Ohhhh, boy!!

If you didn't know, this universe has 30 books or so and it's recommended to read them in order, not the series, one by one.
I chose to read the series for now, not the whole universe. Not because I don't want to, but because I want to keep some amazing books for dark days.

It would have been useful to read the other books too. I'm a bit sad I didn't... But I stand by my decision, this author is way too amazing to not have things to read by him.

If you've read the previous books, you kn

I loved this book. There's nothing better than to curl up in my favorite chair, forget about anything stressful and enter this book's amazing world. I was laughing while reading and I sure did get a few weird looks my way. I love to picture the stories world in my head as I read and the descriptions in this book make it very easy. The unique characters in this book are just awesome! This book is action-packed, with humor, adventure, danger, suspense, magic, betrayal, loyalty, shape-shifters, he ...more

“If you like Jim Butcher, Kevin Hearne, Michael Anderle, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Shannon Mayer, or K.F. Breene, you will LOVE the ninth installment of the Temple Chronicles.”

This teaser comparison in the publisher’s blurb - as hard as it is to believe - is an understatement (and I’m a huge “buy every book ASAP” fan of most of these listed authors). The Temple Chronicles are more delightful than Dresden, more ironic than the Iron Druid, more criminally fun than Crimes Against Magic, more

The comedy can't get any better. I have zoomed straight through this series, and can't wait to read the next.
Characters of note: Talon, Carl, and Alucard.
Chapter 51 made me cry like a baby, so what is everyone waiting for go find the first book Obsidian Son.

Read it, then say "Thank You"!

I loved it! Nate is growing. Not in power this time but in his soul.
All of his friends suddenly are giving him the cold shoulder, but why?
Read it and laugh, cry, chuckle, grumble and shout "Heck yes".
As always, Shayne weaves and knits all supernaturals and various religions into a believable and incredible story. I can never get enough of the Nate Temple Series or the Feathers and Fire Series. Both are excellent series which are always exciting, believable and always leave me on the edge of my seat anxiously awaiting the next book.

Nate Temple goes to Hell. It’s not because everybody’s been telling him to. It’s not even (just) because everything is falling apart in his regular world (although it is, what with his allies all suddenly facing challenges from outside the city and all). No, his purpose is to find answers from his parents.

Nate has his friend Death escort him and two of his other friends, Talon the Devourer and Carl, the Elder, to Hell, where Anubis assigns Virgil (except it turns out to really be Dante) to guide

As a librarians daughter I was raised around books... and fed my literary hunger with H. Beam Piper, Piers Anthony, MZB and many other SciFi and Fantasy authors. Growing older I turned to Robert Heinlein and could not begin to tell you how many times I've re-read his works. I've been patiently waiting for another book from Jim Butcher when Shayne Silvers work was suggested to me by Amazon. Recovering from wrist surgery I spent many a night dropping my cell phone on my eye because I could only ho ...more

Best so far

In many ways this is a return to the structure of earlier Nate books. There’s more tension and more at stake as Nate rushes to find the missing pieces of his life, his legacy, and solve the mystery of what he is and who he can become. There’s a return to the sense of urgency that’s been missing since the Tiny God portion of the series ended. We get a first glimpse at our new big bad and all signs point to it being one hell of a ride.

There is trouble brewing in St Louis and, for once,

Shayne Silvers has allowed us to once again visit Nate Temple’s world. Nate Temple, billionaire, wizard, and more… Friend to Freaks, feared by gods. Nate has spent years befriending and defending the Freaks and creatures of St Louis, usually much to their benefit. However, that is all set to come crashing down. A shadowy figure is sowing descent amongst the Freak communities, challenging Nate’s friends for the leadership of their various clans. The goal? To tear apart the cooperation and friends ...more

Rather than tell you about the story, I’ll warn you to be prepared as you read. You will laugh until your sides ache, and it isn’t going to stop soon unless you are a super fast reader. This author’s books are amazing. They are absolutely never dull, and they get better and better! I’ve stopped saying “this one is the best”, because the next one proves me wrong again!

What I love best is that the characters we already know and love come back to cause more mayhem. And then new ones get added and w

I can’t believe we are already at the ninth book in this series. One thing I will say about Mr. Silvers is that he writes not only quickly, but he writes well. In this installment, we are taken to a new place: Hell. Just when I thought the author had run out of places to takes us, I was proven wrong. Mr. Silvers repeatedly proves me wrong about many things including how I never think he can top the current book. So, if you are already here at the ninth book, you already know what to expect: grea ...more

I am not going to give a synopsis as the book description and other reviewers will cover that nicely. Once again Shayne Silvers has exceeded my expectations. I finished this latest addition to Nate's story feeling like I was in the middle of a symphony, each book building upon the last and leaving me in eager anticipation of the next installment and the final crescendo. This series is a singular work weaving original and classic ideas into an original tapestry that stands alone. The best authors ...more

Another superb outing into The Twilight Zone of Silvers' imagination.

Action, humour and intrigue abound in this fast-paced totally compelling new chapter of Nate Temple and friends in the chaos that is their lives. So many hilarious one-liners that I lost track. Epic battles, heart-wrenching and heart-warming moments and a downright creepy stroll through Hell.

