This was not a woman who took tea. This was a woman who took the sun.

I know we're not supposed to play favorites. I know I'm supposed to love all my books equally. But I really really love this one, you guys. It's so close to my heart.

An incomplete list of the reasons why:

* Hattie: A smart, savvy, curvy girl with a talent for knots, who refuses to give up on her dreams simply because the whole world tells her she can't have them. She's got a five point plan to claim herself, her business, and her future.

* A grunty Beast of a hero, who is both a bareknuckle brui

How many times can this book say the word ‘plan’ in it’s description?

Seven. Seven times.
Obviously, I host Fated Mates with Sarah, so I'm hardly an impartial reader. BUT. BUT. BUT.

This book is fucking great. I loved everything about it, especially Hattie. Her determination to prove herself worthy of inheriting her father's company even though she's a woman is such a great plot arc. And even though Whit respects her dream, I loved that she does not wait around for him to give her permission to do what she thought was right.

Whit is a delightful hero. I am ALL ABOUT a romance hero wh

This was absolute perfection.
Full review to come.
Sheer and utter perfection. I am here for #yearofhattie, Carrick bend knots used for sexy reasons (OMG JUST WAIT), and Beast, oh Beast.

MacLean has done it again and I cannot wait for everyone to read this book. Full review to come closer to the publication date.

Thank you to the publisher for the advanced reading copy!

This might now be my favorite of Sarah MacLean's books, and that's saying a lot, since I absolutely adore her books. It's so well-written, so complete, such an altogether consuming story that it is absolutely and entirely satisfying. Swoon.

Oh yum!!!! I really loved Wicked and the Wallflower, so much so that I reread it before starting this. And as lovely and marvelous as that book was, Brazen and the Beast was even better. Whit is absolutely everything and Hattie!!!! I love her bold, brilliant mind and her passion. It’s incredible.

Super steamy, emotional, series characters

There is a lot to love in Brazen and the Beast, so let us start there.

Hattie is a five star character, for me, 100%. The tale starts with her venturing into what she calls 'The Year of Hattie'. The year she thoroughly takes control of her own life, starting with an extremely bold move to make her self un-marriageable. I adored her from the very beginning. She's not a standard beauty and has some insecure moments because of that but those moments are balanced with so many more moments o

Yes, this is another gem from the brilliant Sarah MacLean. This book has 400 pages but I was turning pages at warp speed to find out what would happen next. Hattie is a woman whose ideas are ahead of her time but she is intelligent, feisty and determined that she will take over her father's business as opposed to her near-do-well brother. Beast is already in charge of his kingdom by the Themes along with his brother Devil. There are villains but an especially evil one who adds to the danger for ...more

Henrietta Sedley wants to inherit her father's shipping business. She deserves to inherit it. However, Henrietta Sedley is a woman, so her brother August will be the one to take over the company. Hattie won't stand for that. She embarks on the year of Hattie to claim the things she wants - body, business, home, fortune, future. Unfortunately, her idiot brother has angered the local gang, The Barenuckle Bastards. Hattie intervenes and finds herself caught up with Beast.

This! This right here is the kind of story I love! From the very first page, I was immediately pulled into this detailed and inviting world and I adored the characters. It was so entertaining with excellent dialogue and banter. Fantastic read!

It's perfect. I can't even.

(Also, still SO EXCITED for it to release for real because I need the teaser for book three.)

The second entry in Sarah MacLean's Bareknuckle Bastards series is a delightful romp, full of adventure and passion. Hattie is bright, ambitious, and determined to take charge of her life at the age of twenty-nine, including convincing her father to let her take over the family shipping business. Whit, known in Covent Garden as Beast, is a man of few words, who will do anything to protect his siblings and his smuggling business. The two of them get tangled professionally and personally, and Whit ...more

I am a sucker for a wounded but dangerous hero and a strong heroine who fights for what she wants. Sarah MacLean got this hero/heroine combo just right.
My fault for not realizing this is in the Bareknuckle Bastards series, which I find emotionally heavy and I need to be in the right headspace to read.

