I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This is a great book for young adult readers who want to learn about psychology or are thinking of doing psychology.
The book has some great tests for you to do to find out more about yourself and understand yourself more. The end of the book has more information about the types of psychology and other useful information to read about psychology too.

This is a fun book for kids who like to take those data-mining Facebook quizzes to find out what kind of (fill in the blank) they are or who want to learn more about how psychologists use tests to measure personality, intelligence, creativity, etc. It features 20 light quizzes, though they are a little lacking compared to proper psychological tests, to say the least.
My mother got her masters and phD in psychology and became a psychologist and psychology professor while I was growing up, so I was the guinea pig for several thousand tests of all types over the years for her, her friends and eventually her students. As such, I probably have a little higher expectation for this children's book. It does provide some basic information, but I would consider it more for fun than actual education. That said, kids will no doubt have lots of fun determining what kind of meal they'd be, figuring out spacial puzzles, and otherwise playing with these quizzes. It does provide some basic information about how psychologists use these tests, what kind of career they'd be suited for based on their personalities, and so on.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

This book introduces a lot of quizzes, some of them are scientific, others are simple like what type of food are you, but still gives you a somewhat scientific detailing of what your answer says about you.
I think I would've loved it more a couple of years ago when I was invested in these types of quizzes, but it was fun answering each quiz and reading the analysis of my answers.

Authors Alice Harman and Blok Magnaye have compiled a set of psychological tests for young adults to explore their personalities and minds. They've combined facts with actual sample tests to introduce psychology to readers. Well written easy to follow language takes readers through various theories starting with the Ancient Greek Humors and brings them to modern theories on intelligence, personality traits and creativity. Throughout the book, the authors also remind readers that these are sample tests to make them think and explore further.
A glossary and further explanation of different psychology fields is included at the end.

This was available as a read now option, so I thought I'd give it a go.
The quizzes threw me back to childhood, when you got them in magazines, so they were definitely young for me, but fun nevertheless, and definitely more professional and scientific in the approach.
I found that some of the pages that you needed to read across, didn't work out because of the tablet form.
Some of the responses to the multiple choice questions were savage... "study by myself in the library, rather than go to class so I don't have to put up with other student's stupid questions and behaviour."... I mean this is what I do but damn. That's fierce!
It did get kind of boring after a while and this resulted in me swapping it out for a different lunch time read book, but this left me reluctant to pick it up often. I think it is because there were just too many quizzes... I understand the intention is maybe not to try and read this all cover to cover, because that would lose the attention span of the intended target audience (and myself, as we have just said), but I do think, for what seems to be marketed as a more introductory book on this topic, it seems a little overwhelming.
I thought I'd include my results for the tests!

Hmmm… I hoped for some really compelling psychological studies in this book, for us to self-analyse through questionnaire, in a way that would also affirm our place in the world (this is for schoolchildren, after all). It all started off by being reassuring about how these things can work and how they can't – and then threw us into two failed experiments, that (a) mentioned Hogwarts houses (yawn) and then (b) barely registered that I am actually an Earth sign – the results seemed to think this Virgo was a Water sign. So from that you can surmise that the tests don't work, and the book ("we're all serious about this, this has been done by experts for centuries – now are you griffinpuff or germolene??!!") doesn't either.
Things do improve – we get a version of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator dressed up with animals as results – although it surely says a lot about someone's personality when they allowed it to be presented in such a peculiar order across several non-consecutive pages. But that's not permanent – next I was exactly half square, half triangle (don't ask), and so on, as I'm sure you want to know more about the volume than me. Well, it's pleasant, and interesting – it does often allow itself to be correct and educative, then falls between the cracks, and a lot of the survey results are dressed up so vaguely you might as well be reading a tabloid's horoscope. Just as a lot of psychological reckonings would actually leave the subject somewhere in the middle of a sliding scale, this very easily varies in its position on the scale marked quality. The illustrations are right near the bottom, however, so perhaps this is closer to a 2 stars from me – but it's not as worthless as that generally implies. Frustrating.

While you are sitting at home with your kids, this might be a fun book. It is filled with personality quizzes. Maybe understanding ourselves will help us to cope. Maybe it is just fun to do personality tests. Either way, or for any other reason, this title is worth a look. While this book is geared toward kids I think it can be explored by those of different ages. Adults can still probably remember how they would have answered these questions as children.
The book has a number of chapters including, for example, A Brief History of Personality, Personality Types, Personality Traits, Aspects of Personality, Creativity, Understanding the Unconscious and more. And, of course, there are the quizzes and answers.

This was an interesting look into personality and intelligence tests for young readers who love to complete quizzes online and in magazines.
The 'tests' were introduced with a bit of their history and origins to help a reader to understand what they were about, then the test was well laid out in an easy to read format with the results on a separate page...I wasn't even tempted to look to give the answers I needed to get the answer I wanted as I would have in a magazine!
Despite studying psychology there were a number of tests I hadn't come across and the book ended with places an interested reader could find out more online or in books.
The book was brightly illustrated with lots of bold, simple pictures with an easy to read font.

An interesting book about psychology for kids, featuring different tests to help them learn about different facets of personality, such as types, traits, and aspects, as well as intelligence, creativity, the unconscious mind, and more. The quizzes are fun, and serve to exemplify the subject matter of each section, and the accompanying illustrations are colorful and engaging. While the quizzes are rather a one-shot deal, there's enough information on psychology to make this book a keeper for children who are interested in the subject; this may be better suited to a school, classroom, or public library for the most part however. Most of the quizzes are non-competitive (by which I mean they're the "no right or wrong answer" type), and would make for fun group activities.

Who doesn't like this nice tests in magazines and the quizzes you can do at Facebook.
But how do they work, what is behind all this stuff. And who do you feel , when you get results that you may not like.
Especially when you are a teen and have a fragile psych. So this book can help bring some light and answer some questions and it is fun to read with a group of teen girls ( I tried ;))

This is supposed to be fun, but it mostly felt confusing. It was hard to track down the answers and score tests, the color of the pages was too dark to read the text, and doing that many personality tests just made me feel unsettled.

I remembered I had this while cleaning out my bookshelf. The test inside were actually pretty accurate and fun. The answers I got reflected the ones I got in my personality assessment course so there’s that. I think it’s a fun little book for people interested in personality psych :)

A quick read, geared for high schoolers which I didn’t realize at first. Fun quizzes, some of which are completely wacky, which they acknowledge. Still fun!
