first book was great, there was an obvious thing missing. Bell did deliver a solid debut but you had to think what about Ruby. As Ruby was the wild child, more ready to party and have a good time. She was the one who simply didn’t think about tomorrow at times . She lives in the now, much to Jade’ s dismay at times. Ruby wanted to be the star and now that is her turn. It didn’t disappoint. Bell has an unique pair of twins here and whilst we got to meet Ruby from Jade’s POV. Ruby obviously has a different POV on the world in front of them. Whilst Jade provided us with most of the details, Ruby’s take on the events presents us with smaller details that allows the story at hand become more richer and allows readers to become familiar with her on a more personal level. Letting readers into her life as she embarks on tour and living the lifestyle of a rock star. Bell was smart to give readers this book , as whilst it was there to fill the blanks. It also allowed to get to know other characters who had a role in this story so far. Adding to the story at hand whilst allowing this unique pair of twins truly win readers hearts individually though Ruby did already have a firm grasp. Being Ruby is an addition that is need despite preconceptions. It’s the same story from another POV. As these twins aren’t done by a long mile and their story is still to be told. It’s intriguing and cleverly written to give what you expect but Ruby’s way.
In the off chance, you haven't read Book 1 of the series, this is not a stand-alone book!!
The story is about 2 sisters living in the same body. One is a witch, Jade, who is out from dawn to dusk, the other is a vampire, Ruby, who comes out from dusk to dawn. Book 1, 'Becoming Ruby' was told from Jade's pov, while this book covers the same timeline only from Ruby's pov. So this 2nd book shows you scenes that you missed and from a different perspective.
I like the fact that we finally get to see what went on when Jade wasn't in control, and that we got to learn a little more about Ruby's personality first hand rather than by what her sister thinks of her. She is a pull no punches type of girl, who is more blunt and wilder than her sister. You also get to see how they are starting to understand each other a little better and see the differences in the way they handle situations.
This book is very fast paced and I wish it could've been a little longer and didn't feel so rushed, especially at the beginning. Book 2 also has less grammatical errors than book 1. Overall, with the way both books ended, I can't wait for the 3rd!
**I did receive this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
This book was really good! It tells the story from Ruby's point of view and I feel it was much more fast paced. It shows how Jade and Ruby are slowly rubbing off on each other and how Ruby is beginning to see that there is much more to a relationship than just the physical side of it. It is great to get to know how they both work and think from reading both books and I'm looking forward to reading the next book which sounds interesting.
This book is really different from others that I have read and I'm really enjoying it. I also feel that both souls have something that you can relate to and see a bit of you in them.
If you have not read the first book in the series you really need to do this as Being Ruby is not a standalone.
This is the follow up to book one and was told from Ruby’s point of view. It tells the same story as book one but told from Ruby’s point of view, and it’s awesome to read the other side of the coin, the girls are so incredibly different from one another.
This is so well written, I love Ruby’s sass and backbone. I am very excited for book three I thoroughly enjoyed this book
To understand Being Ruby you really should read the first book Becoming Ruby. Being Ruby gives you Ruby's point of view as intended and fills in the gaps that Jade can't answer in book one. You truly see the personality difference between them emphasizing how they really are different souls in the same body. Ruby is crass, selfish and reckless to an extent. But throughout the book you see how her relationship with the guys grows and how it in turn helps her grow. She confuses Jade in the first book, but when you understand exactly what she did, you see she didn't really do much but be herself. I love the duel natures that both girls display as they compliment each other well. By the end of both books you see how both girls have grown and adapted after everything they've been through. I love that the 4 men adjusted to their unique situation and fully support both women. I would love to give better details, but no spoilers. You'll have to read the books to understand and I can't wait to read the next one!
***If you haven’t read ‘Becoming Ruby’ read that first***
Wow this book was amazing. It was fast paced and well written. This was written in Ruby’s POV and mirrors the first book in sequence. It does not make you feel like you’re just reading the same book over again though. It shows you what it was like for the wild ruthless Ruby, who thought she was untouchable. It gives you more insight into how she views Jade and the men in her band. I couldn’t put the book down. I can’t wait for the next installment in this series!
I loved this book. I would definitely suggest reading Becoming Ruby first though. This book tells the story of Ruby's side of things. I like how this is written. I have never read a book from the point of view of 2 souls sharing the same body and it is very entertaining. It has kept my interest and I like hearing both Jade and Ruby's points of views. Each character is so different. Thoroughly entertaining read. I definitely can not wait to find out what happens next with Ruby and her guys, but also if Jade gets her own harem as well.
Wow I liked ruby's side she sure is a spitfire lol. It's really interesting the concept of two people in one body. It's got to be hard on the guys. Like what if they decided to get married would all of the guys move in and they would always be ok with the fact that she is one body 2souls? so many questions but the book is awesome
Hmm what can I say about this book? Well I’ll say this about it and that is it’s awesome! It’s a little different than Becoming Ruby was but it’s still awesome. It’s pretty fast paced so I was finished reading it pretty quickly but this book showed Ruby’s side and her personality which is way different than Jade’s. Ruby is really the wild one compared to Jade who is more mellow. I definitely can not wait for the next book because I have to know what happens to Jade, Ruby and their father. Yes I most definitely recommend this book for anyone who’s interested in crawling into this story and getting lost within its pages. But if you haven’t read Becoming Ruby you might want to that way there’s no confusion on who’s who and so forth.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint either.
In this book, we get the same story but from Ruby’s perspective. This author did a really good job of creating two very distinct and authentic characters.
