Scarlett the Sloth is about to surprise everyone in the forest when she solves the mysterious disappearance of Mr. Cuddles.
Scarlett the Sloth loves to sleep, but today someone is making a racket under her tree. What’s all the noise about? Bo Bo the Capuchin Monkey is crying—his favorite teddy bear, Mr. Cuddles, is missing!
Scarlett wants to find Mr. Cuddles, but no one thinks that she can. “Sloths are good at eating and snoozing and not much more,” the forest animals tell her. And Scarlett thinks that they might be right.
Scarlett surprises everyone, including herself, when she discovers sloths are good for eating and sleeping—and so much more !
What a delightful book. I received this as a gift and so enjoyed that I have passed on to my neighbor. It is one of her daughter's (Lily) favorite books.
I am biased as I am the author. Scarlett reminded me, never to judge one's abilities based on their appearance. She may look lazy and spend much of her day high in the treetops snoozing the day away, but when her friend needs her to help solve a problem she is the exact right girl for the job. Give it a read and tell me what you think!
I got 2 copies of this book- one for each of my nieces. They both loved the story and the colorful illustrations. They are both learning readers who adore animals, so they have been totally engaged, and are excited when it's time for a re-read.
I would definitely recommend for little boys or girls- positive message, cute story, great pictures. What's not to love?
* Not every picture book reports on a treasure hunt. * Among treasure hunts that I've known, none has ever aimed to find the treasure known as "Mr. Cuddles." * But such a treat and treasure is the topic of "Scarlett" by Risa Beckett.
You could call this a self-esteem book, for those who are sloths.
FIVE STARS for readers who would find that this book delivers a thrilling adventure.