Hattie was a character I connected with. I enjoyed how she went toe-to-toe with mean brutes (including Whit) but the rest of the story just wasn't for me.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via Netgalley for review consideration.

Loved this. Sarah Maclean is back on form, the second book in her Bareknuckle Bastards series is really entertaining and romantic read. I found book 2 much more engaging than book 1.

Hattie is the daughter of a successful businessman, who has earned himself an earldom. Used to working with her father from an early age, Hattie desperately wants to be the heir to her father’s shipping empire, not her feckless brother. Unfortunately her father doesn’t feel that a woman can successfully wield enough
“There is nothing fearless about me. I am scared every day. I fear the wide world and the way it stares at me and sneers at me and whispers about me when it thinks I cannot hear. I fear a life of half measures, full of shadows of emotions and hints of possibilities and a thousand things I might have had if only I’d reached a bit farther.”

I credit Sarah MacLean (by way of Book Riot) with my giving the romance genre a chance and not being disappointed in the slightest. Years ago when I started rea

I am writing this review from beyond the grave. Because Brazen and the Beast is so good that it killed me. I'm still marinating in my thoughts and feelings but I am very tempted to say that this book might be Sarah MacLean's best work yet.

The heroine of this book is simply phenomenal. Hattie is everything. There are some truly fabulous books of out there featuring strong, body-confident plus-sized heroines. And that's glorious. That's so needed. But let's be honest. We don't all feel that way. A

Thank you to HarperCollins and NetGalley for giving me this opportunity to read this eArc.

Whenever I want to read a historical romance novel there are only a handful of authors I turn to, one of them being Sarah MacLean. Her books always come through for me, ticking every box I need in a historical romance: humor, delicious banter and sex, and of course, a happy ending.

Book two of the Bareknuckle Bastards series definitely came through on all the things I love in a romance novel. An

Brazen and the Beast continues Sarah MacLean's Bareknuckle Bastard series, and the two main characters are Hattie Selby, the daughter of an earl famous for his shipping company, and Beast, one of the rulers of Covent Garden. Beast and Hattie meet when Beast is knocked unconscious and stuffed into the Selby family carriage, which Hattie is using for a very particular task. Hattie is on her way to be ruined because she wants to render herself completely unmarriageable and therefore eligible to inh ...more

4.5 stars for another swoonworthy, steamy, terrific Sarah MacLean book. I loved it. As with most of her books, you have to suspend a certain level of disbelief and just accept that you are living in a universe where people fall in love instantly and super intensely, where heroines are strong/beautiful/respected/outspoken, and where heroes are honorable and tender under their tough exteriors. This is what makes it so good, people! Hattie was an awesome protagonist - spunky and vulnerable, strong ...more

I received this novel from net galley and the publisher. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this novel by Ms. MacLean. Hattie was such a unique character during this era, for she had intelligence and business smarts. Hattie did not back down from a challenge, outspoken, and is a loyal person. She wants to run her father's shipping business and has worked hard to prove it to him. If only she was born a man instead of a woman. Beast, aka Whit, in intrigued by Hattie from the moment he wakes. tied up in he
It’s the eve of Lady Henrietta “Hattie” Sedley’s twenty-ninth birthday, and she has a plan. It doesn’t involve balls, parties, or even marriage, like other girls her age; her plan will show her father how committed she is to the family business. If all goes well, he’ll agree and give control of it to her instead of her lackwit, layabout brother. Her flawless plan hits a snag immediately, however, when she finds a gorgeous, dangerous man tied up and unconscious in her carriage.

Woa! A 4.5 stars for me.

Sarah MacLean returns with her second book in the Bareknuckle Bastards series. She continues the story of the three illegitimate brothers that were plucked out of their lives and pitted against each other by their father. This book focuses on the hero, Whit, who is found unconscious in the carriage of the heroine, Hattie. Hattie, is about to embark on the "Year of Hettie" and is none too happy that Whit is
