I fought against fate, and I won. I made a deal with the devil to keep her.

It was supposed to be over. We were meant to be happy.

Too bad my enemies had other plans.

Note: This is the conclusion of Peter & Sara’s story. It is strongly recommended that you read Twist Me and Capture Me trilogies before embarking on this book, as there will be major spoilers for those series.

Sooooooooo...to say I have been anticipating this book for a long time would be an understatement.

As such, my expectations for this thing were pretty dang high.
I was worried it would fall massively short.

But how dare I not trust Ms. Zaires.

This was a solid conclusion to Peter and Sara's story as a whole.
The writing was, as always, on point.
The plot was well planned out.
And, of course, the chemistry between Peter and Sara was off the charts.

We also got some scrumptious cameos and scenes with characters from previous books, i.e., the Twist Me and Capture Me series (which made me die a little inside with complete and abject joy), and the most delicious epilogue ever.

So why not 5 stars?

Hmmmmm...hard to state here without some spoilers for certain scenes. Let's just say I thought there were some hugely missed opportunities (one in particular) for some of the end scenes of the book. Nothing catastrophic or game-changing by any means, but definitely something I saw as...a letdown.

Perhaps once the book is actually out, I will edit this review to put what I mean in spoiler tags.

Also, at the end of the day...Nora and Julian will always be my ride or die in this world (with Lucas and Yulia right there with them) and Peter and Sara - while still amazing in their own way - just aren't them.

Regardless, I enjoyed the hell out of this series.
And I'm really hoping Zaires continues story telling in the world...perhaps with Yan or his twin...yum.

“Peter, if we’re… to do this for real—if we’re to build a normal life together—I need you to promise me something.”
“What is it, my love?” I ask, though I can guess.
“I need you to promise me you’ll never do this again.” Her hazel eyes are intent on my face. “I need to know that if someone happens to upset me, he won’t end up in an alley with his throat slit. That if our children have a difficult teacher at school, or are bullied by a classmate, or if someone flips us off as we drive by, that murder is not on the table as a solution.”
I blink slowly. “I see.”
“Can you promise me that?” she presses, clutching the edges of her towel. “I need to know that the people around me are safe—that by being with you, I’m not condemning anyone else to death.”

***spoilers***

Well, normality is overrated anyway...
Peter and Sara tried so hard to have a normal life at the suburbs. Peter tried harder of course. But nothing worked out. Once a killer, always a killer.

To be honest it wasn't Peter's fault that they failed. Peter's worst enemy was not feeling safe and he wasn’t convinced that Peter has given up his old life. So, he decided to attack first sneakily.

The book is divided into four distinct parts.
First part: Peter and Sara's efforts to act as a normal couple. Hahaha....yeah right.
Second part: Hell breaks loose. I was very sad for the loses, but finally Sara developed a backbone.
Third part: Reunion with the characters from Twist Me and Capture Me. Pure awesomeness. I have missed them all- especially Julian.
Fourth part: The take-no-prisoners finale. Girl power.

I had forgotten how much over the top male is Peter.
Really loved the book. Definitely the best one in the series.

-----------------------
BEFORE READING THE BOOK
Four and final (?) book in the continuing story of Peter & Sarah.
I expect many characters from the Twist Me series and Capture Me series to appear judging from the cliffhanger in book 3.

Is author familiar with world map? Like where ans how far is Europe, South America, North America frim each other? Like 12-18h plane rides? Which need a lot of fuel? She makes it sound like they are neigboring counties and with same time and fuel you can get from Switzerland to Turkey (europe) or Venezuela (S-america).

This series has taken SOOOOOOO long. Way to long. I don't remember anything, if the next books comes out etc.

With that being said i have bad feelings with this book and i just can't seem to finish it ..

