I’m finally in control of my magic…and it’s much stronger than my Coven realizes.

That’s not the only secret I’m keeping. I made a deal with a fairy: her secrets for some of mine. Except I have no idea how to deliver on my oath and crossing the Fae is suicidal. Tennessee knows I’m up to something, but not even my soulmate can help me now, especially when being together is against the law.

The answers to my problems lie within the Book of Shadows – which no one has seen for centuries.

The quest to find it takes us deep into the Old Lands, where the magic is ancient, the creatures are far more than human, and each task is more dangerous than the last. Without the Book we can’t rescue Henley or save the world from demon destruction. It’s time to lay everything on the line, including our lives. Because I’m either going to find the Book…or die trying.

The magic continues in The Rebel Witch, the third book in the adventure-filled Elemental Magic series that's leaving readers begging for more!

And the quests just keep on coming

FYI - I try not to give spoilers in my reviews. This is just an overall opinion of the book.
Things appear to be moving in the right direction but fate seems to be testing our Cards every step of the way. I mean why make things easy when the fate of closing the gap rests in our heroes hands? Gotta make sure they're worthy. In this book, it was nice for the other Cards to be in the dark as Tegan and Emersyn on some things. The face pace of the story (or perhaps it's the speed at which I am reading) keeps you eagerly turning the next page, justifying reading one more chapter before you go to bed. But it's okay to hurry because the Coven are also fast running out of time, and they still have several prophecies to fulfill before they can even reach the finale. Luckily for us there are three more books before that happens. Couldn't bear for it to be over too quickly. Hmm...its only midnight...do I have time to read another?

Good

Continuing the adventures of Tegan and Tennessee, the coven had another quest or two to accomplish, before they can go and find their missing member.
As with all quests, this means the gang are heading into danger and have no guarantee they will survive.

It's an action packed addition to the series, with lots of magical goings on... And a book-hook type ending.
An enjoyable and exciting read for the urban fantasy fan

This book continues story the series. It can not be read by itself - nothing, and I mean nothing, would make any sense.

This book pushes the plot along as the coven has a new quest to find the Book of Shadows. She has to embrace doing magic her way with her support team and true love to solve clues and be deemed worthy to receive the book.

FYI - the author's style is to tell different in first person yet alternating who that person is. Sometimes overlapping the same scene but from another's eyes.

I understand this book (series) is meant for teenagers, yet I find it a bit boring. The supposed tension between the couples isn't believable, and the whole thing is awkward.

why do I keep reading this series

Because I’m broken. If I don’t DNF the first or second books, I have a compulsion to finish the series. It wouldn’t be completely awful if the author actually knew how to write a soulmate connection without making the characters literally mindless in each other’s presence. Tegan is not a strong female lead. She was given the most power of any witch in millennia and in a few days has perfect control. Trained with weapons for about a week and is suddenly a badass fighter. There’s no struggle for her to adapt at all. The soulmate bond? Ugh. First, Tegan and Emersyn aren’t allowed to date until middle age but no one tells them why, only that if they’re caught they will be stripped of magic. Then, Tegan and Tenn can’t show anyone the soulmate glyph even though Tegans parents and the coven leader both have the marks but no one ever says why it has to be kept hidden. The characters desperately need depth because they are shallow af. Their only personality is their mindless blathering when the two of them are even remotely close to each other.

I just thought about something. White supremacist entitlement is so strong. Like I am sure the author of this series doesn’t think she is racist, but she decided that the genocide of an indigenous tribe was okay to include in her plot. These witches slaughtered a whole ass tribe! With all the magic, there was no other way? So, now I’m going to change all my ratings on her books. I mean I’m used to BIPOC erasure in white fiction, so it doesn’t make me angry there’s only one Puerto Rican character in the series. But, to slaughter a whole ass tribe!? As a Black woman with indigenous ancestry, I have to speak on it, despite enjoying the series otherwise.

I don’t tend to post book reviews often. Or even EVER. So y’all know if I am it’s cause I feel strongly on a subject and if ya know me at all you know exactly WHY I feel so strongly on this.

So, this book got two stars for two separate reasons. I actually would rate the story itself higher than that, maybe even a 4 or 5, because it’s fun. Sure, it’s YA so you know what’s going to happen before it does most of the time but it’s fun and the concept is creative along with good execution of the concept. It’s an easy and quick read. I even like most of the characters which is saying something. Deacon who is introduced in this book might’ve been a favorite.