An unputdownable, edge-of-the seat adventure that's bound to capture the imagination and deprive one of sleep!

Awesome book, as usual

I love the Nate Temple series. I have from the 1st chapter of the 1st book. How can you not love a series when it begins with cow tipping the Minotaur. The whole series has an awesome balance between craziness, hilarity, gruesome violence and mythology. What's not to love? Shayne Silvers is keeping up his streak of great books with this 9th installment of his series. I won't give any spoilers here, but the story flowed wonderfully & both answered and raised a lot more quest

This book was great. Towards the end the comic relief had me giggling out loud at 3am. I just couldn’t put it down once I hit the halfway mark. This book really made my morning even though I refused to sleep until I had finished. Because it was so funny the last part of the book flew by, and before I knew it I was downloading the next book in the Temple Verse series.

I originally found the Feathers and Fire series which was amazing. Before I knew it I had read through 6 books of that series. The

Nate is going to Hell in a hand basket!
The hand basket was to small so Death is transporting him and two of his most lethal friends there personally. While his other friends in St. Louis turn their backs on Nate and break ties with each other things start to heat up in Hell. Will Nate bring Hell to its knees in his quest for answers to his past. Or will Hell's ruler destroy Nates soul? Will The Temple Team survive without Nate to hold them together and provide them with snarky comebacks. All the

Another great adventure!

Shayne Silvers delivered one of his most enjoyable books. Nate Temple returns in this book to find his close friends and allies distancing themselves from him. Multiple plot lines involving his friends and Nate's visit to hell. What I loved about this book is how these old familiar characters continue to grow. New characters are also introduced and elements from early in the series are brought back in. Often times you read a tale and you just want to know the ending. With

Another hit

Speechless. Nate keeps the drama level pegged to max in this latest adventure. All sorts of crazy things happen. All sorts of hints and foreshadowing. All sorts of unanswered questions, including but not limited to, the title of the book. The nine souls get mentioned a few times but the book ends without telling what they are or what their significance might be. Now don't get the impression that the book ends on a cliffhanger. It doesn't. But like everything else in the Templeverse, e

A dark roller coaster ride through an...execution and hell. A must read!

Nate stands witness to an execution of a very dear friend, an execution of marriage 😉 Then, thinking he is losing all his friends he keeps a tight scheduled appointment in hell, one that is dearly bought and a one time only trip. Will he make it back? What about Falco and her revelation of the last book? All sorts of questions get answered, and many more asked. A must read for fans of paranormal adventure. Hold on tight, it'

Fantastic! !

Why must Nate always get himself mixed up in these sticky situations?😂😂I loved the book, i only found two sentences where a word seemed to be missing but that's really irrelevant. The plot was perfect as was the humor, action, the displays of emotion, ALL OF IT😆 I'm dying for book 10 now as well as Callie's next book, the torture! Did an all nighter with this book as soon as i got the fb notification, could not put it down! I mean...come on.. WHO NEEDS SLEEP?😂😂 Keep it up Shayne, we'

Always surprising!

The series never ceases to amaze. So many bends and turns to the storyline that never seen to connect until suddenly they do.
Nate's world is falling apart as one friend after another needs "space" from his affiliation.
But what happens when Nate is in Hell without the backup he has come to depend on, facing a foe that he knew he already killed?

This book is a fantastic way to bring the whole story back to the beginning, preparing us for a whole new story ark!! And hopefully more

Another good Temple adventure

It felt like a lot of pieces moved in this one. It seems like this was a book to build characters and plot line for the overall story arc.
I really, really appreciate the misdirection with Gunnar. At the beginning I though this would be a story about how they deal with what happened n the first few chapters, but that was just one of the story lines followed. Turns out Gunnar’s just a badass and handles his business. I like where this story left off and where it’s goin
These books are getting better and better i laughed so hard i got cramps in my sides and tears rolling down my cheeks multiple times! As many other series i think it had some growing pains but i truly enjoy this universe so far. Once again it is my pleasure to leave a 5 star review after taking the crazy ride with Nate Temple and his accomplices. It starts out with some of his friends dealing with problems and Nate being asked not to get involved. A wolf threatens Gunner's leadership of the pack, the Dragon King is being a jerk to Nate, but wants Tory to help out with an investigation, and Alucard is dealing with the local Vamps. That's in the first chapters. Shayne doesn’t disappoint. A must read.

Relations in St. Louis with supernatural communities are going to hell. So, what does Nate do? He goes directly there to find answers to long-standing unanswered questions in his life. But following Dante's footsteps isn't as easy as researching a few books. Hilarious, poignant, and well-imagined, I loved how plots and subplots came full circle. As usual with these works, I couldn't put it down.

Shayne rocks things again.

Book Nine of the Nate Temple series starts off with a bang at a wedding and rockets through the ending in a torrential thunderstorm. As usual.

As I think I have said before, you really should have read the first eight books before jumping into Nine Souls. By doing it this way, I think you will enjoy all of the twists and turns of Shayne's devious mind more than if you were trying to figure out who's who and what's what.