I was lucky enough to snag an ARC, so here is my embarrassingly gushy review

Epic finale: former assassin gets second chance at love and tries to hold on to it with everything

After years spent in pursuit of vengeance against those that are responsible for getting his wife and son killed, Spetsnaz operative turned assassin, Peter Sokolov, gets a second chance at love. After realizing that his Sara can never be happy living on the run, forever separated from her parents and friends, unable to practice medicine, Peter takes on one last dangerous job and makes a deal with devil that gets him off the FBI’s most wanted list and allows him to return to the US. Even though this means foregoing part of his revenge, he loves Sara more and wants to give her the life she yearns for. So after he has put a ring on her finger, he turns himself into a model citizen, giving up his predilection of solving problems with violence (mostly), is a supportive husband, a passionate and insatiable lover and a considerate son-in-law (the way he is with Sara's parents is endearing). But after some months of suburban bliss, an enemy from Peter’s past strikes unexpectedly and Sara’s life is once more turned upside down, only this time she isn’t going to let go of Peter…

This is the forth and final book in Sara and Peter’s unconventional and tumultuous love story and it also brings back Nora and Julian (Twist Me trilogy) and Yulia and Lucas (Capture Me trilogy) whose lives and stories have intersected with Sara and Peter’s before. I hope I don’t give too much away by saying there is a HEA of sorts, even though the slight possibility of further stories in the high-octane world of international espionage and mercenary work is implied.

The story is told in first person narrative alternating between Sara’s/Peter’s point of view which adds immediacy and lets us see into the psyche of the two main protagonists. It also helps to humanize Peter’s often over-the-top protectiveness and lets us see the struggles both Sara and Peter go thru coming to terms with their feelings regarding their rather unconventional relationship.

After Julian I didn’t believe Anna Zaires could create an anti-hero that could top him, but I do think I love Peter even more. Because for all his ruthlessness he is the perfect dark romance hero: driven, scarred by his past, possessing a honed body he knows how to use in a fight as well as in the bedroom, and aside from being good with his hands he also knows how to cook. Sara, the heroine, is no pushover, but herself at least as driven as Peter and well-established in her profession (which she isn’t going to give up for him). So I not only love them individually, but also how well they balance each other out as a couple.

Aside from writing great dark romance that grips you and doesn’t let you go I also love how Anna Zaires manages to infuse an underlying thread of social criticism into her stories: showing the consequences of US military operations on foreign soil and how civilians, especially children become collateral damage in endless wars over geo-political dominance. The way the behavior and overreach of US government agencies at home is portrayed here also calls into question the seemingly clear lines between those who are considered the good guys and bad guys, and ultimately between good and evil.
Anna Zaires deservedly is considered one of the pre-eminent writers of dark romance! I hope she will give us more stories like this in the future!

5 sexy, psychotic, action-packed stars!

Boy oh boy does this series end with a bang. And it was so worth the wait. We have all our favourite characters scorching the pages, sure to consume our every hour—and did I mention it’s action packed? Just how I like my books.

Anna has done it again in true Zaires style. No one can write Dark, Suspenseful Romance better than she.

Whose story do I want to see next? Lizzie’s. Julian and Nora’s baby girl could have one hell of a duet. Imagine being on Julian’s security and falling in love with his daughter...damn you know papa is gonna cut off your nuts 😂

I can’t wait to see what Anna does next. I’m on tenterhooks.

“I’ll always love you, Peter ... in this world and beyond.”

A deal was made. Amnesty granted. Wedding vows were exchanged and the bride was kissed. Time for Peter and Sara’s happily ever after...

Dr. Sara Solkolov (aka Garin) has come a long way since being water-boarded in her own kitchen in Book 1. Once the powerless captive, she has become the woman who has it all: a devoted husband, a challenging career, a dream home in the suburbs, weekend brunches with her parents ... what more can she ask for?

Certainly not more romance: Peter’s libido is insatiable and he has the stamina of a stallion in mating season. “Men aren’t supposed to fuck their wives every night like they just got out of prison.” You sure about that, Sara?

