For several reasons, it’s not the kind of work I usually read but I wanted to give it a try

I put ☆☆☆ because of all the hard & good research job done by Chelsi, her good style (her writing is easy flowing ) and the very numerous traits of humor spread all over the novel. (I smiled, chuckkled and even laughed more times than I can count. 😊 )

I confess that I liked the book (between other genres, I usually love military stories) and a l

Really?? You really want me to buy this story?? Loved the first half - the training - but becomes so jingoistic I can only feel uncomfortable. But finished and it flowed for me.

I have just finished reading this book called "Brave" and I loved the characters in it. However, there are pages when I sincerely felt like giving it away but as I progressed I liked to read about her struggle in Military and how tough it was for her to be in touch with parents. I would recommend it to anyone who has keen interest in reading about hardships, real struggle and how much one can give away to pursue their passion. But there are genuinely some pages where I lost the track because I d ...more

Strong women!

I wish more stories about our women warriors would be written! Thank you Chelsi for writing yours! I couldn’t stop reading & last night the only reason I stopped was my Kindle bopping my nose when I fell asleep!

“The whole world was going crazy.”

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
-Abraham Lincoln

This excerpt from the beginning of Brave is a perfect way to describe the world you will be entering as you read this novel. Much like the world we live in now, there is terror invading our home soil, and unrest in the world. Forces such as ISIS are out to make a mark and their point known through violent and deadly a

Brave is the first book in The Sisterhood Series by Chelsi Arnold and it is a military adventure novel set in the future. The story is about a 25 year old woman named Greer, who is drafted into the military in the year 2023, and she chooses to become a SEAL. It is the first time that the United States has drafted women into the military, and the draft has just been reinstated for the first time since the Vietnam War, to prepare the country for the chaos that is going on around the world due to W ...more

The story Brave (The Sisterhood Series Book 1) by Chelsi Arnold is a new adult/coming of age book. It is a story that grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put down until I had finished reading the last page. It is the story of Greer Connally. She has become one of the first women draftees at a time when the United States finds itself a country divided from the inside and there is a growing tension f

"Embrace The Suck" is the theme of this unbelievable story. God, I don't even know where to begin with this review because I had such a guttural reaction while reading it. BRAVE is the first book in the new "Sisterhood Series". Back in the 80's I read Stephen King's THE STAND which was written pre-AIDS. As I was reading it, I thought he must have known something while writing it because the plague he wrote about was so much like the epidemic that was spreading while I was reading it. Well I got ...more

Brave (The Sisterhood Series Book 1) by Chelsi Arnold was an emotional, gut punch to the feels that had me engrossed from start to finish.

Being in the service myself, I tend to stray away from military books. More so because there are always inaccuracies, and usually movies and TV play a big role in such inaccuracies. (Don't believe what you see on TV) I have to say, even though there was some, little things that bother me, the core of this story and the overall turn out was impressive. I can t

HOOYAH! What an awesome book by Chelsi Arnold! Brave is a story written in the year 2023 about a girl named Greer who gets drafted by the U.S. Government. Determined and not going down without a fight she meets a girl named Amerie, who she eventually loses a bet to, convinces her to join the Navy SEALS. Together they meet Emersyn who brings the same no nonsense attitude. Once they get to training Greer meets her roommate Dee. Brave (Sisterhood Series Book 1) by Chelsi Arnold was an amazing read. It knocked the stuffing out of me on more than one occasion. From the first part with its in-depth description of the rigorous SEAL training, the main characters lightened up the subject matter with their wit and repartee.
In a story set in the not too distant future, the US finally realises it needs to join in World War 3 against ISIS. 22 year old Greer Connally has been called up to fight for the US army following the first

What can I say but I am glad to have read this book. Its well worth the five-star rating I have given it. I salute you! Brave (The Sisterhood Series book 1) Chelsi Arnold is the first book in this series and this is also my first time reading anything written by this author. This was a great introduction.
The world is once again fighting each other, and America reinstates the draft, but not just for men. Women who are not married and childless are included in the draft. Greer is one of those women. Unlike a lot of the females drafted, she is ready to take on anything thrown her way. Along the way she

Brave is the first book in The Sisterhood Series by Chelsi Arnold. This is a new adult coming of age book about a group of girls, who are the first women drafted into the armed forces. Because they are new, they are given a choice of what branch os serve they want to be in. These young women chose the SEALs and are not exactly welcomed with open arm. They must stick together in order to get through training and then conflict. The world that Ms. Arnold built has so

Brave by Chelsi Arnold is an amazing book, one that should not be missed! If I could rate it more than a 5-star I certainly would. It’s the first book in Chelsi’s The Sisterhood series, and what a great start to a series it is! I completely devoured this book, from the very beginning I was hooked. Though I couldn’t relate to these characters I really connected with them. All of the amazing detail made this story seem so real, I could easily picture everything play

Brave (The Sisterhood Series Book 1) by Chelsi Arnold is an action packed military thrill tide but instead of the typical alpha males that we typically see in books like this we are introduced to Greer Connally, one of the very first women to be selected from the draft. Entering the military at a time where the country has been split in two and outside forces are looking to take advantage, Greer is forced to push herself past her limits and learn to trust those she was drafted with. Military based Reads are not on the top of my list, but I typically read anything when highly recommended. When it comes to books, I don't really have a type.
I am glad that I picked up Brave by Chelsi Arnold, although my experience with military reads is limited this is certainly unlike any of the others I have read.
Although set in the future, during World War III the story line is plausible and realistic. I also love that it is based on women in the military.

Believe in yourself. Believe in America!

In a divided America, there is still one thing we can all agree on: Things must change! Using current topics in the news, Ms. Arnold carries us into the future and into a more than realistic aftermath of those events. Clearly, actions have consequences.

A divided nation, the reinstatement of the draft which—for the first time—includes women, and wide-spread troubles across the globe are all settings for this thought-provoking debut novel.

Brave takes a hard

"When we first met, we were strangers. Now, I couldn't imagine my life without them." The characters were so well developed, I found myself rooting for them as a group and as individuals. The author pulls you in from the very first pages, so no need to wait for it to get better. It keeps getting better until you are so captivated, around page 28, you just have to keep turning the page even if it is 2AM. I appreciated the author confronting sensitive political/personal issues that have gripped ou ...more

Chelsi Arnold did an amazing job of portraying females in the Military. She has complex characters which makes the story enjoyable. The story has a great direction and what is more interesting is this could be a reality before we know it. The draft was reinstated, and this time is also taking women in the draft. Greer was with the first women who were drafted. Quickly Greer and the other women were how to work as a team. The only way to get through the training and later the trials of being in t ...more