The reason I ranked this lower than the other two is because this is when I had the misfortune of stumbling across the author and her bestie actively bullying a fellow reader online for something as simple as the courtesy of putting spoiler tags up on a non-traditional spoiler. Or rather, a neurodivergent spoiler. The absolutely rash, harsh and downright berating behavior exhibited (which was then PROMOTED and -EXALTED- by the author and her fan base) has left me with such disgust that I am honestly not sure I can finish this series because it just makes me angry to support a bully.

TL;DR: Worth a read, especially if you can borrow or use Kindle Unlimited. Avoid the author and her fanbase. Author is an overly sensitive internet bully with a gross toxic fan base that blatantly disregards and dismisses neurodivergents. For those of y’all in my age group (older millennial nerd), remember the fanfic author Sephiroth and how toxic that was? Oh yeah. THAT bad guys.

I can shamelessly announce to the world this is one of the best series I have ever read.
The quests never seem to stop. Now that Deacon joined the coven, not to everyone's liking, the chosen Cards have to on another mission that will help them retrieve the Book of Shadows and possibly rescue Henley from the torturous hell she is currently kept in. But the quest is definitely not easy, the danger is enormous, and for Tegan and Tenn, the chance of a slip is even greater. What will then happen if they are sent to the garden of Eden?
Amazing world full of breathtaking magic and endless possibilities, fantastic creatures and mythical places. The book is breathing magic with every second word - and the other half is pure emotion. Love, pain, desire, despair, strong friendship, and lightheaded fun. You can fin everything in here. The set of character is great, carefully picked and put together, and as they develop, the story speeds forward on more than one front. Complicated and tnagled relationships are vowen through the main plot, the storylines racing forward almost equally. I absolutely loved the tension building, the anticipation that kept me alert throughout the whole book, and the amazing scenes opening in front of my eyes. I cannot wait any longer for the next book!

I love this series, from the very first words Chandelle LaVaun has the ability to make the world around me disappear, then when I have to become part of reality again, all that runs through my head is this story. It’s like when a song gets stuck in your head and no matter what you do, it’s a constant niggle. I spend all the time wanting to get back to it and be there with these characters I have become so fond of. I support them, I grieve with them, I feel the passion, heartbreak, suspense, the OMG moments when I’m shouting inside my head at them. I get my own butterflies when I feel the torment and intensity of Tegan and Tennessee’s love. and my heart breaks for them every time they have to fight the forbidden rule. This author has a bountiful amount of imagination which erupts onto the pages of this book. However to enjoy it, you also have to have a special natural ability, and capacity to achieve and succeed in the written word. Chandelle LaVaun has achieved this once again and I can’t wait for the next book in this spellbinding series.

I like that this book explored two other povs, although briefly. The fact that the other two were given let on that they would have a soul mate bond too, so when it was revealed, I was not surprised.
Aside from the new bond and new members of the coven, things move swiftly as the demon attacks are increasing and becoming more aggressive. After the induction, select members are immediately sent on a mission to retrieve the book of shadows from the Garden of Eden. While there, the chosen members of the coven face their most judgemental and dangerous task yet.
With the mission completed successfully, they head back to Eden (the witch settlement) and are given news about how things were in their absence. What seemed to be hours to them turned out to be 5 weeks, and the demon activity has increased significantly. It is here that we are left hanging on what the next move is.
Each book just continuously picks up action and becomes more interesting, which is not something all authors can do.

The book was well-paced with an intriguing plot that readers could jump into immediately. There is plenty of action that holds the reader’s attention from start to finish, with each book seeming to get better and better! The characters were developed well and very likable. The quest for the Book of Shadows focused on in this book is not an easy one and puts the characters in danger. Will they be successful? And if they are, at what cost?

Be aware that Book three continues this exciting series with the expectation that you have read the previous books, and I would recommend that to increase your enjoyment of the series. A great page-turner, mixing action, suspense, magic, and adventure -- you won’t want to miss this one! It’s a well-written book and definitely worth taking the time to enjoy it!

This is another fantastic addition to the series, Chandelle knows how to make you feel like your actually there with the characters going on the adventure with them. This story picks up where the last book finished but to understand the characters you should read the other two books and believe me it’s totally worth it. A fantastic group of characters and I would love to go along on their quest, there’s magic, adventure, twists and turns and of course the quest. A very entertaining story I couldn’t put it down I had to read this story right up until the end because I didn’t want to miss out on anything. Such a fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

I liked so much how Mrs LaVaun integrates the different folklore in her story and into each other. So, I thought the 'Old Lands' is the fairy world but there are also aspects of the bible and the spiritual world. Everything was beautiful described and interwoven.
Tenn and Tegan get to spend some time alone with each other. Their relationship is really sweet and developing wonderfully. Even so, Mrs LaVaun never forgets her other characters who grow as well throughout the books. The Quest idea is still really awesome. It gives the story so much dynamic and suspense. It is like reading a detective-fantasy thriller. Also, I wonder what all this is about 'Hope'.