Unfortunately, Peter’s last remaining fugitive target will not leave well enough alone. General Henderson, the man who gave the order that resulted in the destruction of Peter’s first family, will not rest until Peter (and his “associates”) are eliminated.

His interference will lead to appearances from Yan, Ilya, and Anton, Julian and Nora, and Lucas and Yulia. I just LOVED how Sara at one point stops to admire the “lethal panty-slaying masculinity” that the team of gentlemen/killers represent and a split-second later, she decides that “of course, Peter is far more magnetic than the others”!

Time and loss changes all of us, and Sara is most changed of all. Along her journey, she has come to realize that she loves Peter more than she ever loved any man before him.

No longer innocent, she accepts the part of herself that is now in sync with her husband’s world view. “I now know that ruthless killers can love, and that the heart can lack a moral compass.”

No longer powerless, she realizes that she now holds immense power she never imagined. “I’m as much of a monster as Peter. I killed Monica’s stepfather by pointing at him the most dangerous weapon I know. My new husband.”

I’m glad for the more experienced, more cutthroat Dr. Sara Solkolov. Because Henderson is gunning for the lot of them, and I’m not sure the old Sara would have been able to handle all the incredible steps she ends up taking in Forever Mine to safeguard her future with Peter. The ending is totally satisfying because it truly pays homage to how far Sara, Nora, and Yulia have come in their captive love stories.

This beautiful story is joyfully and tearfully reviewed as an ARC from the author, but will be purchased so that I can read it over, and over, and over again.

I am a mix of emotions right now. Happy, crying and sad. I loved every part of not only this book but the complete series. I am only sad it has ended. I don’t think I will ever get enough of Julian, Peter, Lucas or their wives. I recommend this series to as many people as I possible.

Thank you Anna for writing these stories. Your talent and creativity is so appreciated. I cannot wait to see what you have in store for us next.

I have bought and read every book this author has put out. Her writing is that amazing.

Newlyweds Sara and Peter Sokolov have been given a second chance miracle. An agreement with the government absolves Peter of all past crimes as long as he agrees to give up his killing vendetta and never commits another crime of any sort.

That agreement makes it possible for Anna to return to practicing medicine as an OB/Gyn physician though in Peter's case, it's a little more difficult as there isn't much of a call for reformed mercenary killers in mainstream America.

Just as the two get comfortable with their new lives a figure from the past feels that now is the perfect time for payback. Payback that would remove Peter as a threat as only a naive idiot would seriously believe that Peter would ever voluntarily go straight. No, he's up to something which is why it's the perfect time to take him out

*****

This advanced copy was provided to me by the author. That fact has no effect on the honest review I am providing.

In this the fourth and final installment in the Tormentor Mine series, the author has provided a suitable send off for the series that readers like me will love. I do want to also include that this should not be read as a stand alone so do not read this book until/unless you have read the other ones as the author brings back central characters from the Twist Me and Capture Me series. Their presence in this story would be lost on any potential reader if they haven't read the previous books along with the fact that there is an evolving series plot that makes it impossible to follow otherwise.

Having read this as an ARC copy I was pleasantly surprised and delighted in the overall story. Usually, authors use a final installment in a series as a clean up and visit down memory lane sort of thing. Any and all story line content bring closure, and maybe a glimpse into a possible spin off series to tease readers with. This story was chalk filled with spine tingling action packed suspenseful content that I feel was the best of this and pertinent parallel series. This is a must read for any fans of the series. You might think that there isn't much more to this series, but, the author saved the best for last.

Sara and Peter. While I may have had my doubts about Peter in the beginning, he redeemed himself in spades while Sarah turned out to be a bad ass in her own right. For those who are on a need to know basis - hot adult content scenes are a part of this story but all is good as they're married.