I am glad to hear things from Ruby's point of view now. Not quite as eloquent as Jade's telling but she seems like a "keep it simple stupid" kind of gal so it's ok. It made the whole difference in the characters seem super real and now that we have heard from both girls I need more!
This book goes through the events of book 1 but from Jade's sister Ruby's point of view. It was fun to get to know Ruby better and the different dynamic she has with the guys. I can't wait to read the next book.
I struggled a little bit with this book in the beginning. It seemed to go quickly but not give a lot of new content. After speaking with some other readers, I found out the first two books in the series were a journal type format, it made more sense as to why there wasn’t a whole lot of details. Overall, i like the storyline. You get a feel for who Ruby thinks she is and what’s she’s becoming. Maybe Jade and Ruby aren’t so different after all. So I’m looking forward to the next book to see how it progresses.
Book 2 in the Soul Twins series did not disappoint. Hearing the story from Ruby's POV was fun. Ruby is blunt, confident, & selfish in the best way. I like that we also got to see some growth from Ruby by theend of the book. It was interesting to see the author tell the same story, but clearly narrate it from 2 different characters perspectives. ImThis is a must read and I need to know what happens after the epilogue!
In this book we learn about Ruby and her take on her shared life with Jade. Her story is very different and I enjoyed getting her take in things. She is a much more wild character. She's alot of fun. I'm looking forward to the next book. Especially after the surprise at the end.
Another good book to this series. To understand this story you must read book 1. This book fills in the gaps from first book. Have to say that I love this series so far. Didn't think I would at first but I do. Completely different from other books I have read. Author is doing a fantastic job writing this. I'm looking forward to what comes next.
As bad as I wanted to love this book like I did the first one I was not able to. The way the first book was written you did not feel like part of the story was missing. In this book you get a sense that something is missing. This was my worry with this type of plot, the first book was written with enough detail and plot to keep you going, and even know this book is the same timeline and sequences as the first book I now believe that these would have been better written as one complete Book instead of 2. With each sisters POV going chapter by chapter. Now I did not read these books back to back, it has been some time between them so that might be part of the reason I am feeling like this. Overall I love the story line I love the plot I love the twists and turns this author can make and generally they come off smoothly. In book 1 the characters are very well defined each one with its own personality, and book 2 I do not feel they are as defined with the exception of Ruby. I love her snarky attitude. So my overall thoughts for the book it's a good read if reading them back to back so my review will be a 4 out of 5 stars.
*You should only read this book if you have read the first one as this is not a stand-alone novel!*
I was so excited to finally be able to read from Ruby’s point of view! And the book did not disappoint!
The book mirrors the story of the first but it’s a completely different experience reading it from Ruby’s perspective, “filling the gaps” from the first book and seeing how Ruby experienced the events!
The book is more fast paced and it gives you an insight into Ruby’s personality. Throughout the book it is possible to see that the sisters are rubbing off on each other’s personality!
I adore this series. I feel in love with the snarkiness that is Ruby, but we only got to experience her via Jade in the first book. We get the full Ruby treatment in this book. This is basically the, 'Rudy's side of the story' ... it gets a bit more intense because of some of the events from the first book and Rudy being Ruby and rubbing certain characters the wrong way.
I can't wait to continue the story for these very unique and different twins. And FELIX! We finally get to meet Felix while he's awake.
Being Ruby is book two in the Soul Twins series. And if you enjoyed book one, prepare for book two! It was freaking awesome. Everything is from Ruby's POV and proved to be just as entertaining as i was imagining it would be. Ruby is funny, confident and very out spoken. It is interesting to see the same story but told in a different perspective. Definitely a different kind of book but in a good way. If you are looking for a good paranormal story, give this series a try. It promises to be a good one.
Wow 😮 I loved this book 📖 as told from Ruby side , she is a kick arsing , speak your mind , seductress , Beautiful vampire 🧛♀️ who captivates you from beginning to end in this book 📖. Out of the two sisters she is the trouble maker and Jade is sensible little witch 🧙♀️ kidnapping her at night so she can’t argue about going on tour with her band ...made me chuckle and laugh out loud 😂 also got frustrated and then cried happy 😃 tears 😭 this book 📖 is Defo worth a read 😊
In my review for Becoming Ruby, I said that I wished we had more of Ruby's point of view. It seemed like half of the story was missing. Well, Being Ruby is the same story as Becoming Ruby, but through Ruby's eyes. Reading Ruby's account of the events helps to piece together the story better, and makes the reader understand Ruby's motivations. It's also great to see the two sisters grow and become more alike through this book. Great story!
I loved Being Ruby. We got to see Ruby through Jade's eyes, but getting to Ruby through her own telling of her story was very eye opening. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like Ruby, but I loved seeing some growth in her and in the end you realize she really isn't a bad person. I loved learning about the guys through Ruby's eyes and we finally get to meet Felix! I can't wait to read more about Jade, Ruby, and their dad in the next book!
I hate giving bad reviews but I really couldn't stand this book. And the whole reason was Ruby! She's absolutely awful. I didn't like her in the first book but I thought I'd give her a chance. All I can say is no thanks. I'll read the next Jade version of the story but I think I'll skip anything more from Ruby.
The same story but from a different perspective. In the first book I didn't think I liked Ruby. But seeing things from her point of view changes the whole thing. If you like a hot little RH stories this one won't let you down.
Ruby is the worst!!! I just can't get over how she hates her sister! They have never even technically met each other. They don't communicate mentally or in a dream world or anything! I'm haven't finished book 2 yet. I just had to vent about that rude, conceited hag, Ruby!