I really have been enjoying this series. Tennessee and Teagan have such a strong connection and I feel their pain at having to hide their love.

This series has a great mix of action and adventure and romance. This one has them on a difficult journey that challenges them. It kept me guessing.

I highly recommend you read them all in order. You really see Teagan growing into her new life and her sister as well is beginning to understand how much their lives have changed. They have really grown close in a short time.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Series keeps getting better

This was best yet. It's a thrilling adventure to follow. The coven had to take on the hardest quest ever presented to them and failure isn't an option. Tennessee and Regan are finding it harder and harder to hide their feelings. Emersyn may have met her match and Tennessee isn't quite as inhuman as previously believed. I loved Gabriel (the angel Gabriel) and Lonan the dragon. They are closer to helping Henley, but are barely standing. Lots of twists and turns, lots of suspense. Multiple POV, must be read in order.

I’m so glad I stuck around

So I’m officially lovingly this series and it only took three books to get me there.

I like the way Tegan and Tennessee are together and the hot/cold bothers me as much as it does Tegan. The world expanded in this book and it was an epic trip to find their Book of Shadows. The writing still comes off a little loopy for me but I like the way the author planned things. Eden was possibly my favorite part of the book and I can’t wait for more to happen now that they’re back home.

I do have to say every book in the series so far really needs some major editing. There were a lot of grammar and spelling errors. That being said I really love this series. I oopsed and read Bettina's books first. It wasn't too confusing but made a lot more sense after reading Tegan's books. Even with editing issues, it didn't take away from the story lines. I really wish Emerson's books were a little longer though. This is a must series to read!!!

Rebel Witch Thrive!

A new Devil card revealed, new quests acknowledged, suffering endures.
The chosen card members mist hunt down an important item that belongs to the Coven known as the Book of Shadows. Will Keagan, Emersyon, Tennesee, Cooper, Royce, Deacon, Willow and Chestney find their way in the old land? Hm, wonder if they're worthy into a certain garden? Definitely should read this book.

I just love the snark, angyst and the rollercoaster in adventure in this book.

So clever to finish every book with a cliffhanger so we'll be forced to read the next book but this kind of gets old after a while, you know? Especially when the writing style steadily is deteriorating. Garden of Eden itself was quite an adventure and the book should've ended right there or atleast at the balefire. Instead the author drags on & on and that bone off emperor's shoulder was completely unnecessary and Tegan is totally not worth the hype.

The Rebel Witch.

This is the best of Chandelle's book so far. I was sitting on the edge of my chair through most of this book. Chandelle La Vaun has a gift from the God's of Literature. Her descriptive writing puts you right there with her Characters, as they battle into the "Other Worlds" . I can't wait until I can get my hand on her next book

This is an interesting series, a series that grows with each new book. Tennessee and Tegan have a battle on their hands in the garden of eden. If they choose wrong, the book of shadows is lost to them. A select few are chosen to face this battle, they will struggle and they will fight but in the end they will learn and understand.

The books get more addictive with each new book. I am hooked so much so that I read book 3 thru 5 straight through. They get better , contain so much content, so many twists and turns, it is literally non stop excitement all the way. Scenes, old and new characters are so well written I could picture everything.

This series is up there with my all time favourite reads!!!

Keeping the storyline alive!!

She's done it again! Another terrific installment about the Cards and Coven. I didn't think it could get better - in fact I'm a bit of a cynic and was worried the story was going to be destroyed by overkill - but boy, was I wrong!! Let the tale continue!!!

Still a great series

Everytime I read the next book in this series, they just keep getting better and better than the last. I am so in love with every single character in this series. I can not wait to find out if Tegan and Tennessee can overcome the rules and be together and everything else that they need to do and fix. Such an amazing series!

These books are witty and imaginative with sassy female heroines, and badass take no nonsense male backup. The reader is immersed in a world unlike any other where danger meets the coven at every corner. Along the way, the character development is intense and mesmerizing making the characters relatable and likable. Definitely addictive!