Secondary characters. Julian, Nora, Kent, Yulia, Rosa, Martha, and others return for one last adventure. I am the kind of reader who appreciates when authors bring back characters in a meaningful way rather than just as cameo figures. That was definitely the case here. I'm not giving away spoilers when I share that Julian is growing on me. Maybe he's not the devil I've come to believe he is .... or is he and I like that. lol

I have always wondered why authors don't take on what life would have been like for anti-hero characters who give up their life of crime for their lady love. Most stories end shortly after that decision is made..... and they live happily ever after. This story starts out immediately after Peter turns his back on his life of crime as the two get married. It chronicles the angst and overall difficulties that sort of character would have fitting in as a law abiding spouse of a physician. Seeking worth to bring meaning to his life. Adding a suspenseful story line plot to agitate the expected outcome was the frosting on the cake for me as I came to understand that it's never really over, until it's over. I don't know whether I'm more grateful the author closed out the series with this wonderful read or sad there won't be another although, if my spidy senses are correct, I do feel that I picked up on a potential spinoff series regarding one or two of the secondary characters that has me excited. Time will tell I guess.

Highly recommend this book for any fan of Anna Zaires who have read previous installments of this series. For any potential new readers, do keep in mind this is a contemporary dark antihero suspense thriller that includes erotic romance. It has all the bells and whistles that readers of action-adventure will enjoy.

Inhale….
Exhale…
Repeat…

OMG!! This book couldn’t have been delivered to my kindle at a better time. The Conclusion of Peter and Sara’s story was the perfect ending to this series.

This book was intense, had me biting my nails…it doesn’t matter how long Anna Zaires takes to write a book, you can tell that every detail, every I was dotted and every T was crossed to bring us this book. Definitely well worth the wait to get this conclusion!!

Let’s start off by saying, Peter’s love for Sara will stop at NOTHING. There will never be anything that comes between these two. That’s not to say that what these two have is a smooth sailing! With just one name left on the list, makes every day that these two pass without incident heaven.

Can these two truly walk away from Peter’s lifestyle and lead a ‘normal’ life where Sara is back at being a doctor and singing/performing? What does a man like Peter do now that he is supposedly ‘retired’?

Anna Zaires has a true talent for writing! There is not one book that I’ve read of hers that I haven’t totally enjoyed. I hate to see this series end. Now the waiting begins to see what she is working on next!!

Hallelujah! The conclusion to Peter and Sara's story has arrived, and it was SO worth the wait! I usually don't read a series until all of the books are out, but got into this one without realizing that the fourth book had not yet been released. Thank goodness I only had to wait a month.
This book. This series. This whole world Anna Zaires has created... it is just so butterflies-in-my-tummy excellent. Do I love Peter? Yep! Do I love Lucas? Yep! Do I love Julian? Well, honestly, not quite... but, I love Nora so it works out. And, truth be told, I think Julian did redeem himself a little in this book. Finally. He is growing on me.
Back to this book- we have suspense, drama, our beloved characters from previous books (including the deliciously unsettling Yan), crushing loss, several near-misses, and lots of action. Both the Bruce Willis kind AND the skinemax kind. Yum.
Aagh, I loved it. I loved it so much. I loved the epilogue with the glimpse into the future as well. Don't we all want to know how things turn out for our favorite characters? Of course we do.
My only disappointment with this book is that it is the end of this world. Or, IS it? Anna Zaires, if you read this (Yan), I would like to formally request (Yan) more books from this world (Yan).
So worth the wait. Each series in this world just keeps getting better. I'm so glad I found this author, and so glad I found this series (and the two series connected to it).

What a perfect conclusion to Peter and Sara's story. I'm nostalgic. I didn't want it to end! Ms. Zaires has a talent for creating complex, multi-dimensional, and unforgettable characters who stay with you long after reading the story. They elicit your curiosity. They make you root for them. They make you fall in love with them. They make you crave more.

This book had it all. There was heart-wrenching action, heartache, tension, loads of twists and turns, and the off-the-charts hot, sometimes explosive, sometimes tender, sensual moments only Ms. Zaires can write with her special flair.

This series is one of my all-time favorites, and I'm not saying goodbye to Peter and the team. I'll definitely revisit them in more than one re-read. If you like hot, dangerous alphas with sexy accents and strong heroines, this one is for you. I highly recommend!

This review covers the quartet that ends the entire saga of arms-dealer/mercenary Julian Esguerra, his associates, Lucas Kent and Peter Sokolov, and the women they love. This set focuses on Peter and Sara. He's a Russian ex-operative out to avenge the deaths of his wife and son at the hands of American soldiers; she's a Chicago-area doctor whose husband played a role in the deaths. Their initial encounter is brutal -- he tortures her to obtain her husband's location -- but, afterwards, neither can forget the other. Soon, Peter returns to Sara, insinuating himself into her life and telling her that he'll never let her go...

Before I get to my thoughts, I want to advise readers of three things: 1) The first book contains waterboarding; 2) The first two books end in cliffhangers; and 3) Certain lines of action and important secondary characters are first introduced in previous books.

I found this extremely difficult to rate because though I was invested in the story, its underlying message is so extraordinarily nihilistic that I found it impossible to invest in anyone's HEA. After all, when both the "bad" and, er, the less "bad" guys believe that murdering innocent people is perfectly permissible collateral damage, then what, exactly, separates them? If, as Peter says, that's the way the world works, and Sara agrees that she's just not going to think about it "because what would be the point," then what, indeed, is the point of, well, anything?

In addition, many of the books' strengths are also its weaknesses. On one hand, I appreciated that the relationship developed over time; on the other, it was too much time (just how often did Peter cook dinner for her? how often did Sara stare at Peter's naked chest?). On one hand, I admired the world-building since plot points in previous books end up having repercussions in later ones. On the other, this didn't need to be ten books. On one hand, Peter was the dream boyfriend (he cooks! he cleans! he plans !). On the other, he was a controlling, obsessive sociopath who thought nothing of telling a women that he would kill all . On one hand, Sara was intelligent and resourceful. On the other, her attraction to Peter was inexplicable to me since nothing in her life indicates that she'd be the type of person to jettison her core values for great sex (indeed, Peter and Sara handle every conflict with sex). She's truly the mistress of compartmentalization.

So, overall, I'd say that if you're looking for a well-written and -edited darkish book (after that first scene, Peter doesn't harm Sara, though he does kidnap her), featuring an OTT Alpha male über-possessive and -protective of his woman, with plenty of action/suspense/intrigue, you may enjoy this. While you might call this insta-love since Peter's feelings were based on one encounter, that encounter is so intense that I found it understandable. In addition, the relationship is very much based on the Good Girl/Bad Boy and Opposites Attract tropes to the nth degree (as Peter himself points out): the Medic and the Murderer; the Giver of Life (she's an obstetrician, natch) and the Taker of Life; the much-loved, middle-class American child and the loveless, penniless Russian orphan.

Ultimately, Ms. Zaires highlights two important consequences of modern-day warfare: the difficulties in processing and moving on from trauma, and the tragic loss of life to state-sponsored violence. The problems, however, are twofold: 1) Julian, Lucas, and Peter are as much responsible for these repercussions as either the "state" or their enemies, and 2) The books' insistence on very problematic moral equivalences: Sara feels guilty for the wrong things (she ) and not the right (she feels bad for all of two seconds when Peter ).

At the end of the day, the fact that not one single character takes responsibility for their actions, but, rather, just shrugs and says "that's life" was ultimately too off-putting for this reader.

Tormentor Mine: 4 stars
Obsession Mine: 3 stars
Destiny Mine: 3 stars (The MC spend most of their time apart)
Forever Mine: 3 1/2 stars (The climax was, well, anti-climatic: the author should have included a scene between )

3 1/2 stars overall which I'm raising to 4 since Peter never views Sara as lesser-than because she's a woman; there were some twists I didn't see coming; and we do get closure via an epilogue. I believe there's one more book in this world: Darker Than Love.

Anna Zaires never disappoints me!

This is the continuing story of Peter & Sarah.
Peter strikes a deal with authorities to be a law abiding citizen and lead a “normal” married life with Sarah, whom he previously kidnapped. But how does an ex-assassin lead a normal life?
He doesn’t and he brings Sarah into his fold!

Sarah says “I’m as much of a monster as Peter. I killed Monica’s stepfather by pointing at him the deadliest weapon I know. My new husband.”
This excerpt speaks volumes as to what this book is about!

Things I really loved about this book: the action, the adventure, the chemistry between two people who should never be together, their hot sex life & the return of some of our favorite characters!
Julian, Nora, Lucas & Yulia ALL show up to play in this fantastic book!

I loved the ending and fans of these series will as well!

Amo follemente i suoi personaggi maschili,(maschi Alfa).
Caratterizza i suoi personaggi in maniera assolutamente fantastica, mai scontati o banali.

This is book #4 and the prior books should be read in order to understand the previous history before reading this one.
I was engrossed in reading Forever Mine until I finished and was not disappointed.
The book opens with Henderson at his computer and Bonnie coming into the office and observing a picture of a wedding on the screen. She becomes distraught with what she sees and Henderson doesn't even attempt to explain or comfort her. He just excepts her behavior because his obsession is of more importance to him. It doesn't matter that Peter and the FBI have made a deal and no longer on the most wanted list, so long as he doesn't break the agreement. However, Henderson is determined to take him out to save his family.
Peter has given up being a criminal and his revenge, against Hendeson, to make a life with his new wife. He's worked at showing his in-laws that he loves Sara enough to change for her and wanted a family.
A bombing of the Chicago FBI building happened.
Then the FBI attacked Peter, Sara, and her parents at her parents home.
I read this and it was packed with a little (a reminder of) history and became a wild run for their life.

This is the fourth book in Peter and Sara’s fierce love story and it is not a standalone. For years Peter has been seeking revenge for his family which led him to Sara. This allowed him to have a second chance at love. However, Sara has her needs and Peter needs to adjust. While time is passing and things appear to be going smoothly, a disgruntled FBI agent and his associate cannot seem to let the past go. When all is said and done, can Peter keep his promise to Sara? Who will come out on top? Anna Zaires has written one compelling ending to this storyline enhanced by bringing back beloved characters from her other series. This is one explosive, drama driven, and action laden read from start to finish. Tying up the storyline nicely is the addition of an epilogue. This is one author that I just cannot get enough of whose flair for dark romance is exemplary.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

A bit of an abrupt last novel. Things seemed to happen at warp speed - not exactly the worst thing, after the stultifying slowness of the last book - and I loved reading about how the women saved themselves. Only wish there were more Lucas and Yulia, who are my favourite couple.

Forever Mine is the ending of Peter and Sara’s story, and Anna sure did send them off with a bang! I loved seeing Peter and Sara get settled into the married life, but unfortunately, Peter’s enemies had other plans. Things take a dark turn just when Sara and Peter are getting comfortable, and the rest of the book is like experiencing a live action/romance film! We get to see appearances from some of Anna’s other characters such as Julian and Nora as they come together to protect and help each other. I think my favorite thing about this story is that certain events cause Sara to finally stop doubting her love for Peter, and you’ll see her slowly begin to accept and embrace their strong and intense connection. Anna’s beautiful writing will have you hooked on the first page, and you will love the ending of Peter and Sarah’s story, I guarantee it!

Oh my gosh this book is nothing short of amazing!
I definitely suggest reading the other books before this one as you won’t understand what’s going on if you don’t!

This book had me giggling and screaming at the same time!
You left off with Henderson planning to go after Peter... how well do you think that works out for him....

man I have to tell you there are things that happened that I totally wouldn’t have expected! And parts left me totally heartbroken and ready for revenge! Will peter finally get his revenge after all these years?! You’ll have to read this book to find out!

But in the end I Am so satisfied with the conclusion of Sara and Peters story 😍I definitely recommend this book!

5 stars Anna Zaries! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
